Jun 11, 2012I have a PPC iMac G4 running 10.5.8. Both in Safari and Firefox, some sites open right away (mail.yahoo.com, wellsfargo.com, apple.com). But others will not open or will take minutes to open (yahoo.com, mail.google.com, wunderground.com). Bizare for sure. Set up static IP address to find this mac on my network. No settings have changed since this system was set up a few years ago. Other PCs on my network work fiine. Also rebooted DSL modem, and router.

Nov 18, 2010This one has me banging my head! I am not able to open certain web sites from Safari, Fire Fox or G Chrome. But I can if I do it within Parallels...Can someone help with this? I have done a search on this forum, but have come up empty.I rely need to do some work using the web site that I cannot open.

Jul 22, 2009I'm posting what appears to be the first such post in a long time. My brand new Mac Mini 2009 will not open certain websites, no matter which browser I use (Firefox, Safari, or Opera).
The list includes all sites at the following domains but I am sure is not limited to:[URL]
My wife's PC and my old PC all open these sites fine. Other macs on my wireless network also open them fine.
The message I get is that the browser could not connect to the server. The connection is fine as I can open other pages.

Mar 22, 2012In my menu bar, I have my favorites, and some are actually folders. Since switching to lion, those folders are marked by a square. When I click on them, every site within opens up and knocks out whatever site I had up. For example: In YAHOO, I have three bookmarks within (Yahoo, Yahoo Mail, and Yahoo UK) When I used to click on the folder, I was given a sub menu from which to choose. Now all three open up.Â

Dec 12, 2010This is my biggest software design pet peeves. I hate when applications make too many choices for the user. Don't get me wrong, I don't like when a program asks the same question over and over again either. So I'm using firefox and I had about four or five windows open. And it froze up for over five minutes so I force killed it. When I opened it again it automatically tried to open all those websites I had open before - all at the same time. This isn't even a bug, it's the designers bad choice. I don't even need them open. I was only still using one. And I don't know which one caused the freeze (probably a flash heavy website like abercrombie) but I certainly don't want to open that one again. I'm trying to get Firefox to not do this anymore.

Oct 15, 2007I have just copied a DVD project from my G5 Powermac to G4 iBook over my Airport network. The project does not open on the iBook (I think because the project was made on iDVD v6.03, and the iBook runs, or at least ran an earlier version.) I am trying to upgrade to 6.03 but so far to no effect. Now the project will no longer open on the G5 as it puts up the following message - Project locked by other user. The project wotton is locked by the user alexrice (user ID 501): 2007-10-15 14:31:14 +0100.
The project can't be opened at this time. - I have quit iDVD on the iBook and shut it down. The user id 'alexrice' is the previous owner of the iBook. Due to pressure of work, and some useful software still on the iBook, I had not got around to reformatting the harddrive and giving it a new identity. How can I regain control of my project on the G5?

I did a clean install of the Lion OS, and began to selectively reinstall application programs. I inserted the install disc for my Logic Studio Application, an application which was not cheap, and I am met with the above message when I try to install the software. (Actually, "you can't open the application LogicStudio.mpkg because powerpc applications are no longer supported")Under the system requirements, I find my machine within the guidelines. Also, this software worked fine on this mac machine when I was running the Leopard OS. What is "PC" about my Dual Intel processors?
