We installed Leopard on our imac and now we can't send using Mail or send a link from a website using the "Mail link to this page" feature. Mail was working fine before and I checked our server to make sure the right numbers and words were in the right place. Mail works fine on our MacBook Pro with Tiger.

Mail.app will not download my work emails while I am at work, although it works fine when I am at home. The settings are exactly the same as for Thunderbird on my desktop, which works fine.

However on my mac yahoo and hotmail don't seem to work with mail.app unless I pay extra only my gmail works. If I am doing this wrong can someone help me out or if there is a differant software to use what would that be?

How do I get back the same functionality that was in Snow Leopard? Is their a Apple solution or even a third party solution?
BTW, I have adapted, but it *****, and I've had no problems with switching to new operating systems since Mac OS 6 ->.

I tried the methods that I found on here by removing the plus, but nothing worked.
I work for a big company where we have PCs, MACS and iPHONES. We've tried syncing our calendars in many ways and after thinking we found the answer (via mobile me) realized it was a mess because odd appointments kept showing up. So I have two choices. Either make my MAIL and ICAL app sync to the exchange server, or find a way to sync both work (laptop) and personal (the one that would be used as the server at home) without having weird appts coming up on everyone's calendar.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have three accounts setup in Mail, and for some reason one of the accounts, the one that I need the most, is getting hundreds of junk emails daily, I tried to set some advanced settings in junk mail filtering but nothing works. One funny thing is that most of the junk mail I get is not even addressed to a name on my account, just a random name@myserver.com, there has to be a way to filter anything not addressed directly to me out, or a way to stop this period.

I have problem with mail application. I cannot get Gmail to work with it, I don't know why. I tried and nothing, I remove it and try again and same thing. It's written: The Gmail IMAP server [URL] is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to receive messages. I have already hotmail, and it works without problem. I even enable IMAP server at the gmail when I go through website directly. I am using MAC OS X. Mail application is is 4.2 version.

I have a customer with Mac OS 10.5.6, Mac Mail 3.5 (930.3) on an IMAC 9,1 (?).
He uses our pop email and also as a .mac mail account. For about the past week, both email accounts have been going into Work Offline status on their own. He has tried forcing in Take accounts online, and while the status does show online, he is not able to send or receive mail from either account, and it throws him back into offline mode. He is able to access the internet via Safari and he can access his email (through us) from the web and on his iphone. Eventually, the mail program will go back to online, on its own and he is able to send and receive mail like normal.
I have scoured the forums and seen a few people having the same issue and got it fixed, but none of them said how they fixed it. Any help that you can give would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if there is any additional information that I can provide.

How can I get rules to work in Mac Mail? I have tried every criteria possible to move the incoming messages of certain senders from my inbox to Junk mail or trash. I apply the rule, & it does nothing. I highlight the email itself in the inbox column, right-click and select "apply rule" and absolutely nothing happens. It moves nothing, anywhere.

I use IMAP accounts and not exactly sure why I should use iCloud for Mail. I don't need my messages sync'd since IMAP already handles that. Will iCloud Mail disregard my messages in this case?
I have two Macs and multiple iOS devices. I've been trying to understand the benefits of using Mail in iCloud. It seems it will push rules, smart mailboxes and folders to all your devices. That would be a nice benefit. I'm just concerned what it will do to my messages. I have local folders that are listed "ON MY MAC" on my Macbook Pro. Will those get pushed to my iMac and vice versa?

However, I want to set-up MobileMe so that my forwarding address appears as the from address in emails. How can I do this? I've tried to add it as one of the addresses in the Mail app Preferences pane but this seems to create a problem with sending.

She is using Apple's Mail app. Whenever she tries to attach a file - a JPEG for instance - it seems to attach as an inline graphic rather than a normal attachment. The PC recipient gets no paperclip symbol on their end, and can't do anything with it. I'm assuming this may be a preference setting in Mail, but can't seem to find where to change it. Turning on the "Send Windows-friendly attachments" seems to make no difference.

I'll give an example: Imagine that I want to send an e-mail to someone, and I want to attach a 10MB file to it. When I do that, the e-mail takes quite some time to send, because I'm not sending 10MB but... 3 or 4 times more!
Exactly. This happens over and over again. The e-mail sent is always 3 or 4 times larger than the original e-mail. I've checked - and re-checked this - several times using iStat widget. If I send a 10MB e-mail, the total upload is going to be over 30MB!
I recently changed the password on my AOL account ( for security ). But now everytime I launch mail, I get a dialogue box asking me to input my new password. Once do this it works fine. But doing this every time is annoying. I have entered the new pw in Mails preferences in 'Accounts' but it doesn't seem to work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave a new iMac (last years) with 10.5 on it. My email worked normal before I transferred Applications, files & etc from my old G4 with 10.4.
Now I can only get to my email through through my Earthlink home page by logging in & etc. (a real pain just to check my email!)
If I try to use the email icon on the iMac dock I get the email line at the top of the screen , but email page does not open. I have to go to menu and click on "In" and the page opens up but does not download any email. Will not send from this location either. When I try to quit email it will not close. I have to force quit it.
Earthlink said to trash their "Total Access" as it won't work with 10.5. So when the iMac was working ok before the transfer of files I must have been using Apples Mail application. How do I get it working again? I looked all over Mail Help and Apple help and nothing seems to work. Safari works ok.
Last week i had to do a complete restore from time machine after some files got corrupt on my computer now mail wont save my passwords. I have deleted the contents of the keychain, repaired permissions with no luck.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac running Snow Leopard and I am trying to add my gmail account to the mail app and im entering the right password and username and I keep getting- "Logging in to the Gmail IMAP server [URL] failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn't correct, you cannot receive messages." And my mail wont sync or anything. I tried with both imap and pop and neither work. In my gmail setting I have both pop and imap turned on so I dont get why im having a problem. My gmail account that I used to have on my account before I upgraded to snow leopard still works and my mobile me account works but I cant add any new gmail accounts. I've tried adding a few different gmail accounts and none will work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive crashed recently and I was able to put back everything on my MacBook's new hard drive as it was via Time Machine and my external hard drive - everything except Mail.
It put back my folders, but they were all empty - none of my emails were backed up - why is this and how can I ensure that Time Machine saves my emails when I back up? I have a Gmail account, so haven't lost my emails completely, but it's frustrating that they aren't filed as I had saved them and I will have to download them again.
I had to shut down my Mac by holding the power button. My Mail application didn't like this and it asked me to re-download all of my messages again. I did this but now the message topics and message content are out of sync.
I.e. I click on a title and the message is completely different.
Without wiping all of my e-mails is there someway to correct this with a refresh?
I am however in IT and consider myself a Windows expert and technically competent. I have an iBook G4 running Mac OS 10.5.6. In all other respects the computer and OS seem fine. However, when I launch mail, no window appears in the screen. The menu bar at the top does switch to Mail. If I attempt to close mail at anytime, it will not close - I have to Force Quit mail. I have setup mail preferences correctly and am able to access the mail account from several other computers and iPods with POP clients. I know that it is setup correctly, because when I first installed the OS and set it up it worked. After installing several other standard software packages (iLife, iWork, Adobe, ...) mail came to be in it's present state. Unfortunately, I can't say exactly when or what change corresponded with the Mail problem. The only way to get a window to appear is to pull down "Window" and choose "message viewer". The inbox then appears. If I click "get mail", nothing appears to happen and no messages (inbox items or errors) appear. Also there is a smart mailbox called "saved mail" created (I did this when first playing around with mail) that I can't delete. I can select and perform the delete procedure, but the smart mailbox never goes away (even after reboot).
If I run "Connection Doctor", the connection and login for incoming mail server and the connection to the outgoing mail server both succeed. But again, clicking on get mail does not yield any readily observable results. I have tried sending test mail as well. There is no apparent outbox that I check so I don't know if there are messages in there, but none of the test messages make it to the recipient.
I have setup mail on a variety of systems (Windows, Linux, Unix, etc) over the years and have a thorough understanding of the workings of e-mail clients and servers.
Also, are there any other (preferably free) mac mail clients that combine the inbox, address book, and calendar?
Emails I send on my iPad are not showing up in the Sent items box in Mail on my iMac at home.I am using Gmail, and they of course show up in the Sent items mailbox there in Mail.

I am having trouble configuring the mail app. When I set it up to my yahoo account, it loads all the bulk mail, but my inbox stays empty even if my boyfriend sends me emails...how can I get this working properly?
