Apr 10, 2009Ever since yesterday, every time I open a bookmark in Safari, or enter a URL and hit enter, the page will just remain blank...only after I hit reload, or re-click the bookmark the page will load. This isn't always the case but happens a lot. This also occurs on my dads MacBook Pro so maybe it is an issue with my Airport Extreme?

Sep 1, 2014I have a 20inch early 2009 iMac running OS X 10.9.4.
I have been having crippling WiFi problems were I am forced to reload webpages 20-30 times before the page loads fully. I have tried many things and even upgraded the RAM to 8gb, and I still have the same problem. I have also tried resseting the WiFi, router, and iMac and it seems my problem is more complicated than that. I have run a test too and I had no lost packets. The strange thing is after a webpage not loading, if I refresh the page 20-30 times it finally loads!

Dec 21, 2008I've been kicking around the idea of reformatting my iMac and starting fresh. It's not slow by any means (2.4ghz aluminum, 4gb ram, 320gb hd), but when I create a new user account I can tell the new account is faster. That is what is primarily pushing me to go ahead and reformat the computer with a completely fresh install, however it seems like I really don't need to go that far since it is only that user account that is drug down with over a year of accumulation in preferences, add-ons (such as Candybar 3, Perian, etc). The master account just is not "snappy" like a fresh account and I don't see a need in reformatting the computer if it is still fast on a new account, so. what to do? I don't want to reload all my apps in a fresh install if I don't have to, and one in particular (iMovieHD) I CAN'T reload since I can't find the disk anymore (one out of 30 disks I have goes wandering, it had to be that one).
What's REALLY been bugging me though, is Safari. I'm on 3.1.2 and it really just isn't cutting it. On my test account it is easily faster than on my master account. What all should I delete in my Safari app to get it back to factory fresh speeds without attempting to reinstall it? It takes about one full second longer to load on my master account Safari than on the fresh test account I made on my iMac. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS4 in under 4 seconds so I know the computer isn't dragging. It seems like it is mostly Safari that is sluggish, but then at times it seems like that neck snapping speed of opening windows in finder also is just slightly delayed making it feel not as fast. I dunno, what should I do from here to snap things up in Safari and maybe finder as well? It can't be much slowing me down with CS4 opening in under 4 seconds. I mean.... I can almost open Photoshop CS4 as fast as I can switch web pages so. Safari really isn't working out at the moment. I'm on the upgraded 22Mbps comcast package so I have plenty of pipeline behind my internet.

May 21, 2012This never happened before I updraded to Lion. I will have a few tabs open and suddenly I get a message saying Safari needs to reload all tabs. It often hangs forcing me to quit and restart Safari. It happens when I am using private browsing and even when I am not.

Safari :: It Won't Reload A Changed CSS File
Jun 16, 2012I'm working on a website and I make a change to the CSS file but safari stubbornly refuses to render the change. I was finding the same problem with Chrome until I added added a parameter to my file call thus:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="index.css?parameter=1" type="text/css" />
I'm testing in Chrome and Safari on Mac, and Chrome and IE on Windows 7. Of the four, Safari is the only one that won't reload the CSS! Obviously this doesn't matter much on my machine, but is there anything I can do in my code to force my viewers' machines to reload the CSS?

May 12, 2012I generally keep 20 or so tabs open in my safari window. A month or so back, suddenly, each time I click over to a diffent tab the tab reloads. How do I stop this? Jul 13, 2010I seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.

Safari :: New Page Opens With Last Page
Feb 10, 2012using my white macbook, everytime i fire up safari it opens the last webpage that i visited, eg facebook or the login page of my bank account.
i have checked in preferences pane - ensured that the new windows and new tabs open with "homepage" and set the homepage field to [URL]( i even manually typed it in and selected "set to current page" to make sure it was ok ). then i go onto facebook, quit safari, re-open it and .. it's the facebook page again!Â
i reset safari and this has no effect. it didnt always used to be like this, just recently.
ps - so i used no capital letters, i broke my shoulder last week

Apr 1, 2010I am Having some issues with Safari (I am using 4.0.5), if I open up a website the screen stays white like it normally does for a sec to load a web page but the loading icon keeps spinning and spinning and spinning....... until I click the "X" stop icon and reload the web page. As soon as I click the reload icon the webpage loads up instantly, it is getting really annoying and would be great if anyone has a fix. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen frequently and then be fine for a few web pages and then start up again.

OS X :: Page Setup Dialog Box Does Not Work?
Dec 7, 2008My generic Page Setup dialog box e.g. used for Word etc. doesn't work.
The "Setting" menu doesn't work at all, i.e. I can see the dropdown but it doesn't accept my changes (it's fixed on "Page Settings". All other menus or choices are accepted but then the "OK" button doesn't work; it just flickers briefly and then goes back to blue. The "Cancel" button makes all contents of the dialog box disappear except for the framne and the buttons. Either way force quitting and relaunching the application is the only way to continue working in the application.
What could be the issue here?
A few specs on my hardware, printer and system:
- MacBook Pro (brand new)
- OS X 10.5.5
- Printers: hp LaserJet 4200 (main printer), iP5200R, OKI B6200, Lexmark E321. All these printers I used without problems with my old PowerBook G4.
The problem occurs with all applications using the generic Page Setup dialog, such as Word, Grab etc. In Excel e.g. all these functions work (it uses a different kind of dialog box for the page setup).
The problem could possibly have started to occur when the Lexmark printer could not be installed automatically so I assigned it another Lexmark driver, which seemed to work. But I'm not sure whether those two problems occurred at the same time.
What I tried already:
- uninstall and reinstall all printers in the Print & Fax part of the System Preferences. I uninstalled all printers and (without restart) reinstalled the hp printer only. The problem was still there, even upon restart.
- reinstall Word (first I thought it was a Word problem)
- shouting at the computer
Applications :: Page Setup Dialog Does Not Work On New MacBook Pro?
Feb 3, 2009The page setup dialog doesn't work on my new(ish) MacBook Pro. At first I thought it was just a problem with Excel, but the same thing occurs in Word, when trying to print pdfs within Acrobat, everywhere. When I bring up the dialog box to change the paper size or format, it lets me click on what I want, and the OK box lights up, but when I click 'OK' nothing happens. I can't make it register the changes. I've tried deleting and then reinstalling the printer, to no avail. What could the problem be?
