Safari 5.1.4 running under Lion (10.7.3) and the previous Safari version on Snow Leopard alyway tries to open a pdf file using the Quicktime plugin. This results is a mostly unreadable document. The previous versions didn't do that. If I go to Library/Internet Plugins and remove Quicktime plugin.plugin Safari works as before.

Both have Bookmark syncing enabled, but my Mac Safari Reading List is not syncing with my iPad.I disabled/renabled, logged-out and logged-in on both devices, but still no syncing.All my other items, Contacts, Calendar etc. are syncing correctly. Just not the reading list.

When I double click on a PDF file book in iTunes, Preview on my MBP will open up allowing me to read it. However, when clicking an ePub file nothing happens. Nothing opens. And of course I'd like for something to open up allowing me to read it on my Mac.
I bring up this thread cause I remember not too long ago Pages allowed for ePub conversion, figuring at the very least Pages could/would open up. Anyone have any recommendations for my wanted outcome of wanting an ePub file from iTunes to open up on my Mac?
I need to convert mpg files to flv and 3gp. I can to the .mpg to .flv with iMovie, but problem is, iMovie doesn't read all my mpg files. Are there any free applications that do this? If not, what's a good one for a reasonable price?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy friends HDD corrupted its self, so i've got it plugged into my computer and can see all the files through Ubuntu.
Now, when i say Files, i mean i can see all the folders and some files.
All the Folders are there, but like in windows an account has been made and a password put on it, so i can't copy these folders across to my computer because i can't read them so to speak.
I can get all the passwords if need be, but i don't get a password prompt or anything?
Any ideas how to get round it?
I have an external hard drive connected to my Time Capsule that is loaded with a bunch of VIDEO_TS folders of all my DVDs, and I have that drive aliased in my "Movies" folder on my MacBook Pro, so when I open Front Row, it points to my external HDD, and everything is hunky-dory. But I also have other files in this HDD (a bunch of JPG files) that are also being seen by Front Row. For reasons that are too boring to get into, I don't want to separate the files into different locations, I would like to keep them together. But my goal is to be able to somehow block Front Row from seeing these JPG files and just display the list of my DVDs instead. Is there any way to tell my alias to block out the JPGs, or some way to hide the JPGs from that particular alias, or something along those lines?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI had saved a webpage on the Safari Reading List. I pulled it up, read a little, and saw it disappeared from the Reading List. I had ot finished reading it, so I decided to re-save it to the list, but the Add Page button on the Reading List window was greyed out. Nothing I did would change the greyed out button to make it functional.

I opened safari and all of my tabs/reading list were thrown way outta wack.The reading list is "empty" but has hundreds of greyed out stuff behing the glasses and explanation. Everytime i add something to the list it adds the item multiple times, 1 at first then 2 for the next item ad infinitum.My once polished tabs bar has been riddled with old stuff that I never put there.

As of today, Safari only opens links by bouncing them to the reading list. I have to go find them in there and click on them again to view the link. Why are the links not opening directly in the browser window, the way you'd expect? I haven't changed any prefs or anything like that. I'm on Lion.

I have a long, long list of links in my Safari Reading list, which is linked to my iCloud to sync automatically.
When I go way back to my oldest link, about 2 years old, after I click and open it, the link is deleted from Reading List !
I looked in Safari Preferences and set "History update" to manual, but this has no effect (I'm not totally surprised).

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been using the 'Reading List' as a default Bookmark list as I find it more accessible than the old Bookmark system in Safari. After recently updating Safari my reading list has developed a bug. Firstly my entire list had disappeared (most annoying and inconvenient as I began rely on the list for my continuing study of important references in relation to my business) but I strangely I do get a multiple entry of my last used item. In fact the last time I opened up the list I had about ten duplications of the same bookmark. A recent example is below. My other references (which incidentally, courtesy of iCloud appear on my iPhone bookmarks) have disappeared.

I've recently made the move from a PC to a Mac, and so far, everything gone very smoothly. I got iWork with my Mac, and there is one problem that's bugging me; every time I open a word (docx) document in pages, it asks me if I want to keep the changes or discard them, and that is for when I am just reading them. When I edit them, and I go to save it, it keeps bringing up the save as box instead of overwriting the present docx file.
I've already installed any missing fonts I have in my documents. So, to summarize, my two main problems are: If I read a docx file, Pages acts like I made changes to it, despite the fact that I did not. If I edit a docx file, Pages keeps bringing up the save as dialog box when I try to save, instead of overwriting the original docx file. The same thing happens with Numbers and Keynote. I just need a temporary fix 'til I can get a hold of Office 2011.
I can't understand when I try to open PDFs on a website, and even after trashing Adobe Reader, I am not allowed to read PDFs on web sites?

Running OS X (10.9.3) and Safari 7.0.4. Can't print pdf files from Safari and sometimes can't download them either (error says they are corrupted) but I can download from a windows laptop. I found something online about disabling a pdf plug-in, but it was for Lion, so not sure if it's still the correct fix. Also, how to uninstall a plug-in unless you provide exact locations of where the plug-ins are stored.

I now download PDFs into my computer from the internet (with mixed success), which is several steps more than has ever taken me in the past. Since finding this problem I have updated the Adobe Reader and run system updates today, to no avail. Adobe reports that there is a compatibility issue between Safari 5.1 and Adobe Reader. They offer several solutions none of which has worked for me. [URL]. Is updating Safari going to work for me, or are there other solutions?

View 1 Replies View RelatedUp to now it hasn't bothered me much, but today I wanted to download iBank 4 Quick Start Guide. When I clicked on the link for the guide, Safari went to a pdf page and displayed the first page of the pdf. When I selected "Save As" it gave me a name for the file and the download destination. When I said OK, I got this error: The document “iBank_4_Quick_Start.pdf” could not be exported as “iBank_4_Quick_Start”. This happens for every pdf page I try to download. I get an error every time. The only work around I've found has been to right click (control click) on the button that takes you to the pdf file and select "Save linked file to the desktop" Safari used to allow you do a "Save As" for all pdf's.
