This never happened before I updraded to Lion. I will have a few tabs open and suddenly I get a message saying Safari needs to reload all tabs. It often hangs forcing me to quit and restart Safari. It happens when I am using private browsing and even when I am not.

I've been kicking around the idea of reformatting my iMac and starting fresh. It's not slow by any means (2.4ghz aluminum, 4gb ram, 320gb hd), but when I create a new user account I can tell the new account is faster. That is what is primarily pushing me to go ahead and reformat the computer with a completely fresh install, however it seems like I really don't need to go that far since it is only that user account that is drug down with over a year of accumulation in preferences, add-ons (such as Candybar 3, Perian, etc). The master account just is not "snappy" like a fresh account and I don't see a need in reformatting the computer if it is still fast on a new account, so. what to do? I don't want to reload all my apps in a fresh install if I don't have to, and one in particular (iMovieHD) I CAN'T reload since I can't find the disk anymore (one out of 30 disks I have goes wandering, it had to be that one).
What's REALLY been bugging me though, is Safari. I'm on 3.1.2 and it really just isn't cutting it. On my test account it is easily faster than on my master account. What all should I delete in my Safari app to get it back to factory fresh speeds without attempting to reinstall it? It takes about one full second longer to load on my master account Safari than on the fresh test account I made on my iMac. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS4 in under 4 seconds so I know the computer isn't dragging. It seems like it is mostly Safari that is sluggish, but then at times it seems like that neck snapping speed of opening windows in finder also is just slightly delayed making it feel not as fast. I dunno, what should I do from here to snap things up in Safari and maybe finder as well? It can't be much slowing me down with CS4 opening in under 4 seconds. I mean.... I can almost open Photoshop CS4 as fast as I can switch web pages so. Safari really isn't working out at the moment. I'm on the upgraded 22Mbps comcast package so I have plenty of pipeline behind my internet.
I'm working on a website and I make a change to the CSS file but safari stubbornly refuses to render the change. I was finding the same problem with Chrome until I added added a parameter to my file call thus:

I'm testing in Chrome and Safari on Mac, and Chrome and IE on Windows 7. Of the four, Safari is the only one that won't reload the CSS! Obviously this doesn't matter much on my machine, but is there anything I can do in my code to force my viewers' machines to reload the CSS?
My Safari on my MacBook was locked up by malware demanding $$$. Unfortunately, I cannot reset Safari or erase the history as those options are not active. I tried forced quitting and rebooting my computer. neither works. Is there another way of unlocking Safari or can I reload Safari?

I generally keep 20 or so tabs open in my safari window. A month or so back, suddenly, each time I click over to a diffent tab the tab reloads. How do I stop this? And is this problem making my computer (fan or hard drive?) wind up for long periods of time? Sounds like a little jet engine about to overload.

Ever since yesterday, every time I open a bookmark in Safari, or enter a URL and hit enter, the page will just remain blank...only after I hit reload, or re-click the bookmark the page will load. This isn't always the case but happens a lot. This also occurs on my dads MacBook Pro so maybe it is an issue with my Airport Extreme?

(I have OSX v.10.7.3 Safari v. 5.1.5) Very often when I try to open a webpage it takes forever to load and eventually I either get a “Safari can’t open the page because the server where this page is located isn’t responding.” message or the page loads partially-no pictures or with a strange layout. After that when I re-lunch the page it shows up instantly. The strange thing is that when I don’t wait but instead quit and re-lunch Safari while it's loading the page, it loads straightaway. I can also turn my Internet connection on and off again and same thing happens. (WiFi or cable- it doesn’t matter) The problem is that I have to do it every time I click on a link. You can imagine what happens when I try to open more than one tab or window.This also happens on Chrome on my Mac but my Toshiba Win XP works perfectly so I don’t think it’s the modem or wifi. I don’t have any antivirus installed, no mackeepers either.

Safari seems to refresh pages (especially when I'm logged in to Facebook), every so often (logging me out of social sites). It must be some kind of bug wherein Lion's Resume feature seem to get messed up.

Was running Lion on a Macbook mid 2007, when the 160GB HDD failed. Ordered a new Momentus 250 gigger reinstalled Leopard to 10.6.8, pulled the last backup off of my external drive and have everything back, but can not re-install Lion. My iTunes wont load, I have a bunch of icons from the old Lion OS with the circle with the line on them.

We had an issue with our macbook about a year ago and when it was sent into and Apple authoized service they upgraded it machine from 10.6 to 10.7. Now a year later we want to totally clean the machine and restore to factory status (to seel it as we have upgraded to an new macbookpro)but it seems we need a dik to do that - any options??

The only new thing I did was use an HDMI cable to connect to my TV. The mac had been shutdown for low battery because i fell asleep on movie. Anyways, I woke up plugged in my charger only to find that i can't connect to certain sites... Further compounding my problem is a taskbar that says "The certificate for this website is invalid. i have a early 2008 octo mac pro, with it im using a philips 220ws, the problem i'm having is that scrolling a page be it safari, firefox or a pages doc. it seems to jutter along and doesnt move as smooth as my mac book,and when typing into either msn messenger, pages or even text edit letters seem to lag behind what im typing, ok it may only be for a secon and about 2 letters behind burt it gets annoying worse when back spacing. does anyone else have the problem or possible fix? im not using anything more than than the word processor, safari and msn at a time

Whenever I launch Pages, the application opens pretty much all the documents I've worked on. I take care to close all the windows, hoping that they won't launch again next time I start the application, yet they do. I can't find a setting in the preferences or Settings to disable this behavior.Â

I am Having some issues with Safari (I am using 4.0.5), if I open up a website the screen stays white like it normally does for a sec to load a web page but the loading icon keeps spinning and spinning and spinning....... until I click the "X" stop icon and reload the web page. As soon as I click the reload icon the webpage loads up instantly, it is getting really annoying and would be great if anyone has a fix. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen frequently and then be fine for a few web pages and then start up again.

On two different computers, Safari will occassionally (although it's getting more frequent), not load a page. I'll click on a link or a bookmark, it will put the address in the toolbar and the progress bar goes across, but it will stay on the current page. I'll reload the page and get the same effect (correct address, progress bar goes across, previous page) The toolbar has the new address, but the page will be the old page. Â
Quiting Safari resets it and it automatically goes to the new page upon reopening. Is there a way to keep Safari from doing this?

Often when I click on a weblink, Safari tries to load the new page, but nothing. The web address shows up in the bar at the top, but no response. It happens often. But, even when I'm having trouble, navigating around in some closed community like Facebook works fine, so it's not an internet connection problem. (I thought it was a connection problem at first--poor wiring?--but since I can move around in Facebook, I'm dismissing that.)Â Also, it happens both when the computers are connected through the routers or directly via Ethernet to the AT&T U Verse modem. Â
This started when we switched from Comcast cable to AT&T, but there have been numerous Safari updates since then. I don't really think it is a Safari problem. The only PC on the home network doesn't show this problem (but it is an older, slow PC); both Macs on the network exhibit the problem. Happens whether we use the ethernet network or go wireless (non-Apple routers). Â

Safari doesn't ask "are you sure you want to quit 2 pages?" How do you get that back? Because when im working on an application for instance and I accidentally command+Q another safari page instead of command+W, it all quits and when I relaunch all my information is gone.

I've had constant trouble with Safari 5.0 not wanting to load a page or constantly hanging with what appears to be one or two items left to load from the page. Often, I have to stop Safari and then reload the page to get it to work. I noticed quite a few other people having the same type problem on Apple's support forums. So far nobody seems to have an answer. Anybody have any ideas as to what's going on here?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with Safari that has been bugging me. At seemingly random times it doesn't load a page. Usually it is the second page of a website I visit. This means that the homepage [URL] for example) loads fine. But when I click on a link on the page (to go to sports or politics), it starts loading and then does nothing. Like this:
The New York Times often doesn't load at all. I have no problems at all with some other sites, like wikipedia or Macrumors. Firefox and Camino do not have these problems.
The problem started when I was still running Tiger and Safari 2 on my MacBook. I since started using a MacBook Pro and moved all my data and settings with the Migration Assistant. The MacBook Pro runs Leopard, but Safari 3.0 has exactly the same problem as Safari 2 had on my Macbook. I tried the following:
- repair permissions
- removed all cookies and set my preferences to accept all cookies
- cleared cache
- manually removed the .plist-files for Safari from the Library
All to no avail. When I log in using the built-in Guest Account on my MacBook Pro, Safari runs fine.
