Why doesn't safari history save google searches in OS 10.6.8 or Lion? It records image searches but not the google search unless you use the google search on the bar and not in the window.

First of all, my history does not save. I don't have any private browsing thing on.Also, if I add bookmarks, they dont save. If I try and delete existing ones, they dont delete. They just... regenerate

If I am in Google Maps Street View and I try to quit Safari, it always refuses to quit. (ie. Nothing happens at all when I click Cmd+Q)
If I come out of Street View, by zooming out into Satellite or Map view, or by going to another site altogether, Safari will quit normally.
As far as I know Street View is the only thing that causes this problem of Safari refusing to quit.
I'm running Safari 5.1.7 at the moment, (although the same thing happened in previous versions), and OS X 10.6.8.

I am on a macbook pro, osx 10.9.2, safari 7.0.3.
When I try opening google, yahoo, facebook and etc, it keeps coming back with "safari cannot open pages because the sever where this pages located is not responding.". But i can open it with Google Chrome that installed in the same macbook.
Also the it doesn't allow iphoto to login facebook but it works fine with flickr.

Bing tends to prioritize search results for me, with lots of junk, paid ads coming up first and very few results on the first page. Since updating Safari recently to 5.1.5, if I choose the Mail Link to This Page command, instead of opening Mail.app with a new email with the link pasted in, it launches Google Chrome and, in Chrome, goes to the email login page for Google webmail. If I choose the Mail Contents of This Page command, I get an error message stating: "Safari can't create an email message because Google Chrome.app doesn't support sending webpages from Safari. You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send webpages." Safari is set as my default browser. This behavior started immediately after the 5.1.5 update.I use these commands pretty regularly and, through many version of mail.app and Safari, there has never been a glitch. Any ideas, folks? Or is this a bug introduced by 5.1.5 or some other recent Software Update? (Software updates are completely up to date and on 10.7.3.)

I just can't understand this after doing a thorough through many forums. But when I open Applescript and try to save a script in the "Save As" window, it rejects any filename I give it. I copied and pasted an Apple script for toggling my sound output from Line Out to Headphones. So when I chose "Headphones" as the file name in the "Save As" window I keep getting this error message: "The document "Untitled" could not be saved as "Headphones". But it doesn't matter what name I give the applescript file, I keep getting this: The document "Untitled" could not be saved as "............"

Previously the solution was to install Safari plugins Inquisitor or Glims but Apple have removed the interfaces from Safari 4 that these plugins used - and there is still no built in Safari Preference to set the locale of the Google search. Effectively this renders the Safari Google Search field pretty well useless - at least for UK users. 1. Checking if Private Browsing is on. [It wasn't]
2. Resetting Safari. [Still won't record]
3. Uninstalling and Reinstalling [No effect]

I gave my parents my old iMac to use so they can start browsing the web. However, every time they start to type in a web address and safari butts in with its autocomplete history, it confuses the heck out of them and they don't know what to do. So basically I want to completely disable Safari's history, or at the very least, its autocomplete feature. I've looked everywhere and can't find the option for this.

Firstly, "private browsing", "reset safari" and "empty cache" all appear under the edit menu in safari. I don't recall having seen them earlier, does this mean they have been recently used or is it part of the standard menu? Also, in the internet history whilst no webpages can be found there are some obscene jpegs. Images found in the internet history, have they been deliberately viewed or is it possible that they find their way there behind the scenes?
