Apr 17, 2012All of a sudden, Safari is now displaying blue question marks instead of pictures on some websites like Facebook.

View 2 RepliesBlue Question marks appear when websites like Facebook have pictures. This began after Uverse was installed in my home. It did not do this previously with ATT High Speed Internet. Uverse claims this is a computer issue.Â

Lately whenever I load websites like pinterest or netflix the pictures never load. Instead blue boxes with white question marks load. My sister has a mac as well and this has been happening to her too.

The last 2 days my sites in safari haven't been displaying properly. Here's an example:
As you can see the page is displaying in half the window. Other users are having no problem in safari, just me. When I reset Safari the problem seems to go away, only to come back in a couple hours. This problem has only come about in the last couple days, anyone ever have this problem and know how to fix it?
I am getting a lot of pictures on websites not loading in Safari 4.0. In the activity window it shows 'can't connect to host'.This is happening on many different websites but the same websites load fine in Firefox.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was forcibly migrated from DSL to Fiber Optic internet services (uverse) & ever since I am consistently seeing a small blue box with a white question mark in it where a picture should be. It is happening on multiple sites & it does it randomly only when I'm using my home router. If I am using another internet provider, it doesn't happen & I've checked a few forums & all of their solutions don't work for me. I was advised not to delete & reinstall Safari but I'm afraid it is only occuring at home that something is wrong with the services/router/signal because nothing else has worked. If I take it to the apple store or anything of the like, it will work so it's not as if I can "show" someone unless they're at my home.

I have some spreadsheet data as comma-separated values text files (.csv), and some .xls files as well, but when I open them in NeoOffice or a spreadsheet application all accented characters are being displayed as black diamonds with question marks in them. In TextWrangler, they appear as screwy letter combinations, no diamonds in that case. Someone viewing the same file in Windows though sees the proper characters. I don't understand character encoding very well at all. How I can open or convert these files to use the proper encoding? I'm opening them in NeoOffice as UTF-8 but the Mac's native encoding of Latin-1 or whatever is messing things up.

I don't know what happend to my websites, but many of them are displaying blue boxes with question marks instead of pictures. Some of the sites are Facebook, Abercombie, Hollister, etc. I read somewhere that it may have been due to the adobe flash update I installed.

I have blue stains or marks on my white Macbook casing. The problem seemed to lie in faulty plastic being used, amongst other reasons and excuses given. Some people had serious staining issues and received replacement casings. My Macbook is a 2010 release, either Week 1 or 13 (hard to see on back), serial number beginning W801.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend's just got a new MacBook Pro, MacOS 10.6.2, latest version of Safari, and she's having problems with a lot of websites displaying some links and text strangely, as A's in boxes (pic attached). Oddly, the other 2 user accounts on her machine are fine with the same websites! She's cleared the cache, restarted Safari and her Mac (many times), changed the text encoding (and then back again), but nothing solves it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis problem is constant with no bearing on location, websites and about 75% of the images frequently won't load. When entering websites, maybe 10% of the time, the browser will tell me that the page is no good/can't find the server. When I come back later in the day I can view the site. Also with images, on blog websites, photosharing sites, or Facebook, some images will load but most won't.
Things I've already tried to fix the dilemna:
I have tried with both Safari and Google Crome.I have restarted my computer.I have restarted the browers.I have gone in to Sytem Prefences/Network and reestablished my internet connection.I have given Flash permission when it asks(although it usually doesn't ask on the websites I'm trying to access)

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a imac where there are suppose to be pictures i get a blue box with a question mark inside. it happens on both safari and firefox. it is as if the web page does not recognize that picture. I tried everything redownloading Flash Quicktime and java. I went to quicktime and made sure only the quicktime box is checked. it is like my pictures don't show up and are replaced with the blue box with the question mark inside. I am not the only one with this problem apple calles it the Blue box of death. I tried everything.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have it set to create a mosiac of a folder from pictures in iphoto. I have over 40,000 pics and of different colors. whenever screensaver is turned on it uses greens to form a picture.
Anyone know the problem? I deleted photos and then imported them again.
many times I receive pictures that won't show up and I only get a small blue box with a question mark inside. Is the problem the format of the pictures or some other error? I know that on a PC I would get a small red box at times when something wouldn't load properly. Do I need some plugin or is the problem elsewhere?

I used a new USB flash drive this morning to transfer my pictures to. It showed it was transferring them then the screen went blue and nothing responded. I shut down the computer and unplugged everything but now when I turn the computer back on it shows my home screen and I can see the mouse icon moving around but I am unable to 'click" on any of my programs and get a response.Â

Since yesterday, Safari stopped displaying Facebook properly. I get a white page with no formatting, just a column of links. That is the only site I have problems with. All others seem to work fine and Facebook displays properly if I'm using Firefox. ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy safari browser on my iMac hasn't been displaying pages right since yesterday and I cannot figure out whats going on.
I've reseted Safari (cleared cookies, cache) and also tried turning my internet on and off and restarted my mac several times. I've even tried repairing permissions in disk utility.
Firefox and Chrome seem to be working perfectly but Safari will not format the pages the right way, all i mainly get is text unless a picture is linked to another page.
I have the latest version of Safari and am running Snow Leopard 10.6.6
I have attatched screen shots
my Safari is displaying fonts in a weird way - [I have to adjust the font size constantly in order to read webpagesIf i enter passwords, no fonts are visible, but i am actually able to enter the password - the cursor stays on the left of the field. What I have tried is changing fonts etc. - nothing helped. The attached picture should show lines of text, but the letters are all written over each other - this is what it looks like
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering why some websites when turned to the "Reader" option in Safari, some html characteristics are missing. One that I noticed was the <hr> tag that creates an horizontal line across an html page. Is that a normal thing for Reader to do? Can it be forced to display that somehow?Â

I've been having this weird problem with Safari for almost two months now even before the 5.1.4 update. I even went to Apple Genius with my macbook pro and they said the problem is minor and should be fixed with the new update (5.1.4), but the problem still persists!Â
Basically, whenever I go on YouTube for EVERY/any video and click on the "more info" button to look at the information spread on videos, all the remaining texts and links are "invisible." I have to literally highlight everything in the information spread in order to permanently display the texts, links, etc after enlarging the information tab. I've tried updating everything (Safari--both 5.1.3 and 5.1.4, OSX, repairing disk permissions, all settings are on in Safari, etc) to NO AVAIL! It's so frustrating and annoying. I'm not that tech savvy, so I don't quite understand what kind of problem this applies to whether CSS, JAVA, Flash, or whatever else. A genius bar representative said it's not Flash (which I also updated and reinstalled a few times), since I can load and watch videos perfectly fine. He was able to reproduce the problem on one of the macbook airs at the store and that's when he said the problem should be fixed with the newest update. Chrome and other browsers work perfectly fine with YouTube on my MacBook as well.

I have set [URL] as a top site. However the Citibank page does not display correctly when viewing all of my top sites. The error message for the Citibank page reads "Your browser is not accepting cookies." When i click on the page, it does fully load. Â
Citibank is the only page that does not display correctly within the top sites window display. I have attempted to changed the cookie settings with no success. Is anyone else expierencing this problem with Citibank?
