Nov 2, 2009I have an iWeb website which comes up on the first page of google if the correct (and most likely) things are searched for. But at the moment it displays on Google in an odd way - the main result is a random PDF I have on my site and then, under that as a sub-result, is the title "Home" (my home page) and the snippet of text it displays is the menu on my homepage. How can I make the main title of the result say something like "SS957916's Fantastic Website - Photos, videos and more" with the text snippet being body text from my site rather than the menu?!

Apr 13, 2009Well for all the main sites I visit with safari they load up fine. But one site and only one doesn't display correctly. It shows up fine in firefox but not in safari. I can use the site alright in safari but I would like it if I could make it display correctly. And I really don't feel like switching over to firefox because I prefer using safari. So is there any way I can fix this issue without having to switch browsers every time I visit the site.

May 10, 2012something weird is going on with safari, when I go to my wifes website it crashes on load. The site works fine on my macbook but not on my Macpro, any ideas? The site loads fine on my farther's Windows machine and everyone elses so I am thinking its local to my mchaine.

Safari 4 seems to provide a warning when Google has tagged a website with potential Malware. I don't know if this Malware is Mac or PC but thought it was interesting. I've attached a screenshot to see what I mean.

May 22, 2012Top Site screen was stuck on 12 past viewed sites and non-responsive to updates. Choose edit and deleted all sites that were showing back to a blank screen. Now, zero sites are able to be added and blank screen continues. What next to normality?

Jun 12, 2009in firefox, if you type two words in the URL bar, it will pickup the site. For example, my firefox will list every url i've been to in order of popularity if type mac - (it will show macrumours, apple, 9to5mac, etc)
if i type mac on safari it will list all url's beginning with the word mac.
How do i get safari to behave like firefox? You can see the benefits of firefox as getting to a url you don't quite remember is easy.

MacBook Pro :: SSL Connection Error - Site Loads In Safari But Not In Firefox
Aug 30, 2014I have a Macbook Pro (Lion originally installed) running on Mavericks (all latest updates). SSD installed and the DVD tray is replaced by the original HDD.Â
The laptop wasn't running very smooth anymore so decided to give it a fresh Mavericks install (even though I know it's not really necessary for mac, everything is much faster except a weird internet problem came up).
After freshly installing Mavericks I couldn't get into my google account anymore, just wouldn't load. Tried Safari (use this normally) and Firefox and Chrome, this last was gave a SSL connection error, both Safari and FF said the website couldn't be loaded because the server didn't respond. For Gmail I use Mailplane which is just stuck on a white page. I tried repairing the keychain, repaired disk and disk permissions, cleaned browsers, turned off firewall and antivirus (Shopos) started in safe mode, checked time settings which were all good. Nothing... I even ended up creating a usb bootdisk for Mavericks, formatted the disk and reinstalled from the start just Mavericks and nothing else, started Safari, still the same problem. I figured it's not worth reinstalling all software so put back my backup.
Now I ended up somehow only being able to use Gmail normally in Firefox, Chrome still gives SSL error and Safari can load the inbox, but I can't open any messages. I get the error there is a problem with the connection. If I try in Basic HTML mode it surprisingly does work.
You would say, just use Firefox, finished...but the thing is that sometimes random websites won't load in Firefox, when I load the same site in Safari it works perfectly.
O yes, I also tried the connect to my iPhone and use the Cellular data network, then it's no problem using Gmail in Safari normally. You would say it's a router problem, but I have another Macbook Pro (just one model later running Mountain Lion) this one works perfectly with every browser. Also my iPhone does everyting logged into the WiFi network.Â

Dec 1, 2014Safari home page is defaulted to "only-search.com" and it won't let me change it. MacBook Pro, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB, running OS10.7.5 and Safari version 6.1.6 (7537.78.2). I checked software update for OS and Safari (auto, though checked myself) and everything is up to date. I change the "Homepage" and when I restart Safari the "only-search.com" web page keeps coming up. On occasions a message also appears that "my web browser is about to crash and yes or no to clean it" which I have ignored. How to get a clean Safari version?Â

OS X :: Make Safari Faster?
Oct 17, 2010I did work out that one reason I don't get anywhere close to the so called 8-9 h battery life on my i5 MBP is that I use Opera as my Browser. Even though I force the Intel GPU it seems with Safari the battery estimate looks a lot better (still only at minimum Brightness it reaches 8-9h and never on 50% birghtness as Apple says).
But since I only use the Touchpad and not a mouse to control the Browser I thought that the more important stuff Safari should be able to do too at least as a mobile browser.
I put some gestures in BetterTouchTool (same as for Opera). (i.e. single tiptap for back and forward, twofinger tiptab to switch tabs, threefingerswipe up/down to open and close tabs, in short I imitate the mouse gestures I am used to.
a. What is the best way to port my bookmarks? And (optional) is there any reasonable way for syncing?
I use Opera Link for all my different PCs, OSs and it works brilliantly because all I have to do after a reinstall is typ in name and password and everything is setup in seconds. I never used mobile me and do not really intend to do so, as it costs and I don't benefit from any family license, and I don't feel the need for any other mobile me feature. It is simply a little overpriced for simple syncronisation.
b. How do I change(not add) short cuts? I found a page for all the safari short cuts and there are many of them. I don't really like some of them though. One of the reasons I think Opera is superior to most other browser are the single key short cuts. They are off by default because they would most likely confuse anybody who doesn't know about them but they make everything more efficient.
The most important being all though it is a default setting and not really a single key short cut is the . instead of CMD+F and Enter instead of CMD+J. And I'd like some single key for CMD+G. I don't know how to change it in Safari and if I change it globally somehow it probably wouldn't work, because it is important for this kind of shortcuts to differntiate between a I am just writing something state and the I am not typing anything but want to control the browser state. It is my understanding only the browser can really do that.
The reason is simple and being that it works so much faster. In Opera with mouse gestures you can do almost anything with the mouse and never have to lift a finger to get most things done where Safari often needs a cmd+click or whatever. And you can navigate expecially big sites faster than they are loaded only by keyboard. Press "." some String and Enter to get to a certain menu item and klick it. CMD+F a String CMD+J is as weird as it may sound to some, just worlds slower. It gets even worse if you only have one hand free to do the same task.
I truly never really understood this whole speed thing with browser because loading speed is rarely an issue if you have a fast connection. IMO it is all about the time you need to get to where you want to be.
c. code/abreviation/shortcuts for search engines? That should be fairly easy because you can easily teach it to Firefox, but I don't know how. In Opera again only stupid people use this search box. The one you click and select a search engine and than typ something and press enter. Most people just use a short cut for the search engine and typ in the normal address bar. Like you typ "maps London" and it opens google maps and zooms to London. The same works for pretty much anything and is brilliant because you can search in the german and english wikipedia by only slightly different short cuts. It is slow to first having to use the mouse to select the search engine, then go back to the keyboard and typ something. Who does that?
In fact with out this search box nonsense you get a real simple gui. I have the fit to width button and the address field and thats all you really need in Opera.
In FF you can go to manage your searches and put codes in and works the same as in Opera. It is more difficult to set up but it works. I guess in Safari it should work too and Safari would give me about an extra hour of battery life or more as the estimate is telling me when I CMD+Q Opera. No Idea what Opera is doing when it ain't doing anything.

Dec 31, 2006I'd love to use Safari more, it's so fast and smooth, but whenever I use it's RSS reading function it feels so redundant and dumb, it's like why don't I just go to the blog as I normally do? I love how in Firefox I can just see all the new stories quickly in a drop-down menu and go stright to the ones I want to read right away, is there no way at all to do that in Safari? Or is there some plugin program out there that does that?
