I am having a problem with at&t uverse internet, I have a new mac pro, and I can't get the Link Aggregate part of my network to work, or just get rid of the firewall completly.
View 1 RepliesSo my Mac Pro is connected to the internet via an ethernet cable that is hooked up to my Powerbook G4 that has internet sharing enabled. The Powerbook G4 is connected to the internet via Airport. My main iTunes library is on my Mac Pro. I own an Apple TV and would like to be able to access the iTunes library from my Apple TV. My issue is, since the Mac Pro is connected via internet sharing, it seems like it doesn't get included as part of the network. It is connected to the internet, does everything perfectly fine. But searching for it from my Apple TV or from my iPhone remote app, it seems like it's not "part of the network." Anyway to make it included in the network when it's connected via internet sharing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a D-Link Dir-655 and I'm not too sure how exactly I'm suppose to set this up since there isn't much info on setting up for mac/linux. My network shows up as a wi-fi network.. but it's not joinable. It shows up both on my macbook pro and my iphone, but after I put in the password I'm not able to click to join the network.. anyone know whats goin on?

I am trying to wire my macbook through a gigabit switch with the router and a Nas D-Link 323 also attached to the switch. There will also be a PC which will be wireless and does not need access to the D-Link. I can connect to the internet ok and have the pc working wirelessly too however I am at a loss as to how to get the mac talking to the Nas. The lights are all on on the switch but I cant figure out what I need to do to get the D-Link to talk to the mac. I am using cat 5 cables. If I log into the router the D-link shows up as an attached device with an IP address and a mac address. I have a feeling that I should be doing something in the network settings but I don't know what.

i've not had a problem linking to my imac to my nokia e50 via bluetooth. it's after the update to OS10.5.6 that the bluetooth function doesn't work anymore.
each time, after selecting my cellphone as the bluetooth device to be browsed, I'll have to wait for at least 1 minute for the connection to be done.
after this, I'll still can't link my cellphone to my imac.
how to resolve the situation?

I have created my first website using iweb and posted it to the free webs.com hosting site. Webs.com requires that the home page be named 'index.html'. So I changed the name of the iweb Welcome page to index.html. Not surprising, the "welcome" link on my navigation bar doesn't work.I can't figure out how to fix this. Suggestions?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've bought a network drive to use as a wireless external hard drive with the hope of saving my iTunes library onto it and then streaming it to my MacBook Pro. But it doesn't just work like a hard drive - I can only play music via a 'Shared' icon that comes up in iTunes, and only stream mp3 and WAV apparently. Why can't it just mount like a USB or FireWire drive that I can move stuff onto? Have I made a massive cock-up?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter the re install i was unable to get my wireless internet to work. It worked 100% before i had the crash, all other pc's still work wirelessly. Here is a little rundown of my situation.
1. I can connect to my network with a full strength singnal.
2. I can't connect to the internet through the network.
3. I had it working before i had to reinstall my os
4. My dads powerbook, my windows pc, my ipod touch, all work wirelessly still through the network.
I tried to copy setting from the powerbook but it has tiger and im running leopard it does not have the same options. I connect using PPPOE but when using the assistant it will either,
1. keep telling me to reboot the modem (nothing found)
or
2. cant find pppoe host (Im with sympatico - canada DSL)
I have 4 Mac's in my household, 2 MBP's, a Mac Pro ,and a Mac Mini. I can find the Mac Pro and both MBP's on Back to my Mac but the problem is with the Mac Mini.I am able to see any of the computers from the Mac Mini but the Mac Mini won't show up on any of the computers. This would be the case using Back to My Mac and won't even work on the Finder within the home network. The Mac Mini simply won't show up in the Finder.
I have Leopard on the system with the latest updates and have gone through the settings and can't find anything that is turned off.
I've been posting quite a bit lately as to suggestions as to how to speed up my network. Whatever I do, I cannot get to my iMac to connect to my network faster than 5-10 Mbits/sec. If I step 6 inches out of the room with the iMac, I get 70-100 Mbit/sec. I've finally come to the conclusion that there is some type of interference in the room with the iMac and no matter what I try, I'm not going to be able to get good wireless network speeds in that room.
Since the room is on a different level than my wireless router, a direct wired connection from my Time Capsule is out of the question. But, what if I bought an Airport Express, put it right outside the room with the iMac and ran an ethernet cable from the Airport Express directly into my iMac? Would that have any positive effect?
A PC on our network is doing printer sharing with a Canon MP530. I can get all the Windows PCs to print off it but I can't get our Mac to do so. Our one Mac user has to unfortunately email everything to someone else to print it for her. Would like to solve that problem.
I already tried downloading and installing drivers for the printer but still don't allow it over the network.
The computer and internet works good when is not connected to my tv. Last weeks, I bought a mini DVI to DVI adapter and then a DVI TO HDMI Adapter, so the problems is when I connect it to the tv. The network doesn't work anymore. Sometimes do but must of the time doesnt work. I just tried openDNS but still the same.

I have tried mdutil -i on /Volumes/Network drive and mdutil -E
It says it has turned on indexing, but it still will not find any files. Does anyone know how to make spotlight index this network drive, or recommend an app that will allow me to search network drives
I have an ethernet and a wireless internet connection.
With the wired connection everything works fine but when I use a wireless connection ( I have tried this with two t-mobile wireless networks in germany at my own house and at a friend's house) all the apple aplications won't be able to acces the internet.
As of last tuesday, I haven't been able to get an internet connection using my Time Capsule on the Cox Cable network in Omaha, NE.
At first, Cox told me that this was my problem, and to take it up with Apple. Now they are telling me that no one with Time Capsules has been able to connect to their network for about a week. They say that they are working on it, but it isn't a priority because they "don't support routers."
The program Mail works great for me at home. But, when I take my laptop to my office, or I use it at a coffee shop, or wherever, I can't send emails. It'll access the server and get emails, but I can't send them. My mac email is IMAP, rather than POP, if that makes a difference. Is this something that I should be able to do, or does Mail need to be hooked up to my home network to work properly?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have brought my work mac book pro home with me to do some work over the weekend, but I have the issue of usually it's connected to a network in work and now that I've got it home it says "Network Accounts Unavailable". When I try to log in the log in wheel just spins for about a minute then shakes as if it's the wrong password. I know I'm using the right password as I used it little over an hour ago in work. Do I have to be connected to the internet? And if so is there a work around so I can connect to the Wifi without logging in? It's not the administrator account on the mac, and I don't have those details, but it's a real pain not to have it over the weekend.
View 1 Replies View Related'all of a sudden' (so it seems) my 2 printers in my network do not print printjobs from other macs in my network. It dit work. Nothing really changed, exept some system-updates.
print-share is on, awake out of sleep is on (network-tab). Really there is no reason that it would not work. Still, ... it doesn't.
config:
- imac 27" 2011, software updated
- macmini 2010, software updated
canon ip4200, works standard on imac. brother HL-2030, works standard on imac
The charm of the set-up was that I could have my printers in the office and still print from the livingroom (mac mini) To try to solve the problem I moved the mac mini temporarily to the office, so I have it next to the imac.
Opening the section 'printers and scanners' and then pressing the '+' does however give me 2 differentviews:
- on the imac I get a sub menu, dropping down from the '+'
- on the mac mini I get a new window named 'add new printer' (this is hopefully the right translation - I am on a Dutch system)
This strikes me as odd. I never noticed this before. Maybe this is where the problem lies?

I've got an Airport Express that, when connected to the existing wireless network, continues to blink an amber light (No IP address, right?).
I've had the Airport Express create its own network, and I can stream music through to it just fine. When I have it join the network my laptop uses, the light just keeps blinking yellow, and I have to hard reset it to be able to get to its configuration again. iTunes never sees it.
Can my AirPort Extreme work via a Cat5 ethernet port within my network? I ask because we've had no luck doing this where as our older Airport Express works just fine this way. Thoughts? We upgraded to the Extreme to extend the signal (and have 2 antennas) and trying to avoid hooking it up to the cable modem box which is even further away than where the Airport Express was located.

I tried to set up a home share between mine and my girlfriend's MacBooks. It worked okay both ways, but then I disconnected my ethernet cable and the connection dropped.
I started fiddling around and discovered that home sharing only works as long as any one of the two computers is connected to the router with a cable. The other one can be connected wirelessly. But it won't work if both are wireless at the same time.
I've had my macbook pro for 4 years now with out any problems. However, a few weeks ago my airport stopped connecting for no reason. I have tried to reconnect through the network settings but it still won't work. However, if I am in the same room as my router then the airport will connect wirelessly to the internet. But as soon as I leave the room my internet signal will go out. I know its not a problem with my router because all the other computers in my house can recieve signal anywhere in the house.

I've restarted my Powerbook G4, but it's still doing the same thing: it's not displaying part of the top menubar (regardless of whether I'm on Firefox or the Finder or whatever app) so I can't see the time, battery/charge status, wireless, etc. I can see everything on the left half just fine (the part where it's specific for each app: File, Edit, View, History, etc). But the right half is blank, *except* for the blue circle icon with a white magnifier icon inside -- that thing is flashing...
Another thing is that I can't open excel files. Weirdly, I can open MS Word just fine. It tells me "not enough memory", but these excel files are pretty small. The thing is, I had Office 2004, and a couple of months ago I installed Office 2008. Yesterday morning, I got an "Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.5 Update" and I just clicked "Update" like I usually do... but I was running late and had to take my laptop with me so I canceled it when it was like 80% done. Could that be causing problems?
BUT I remember the night before, I had the DVD player on, set a timer to *shut down* in 20 minutes, and I remember the morning after (the morning of this Update), I saw that my laptop was (still) ON, and it had a pop-up window to say that some stuff on my computer may run erraneously because my date on the laptop was set for before 1965 or something. So then I had to go fix the clock on my laptop which was set to like 1960 January or something.
PS - there are additional weirdness going on, like when I change the volume using the keys on the keyboard, the transparent little box that's supposed to show up on the screen with the corresponding number of bars --- that's now showing up as just a big block of white box... And on things like Finder Windows, the top portion of the window where I should be seeing a back-arrow button and stuff, they are not showing up...
