Some, but not most websites, give me an error message that Safari will not accept cookies despite the preference to accept all cookies. Is there another setting I'm not aware of.

How can I block all/3rd party cookies in Safari 5.1.4? I've tried Privacy options; however, it appears blocking does not work.

Everytime I quit the Safari, it automatically deletes all my cookies data, even though I ask it not to. In the settings section it seems ok, cause I checked in the check box to save my cookies.

I had a trial for MobileMe for a while, and recently I stopped the trial as it was coming to its end. Once it was cancelled, I started to notice that cookies weren't saving anymore within Safari, and I've tried everything to re-enable them. It's crap because every-time I go to a site (such as these forums) I've gotta enter my login info. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I think it's still looking for the cloud bookmarks, and yes, I have gone into the system prefs and removed my mobileme info, and I've also made sure that in the Safari prefs that the option "sync bookmarks with mobileme" is also unchecked, yet my cookies aren't saving or anything. Not sure if it's related to mobile me though.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMore than 100 cookies instantly reappear. I tried emptying cache. I tried deleting individual cookies. I changed the setting to always block instead of just third party. I changed plugin settings and auto fill settings. I don't know what else to try. Still, the cookies persist.

I have set my Safari Preferences originally to block cookies from advertisers and third parties, but it ignores that setting. Finally, I set it to block all cookies. It also ignores that setting. Is there any way to have Safari recognize it's own preference settings? By the way, I had to use Firefox to sign on here at the Apple Website today. Safari no longers seems to work with the Apple discussion site. Very odd.

Latest Safari 5.1.7 blocks all cookies by default. Is it feature or bug? I can't login to any website that require cookies (for example Google Accounts).

stop selected cookies from being set in Safari? For instance, I would like to permanently block cookies from, say, Facebook and Google Analytics. I have tried clicking the radio button in Preferences>Privacy that supposedly blocks cookies from Third Parties and Advertisers, and like many other users I have found that it does nothing. I get just as many cookies from third parties and advertisers whether the button is clicked or not. As far as I can tell it’s a placebo.
Apple’s Safari help on this issue is suspiciously carefully worded. It says that if you click the radio button, “this MIGHT HELP prevent certain advertisers from storing cookies on your computer.” What?!! What’s with the “might” and “help”? Talk about weasel words! Does it work or doesn’t it? Is it so difficult for software to recognize and delete a cookie? I find it pretty hard to believe that the problem is technical and not, um, deliberate. Apple is, after all, in the information business just like all the other major players.
Anyway, the software that people usually recommend for zapping cookies is Safari Cookies, but that deletes them only when you quit Safari – in other words, after said cookies have reported back to their source. So what’s the point? By then they have done exactly what you are trying to stop them from doing. I want the cookies deleted when they are set – BEFORE my privacy is compromised.
An application I am trying to use needs to have cookies enabled. My Safari Preferences for Security do not show cookies. In fact it only shows selections for Fraudulent sites and Web content. I am the admin. What do I need to do to see these settings?

I have a number of persistent Cookies that show as Cache. Some Cookies are classed as cookie and others as Cache or Locally stored. How can I remove these Cookies that are classed as 'cache'. Deleting through Safari>Preferences>Private>Delete doesn't work. Deleting Safari folders in the >User>Home folder also has no effect.

I want to back-up all Bookmarks, cookies etc from Safari whilst my iMac goes away to Apple for repair.I then want, should anything happen to them whilst it is away (unlikely, as it is a failed DVD drive, but one can't be too careful!) to be able to restore them at a later date. How can I do this?
What file(s) do I need to copy to my external drive and how can I later restore all current bookmarks, settings, etc?Is it just a case of copying, deleting and later restoring the plist file?I've backed up most other important data and settings but my mind has gone inexplicably blank (don't you dare mention advanced age!) on Safari!

I'm sure there used to be an option to only allow cookies from websites I visit in earlier versions of Safari so my question is have Apple removed some very useful functionality from Safari or have they just hidden somewhere else?

Why can I still get Google cookies even when when I have "Always block cookies" checked? I can close Safair, then reopen it without even entering any site and Google will stick their *#@*&@ cookies and cache files in my Website data file?
The "tons" of cache files that I don't even go to the site keep cluttering up the website data file also.
If I don't shut down Safari before unchecking "always" and returning to "from 3rd parties" sites that were visited will have their cookies appear, even though don't have that site page open.
The iOS Safari seems to be better at preventing cookies and cache files from accumulating.

How can I delete tracking cookies on a MacBook, Safari 7.0.3?Will this prevent airlines, car rentals, Expedia, etc from knowing when I repeatedly search their sites for fares?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen having a terrible time since I decided to delete all my cookies. When I tried to log back into all my online accounts I found that despite choosing "remember me" or other similar choice, if I logged out of my computer or even if I quit Safari (or Safari quit on me which it does a lot these days) I had to log back in to the online account, as if the identity cookie did not take. Tonight I stumbled onto my Console Log which I found has line after line of the following: 2012-03-05 22:28:34.275 Safari[12743] Could not open cookie file "/Users/ryan/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist" for reading. I clicked on the cookie plist, had to input my log in password and the document that came up showed it had recorded nothing since 2/28 which was the day I deleted the cookies. Why would the cookie file suddenly not open?

I got lured by adbait and clicked on a retailer site. Ever since, this retailer's annoying, flashing ads are popping on sidebars on a number of other web sites I routinely use (e.g., NY Times). Eerily, the exact two items I looked at are what are showing up -- presumably to lure me back!
I went into Safari preferences, cookies, details, and found the retailer and deleted. Yet, those ads still appear. Is there something else I need to do? (and yes, I've restarted since then, and gone back and checked, and that retailer does not appear in the list of cookies).
Is there some other malevolent thing they've managed to track on me, other than cookies??
