It just started today. I tried opening a site inside 4shared.com and it won't open. It worked yesterday but it doesn't work today. It gives me a blank page and kept on tittering the entire time. I already updated my Mac's software. Nothings change.

I formatted a G4 powerbook for an intern at the company with Tiger installed, with all the latest updates. But somehow, our company website won't load in Safari or Firefox. There is internet connection, all other websites on that laptop I've tried works. We have 15 other PCs / OSX and our website works on all of them, except for the powerbook.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn my menu bar, I have my favorites, and some are actually folders. Since switching to lion, those folders are marked by a square. When I click on them, every site within opens up and knocks out whatever site I had up. For example: In YAHOO, I have three bookmarks within (Yahoo, Yahoo Mail, and Yahoo UK) When I used to click on the folder, I was given a sub menu from which to choose. Now all three open up.Â

I manually put a couple of sites into the top sites area.. but then even after 'pinning' them into the sites area, they disappear when i re open safari.. it's really bugging me. can anyone help me out with this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open Safari i doesn't load my homepage, it just stays white. And also the webprocess is running at a 100%. I uninstalled the 1Password exstension and it didn't help. Safari works fine in the guest account.

Frequent reader of Mac Rumors but I finally joined as I searched a few threads that had similar issues but didn't create a solution for me. Essentially, certain web sites will not load on my mac after a while. When I first got it and subsequently formatted and reinstalled the OS (due to the same issue I'm having now), this issue did not happen.I have a Mac Book Pro, OS X 10.5, 15.4" and other than this software screwup problem, everything runs like a dream.
Here is what happens:
I browse many websites, download files, normal computer usage, and after a while certian websites instantly don't load. A classic example is [URL], which didn't load the last time I had this issue, in addition to [URL], which also didn't load the last time I had this issue. BOTH of these pages used to load fine. The pages instantly go to a "cannot find server" error, on safari, and firefox. However, on parallels, the pages DO load on XP using firefox and internet explorer, although I could have sworn they didn't the last time...which may end up being the case as time goes on.
I have no spyware, firewall, or other network software on the machine. I DO have peer guardian but the problem persists even when I have quit the program.Restarting does nothing. Honestly, I must have done 50,000 google searches on this issue, and different people have different solutions to similar problems (permissions, etc), but this is something new, because the pages used to load and no do not.
I just got a new ISP and I seems that sites such as facebook, YouTube and even google fail to load more often than not. They wok fine on my wife's windows laptop but not on the iMac (even in my windows partition). I suspect it's an airport thing but it could also be the router (billion wireless).

It doesn't matter which browser i'm using they simply never load. there are no error messages. this happens whether i am connected via wifi, or wired into the modem. its the same thing.when i am away from home on another internet connection the same pages load perfectly.other computers in the house, including my friend's macbook pro can load the same sites perfectly also. it makes no sense.I have tried to empty the cache's, checked my security settings to make sure there are no firewalls or anything, but nothing has helped. anyone any ideas of anything else i can try or why on earth this would be happening. i really need to use wordpress on a daily basis from home!

I am trying to work on some school work on my online classes. I can log into the main website, but everytime I try and load one of my class sites it keeps saying There is a problem with your authentication, possibly due to inactivity. For your safety, you have been logged out and must sign in again to continue.When I go back to the main page though, and refresh it I am still logged in and nothing has changed. It does it for all four of my classes and I'm not sure what to do...

I've got no network software running in the background (other than dropbox), and I don't think I've set up a custom DNS. Not really sure how to check what it is. This is an on and off thing, sometimes facebook loads, sometimes it doesn't. Using computers connected to the same WiFi, I can freely access Facebook with no issues.

I have a PPC iMac G4 running 10.5.8. Both in Safari and Firefox, some sites open right away (mail.yahoo.com, wellsfargo.com, apple.com). But others will not open or will take minutes to open (yahoo.com, mail.google.com, wunderground.com). Bizare for sure. Set up static IP address to find this mac on my network. No settings have changed since this system was set up a few years ago. Other PCs on my network work fiine. Also rebooted DSL modem, and router.

I'm posting what appears to be the first such post in a long time. My brand new Mac Mini 2009 will not open certain websites, no matter which browser I use (Firefox, Safari, or Opera).
The list includes all sites at the following domains but I am sure is not limited to:[URL]
My wife's PC and my old PC all open these sites fine. Other macs on my wireless network also open them fine.
The message I get is that the browser could not connect to the server. The connection is fine as I can open other pages.
I have put lots of time and effort in my iweb project. Just got a new computer and installed iweb. Following advice in this forums, I copied the Domain.sites2 dir into my new ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb, but iweb still doesn't recognize my project!! It is as if nothing was there

With two windows open, I try to drag and drop a URL, and the "plus" sign disappears and the URL does not get added to Top Sites. I have tried the top of the page, the sides, the bottom, and the middle where the previews are. It just won't drop. Yes, I've clicked Edit. I've even tried holding the Control, Option, or Command key while dropping.
I have tried adding a site using the Bookmarks, Add Bookmark and choosing Top Sites. When I do this, it does get added to the Top Sites, but when I close and reopen Safari, it is gone - not in Top Sites anymore. I have tried totally re-setting Safari. It does not make any difference. I've tried it on my Mac mini and my MacBook. I can't get it to work with either one. Is there some trick I am missing?

This is my biggest software design pet peeves. I hate when applications make too many choices for the user. Don't get me wrong, I don't like when a program asks the same question over and over again either. So I'm using firefox and I had about four or five windows open. And it froze up for over five minutes so I force killed it. When I opened it again it automatically tried to open all those websites I had open before - all at the same time. This isn't even a bug, it's the designers bad choice. I don't even need them open. I was only still using one. And I don't know which one caused the freeze (probably a flash heavy website like abercrombie) but I certainly don't want to open that one again. I'm trying to get Firefox to not do this anymore.

I have sites that are updated multiple times daily, and their thumbnail on the Top Sites page still show what they looked like days ago. Even when I click on one to read it and then return Top Sites, the thumbnail doesn't get updated.

I clicked EDIT, then I dragged URLs into the order that I wanted. Then I clicked the BLUE PUSH PIN to save, and clicked DONE. And then it was different the next time I did Command-T.

I just reinstalled Lion on my MacBook Pro and everything is great except for one small problem that I can't seem to solve. I'm using Safari 5.1.7 and it just won't save my Top Sites. I deleted the TopSites.plist, rearraganged and repinned the Top Sites as was instructed here and here. The Top Sites do stick for a while but then they change again. I repeated this process several times and they still keep changing.

On my other mac, when I start typing in safari's url bar, it will auto-suggest pages based on the title name of my bookmarked sites (rather than just on the [URL] address url). I just got a brand new MBP and when I start typing in letters into safari's url field, it won't auto-suggest any of the names of the bookmarked pages, it only suggests based on the actual www address. How do I get it to suggest the bookmark's names?
EDIT: On my other machine I have GLIMS installed. Is this a GLIMS' feature? I was under the impression that safari did this itself.
I just got the new 15" mbp and noticed that safari top sites would scramble itself at times. I've looked around the net and seems like a normal occurrence for people with the new MBP's. My question is, what is causing it? And how do you get rid of it? Is it just a matter of turning off "automatic graphic switching" so it's running on the discrete nvidia card? Is it a software issue with flash or safari?
