View 9 RepliesWhen I opened my reading list this morning and added an entry I got a very weird list - multiple redundant entires that seem to replace the other entries I had. Checked on my reading list on my iPhone - just like it should be.

How do I remove reading list items?

iPad 2, iOS 5.1
I have iCloud enabled on my Mac (10.7.3) and iPad (5.1). Both have Bookmark syncing enabled, but my Mac Safari Reading List is not syncing with my iPad. I disabled/renabled, logged-out and logged-in on both devices, but still no syncing. All my other items, Contacts, Calendar etc. are syncing correctly. Just not the reading list.

What is the easiest way to backup all sites that I put in reading list (about 50 of them)? I plan to install Mountain Lion but I want to backup reading list first.

when I click on page save for offline reading in safari reading list top sites will come instead of page which I Saved.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had saved a webpage on the Safari Reading List. I pulled it up, read a little, and saw it disappeared from the Reading List. I had ot finished reading it, so I decided to re-save it to the list, but the Add Page button on the Reading List window was greyed out. Nothing I did would change the greyed out button to make it functional.Â

I opened safari and all of my tabs/reading list were thrown way outta wack. The reading list is "empty" but has hundreds of greyed out stuff behing the glasses and explanation. Everytime i add something to the list it adds the item multiple times, 1 at first then 2 for the next item ad infinitum. My once polished tabs bar has been riddled with old stuff that I never put there.

As of today, Safari only opens links by bouncing them to the reading list. I have to go find them in there and click on them again to view the link. Why are the links not opening directly in the browser window, the way you'd expect? I haven't changed any prefs or anything like that. I'm on Lion.

I have a long, long list of links in my Safari Reading list, which is linked to my iCloud to sync automatically.Â
When I go way back to my oldest link, about 2 years old, after I click and open it, the link is deleted from Reading List !Â
I looked in Safari Preferences and set "History update" to manual, but this has no effect (I'm not totally surprised).Â

I have been using the 'Reading List' as a default Bookmark list as I find it more accessible than the old Bookmark system in Safari. After recently updating Safari my reading list has developed a bug. Firstly my entire list had disappeared (most annoying and inconvenient as I began rely on the list for my continuing study of important references in relation to my business) but I strangely I do get a multiple entry of my last used item. In fact the last time I opened up the list I had about ten duplications of the same bookmark. A recent example is below. My other references (which incidentally, courtesy of iCloud appear on my iPhone bookmarks) have disappeared.

After the software update I had earlier on in the day, I can't seem to open up the Reading List on Safari.

How the blazes do you you get rid of MULTIPLE entries in ical? I have read many answers and printed off a few to follow them but invariably i get to a point where I am unable to take the next step! I back track and and unable to find a fault of where I went wrong!! Then I have to ask myself WHY? Why on earth am I having to go to such extreme lengths to get rid of the unwanted entries?Come on now Apple it is you who should be providing the simple logic answer to this?I decided to give up? just ignore the other entries it easier than going frantic trying (and anyway I am frightened I may throw the macbook in my temper)

My Open With... menu has multiple entries of apps. Example; Right click .avi file, open with... VLC, Quicktime, Other, VLC, Quicktime, Other and over and over it goes. I have rebuilt the LaunchServices database with Onyx, and this didn't work. I have also deleted the LaunchServices.plist file.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to figure this out for several days now, and I'm lost. I have a secondary storage disk installed in my old Powermac G4. It mounts fine, and I can read everything on it. But when I transfer files to it, they seem to disappear. Going into Disk Utility, everything seems fine, too. But when I bring up Terminal and go into /Volumes, there's something seriously wrong. The directory shows 'Mac HD' and 'Storage', the two volumes that should be there, but there are also 'Storage 1' and 'Storage 2' in there.
The files I transferred to 'Storage' are showing up on that volume, but not on the duplicate volumes, and it appears that it is actually 'Storage 2' that is mounting. So WTF is going on here? How did this happen, and how do I fix it? Since the files I need are on the original instance of the volume, it looks like I need to remove the two duplicates and re-link the mount point to the original disk. But how?
Recently I got a 3Gs and loaded it up with my old 3G backup. All the music was gone. No biggie, I just re-added it all. Then I upgraded to 3.1 and i noticed that in my iPod on the iPhone some of my albums were showing up as multiple entries. The difference is, it seems it would make a new album entry for every artist on the album. It's annoying because I used to just have one album but now its like 15 entries and i have to scroll through them all when they should all fall under that same album. WTF 3.1

I recently decided to sync my Safari reading list between devices, using iCloud. Â
When I altered the iCloud settings on my Macbook so that Safari was synced, what happened was not synchronization. Â
What happened was, my up-to-date Macbook Safari reading list (Date X) was replaced with my dated iCloud Safari reading list (Date X minus say 100 days), and the intervening items apparently lost.Â
I need to retrieve the items lost in this synchronization failure.

While surfing the web and trying to save on my reading list. I accidentally deleted the information on my reading list. So all the saved websites are gone.
I don't have time machine set up or an external hard drive to be able to get it back.Â
Is there any alternative way to recover or undelete this?Â

I'm running an old software, it's Mac OS X, ver. 10.4.11, 2 GHZ intel core 2 duo. Safari version 4.1.2. On the Safari tabs at top, "Bookmark" tab, just under "bookmarks bar"option are two websites that are not websites that I have bookmarked. I can't make them go away. I have tried to right click on them but to no avail. They aren't opened anywhere else. Found them right after a new power up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMaybe this was discussed elsewhere; if so, I couldn't find it:
Often I need to select multiple separate items from a large folder of them; I use list view, and command-click on each item, and then drag the whole batch to the appropriate location. It appears that in Snow Leopard (unlike previous OS X versions), when if I scroll down the list to select further items, it jumps back to the top-most selected item after a couple seconds. This makes it completely impossible to select further items! Is there a preference to turn this "function" off? Why would anyone want such a thing? Even if it is what the Finder is meant to do, it seems implemented poorly, since if I grab the scrollbar slider and drag it down below my selected items, after the couple seconds the view jumps back to the topmost item, but the slider doesn't move. All it all, it feels like a glitch.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSafari 5.1.4 running under Lion (10.7.3) and the previous Safari version on Snow Leopard alyway tries to open a pdf file using the Quicktime plugin. This results is a mostly unreadable document. The previous versions didn't do that. If I go to Library/Internet Plugins and remove Quicktime plugin.plugin Safari works as before.

Is there a way to stop PDF's from opening inside of Safari? I figure there is some type of solution to this but I can't be bothered to figure it out myself as I have wasted too much too much time on it already.
