Safari :: Continuous "Web Pages Not Responding" On It?
May 12, 2012
So I've been seeing a lot of these little spinning rainbow devils lately, and can't figure out why. I'm running 2011 MBP 15" i7 8GB 500HDD, and Safari 5.1.5. I'm mostly seeing it when I'm online. In fact it's spinning right now, and it's about the 5th or 6th time it's happened today. When I have few windows open on Safari, and 1 or 2 downloads running, I suddenly see this spinning wheel appear, and it doesn't go away. When I try to open other windows or refresh pages I get a warning saying that "web pages are not responding" and all the pages need to be force reloaded. So that means to continue on the internet I need to reload all my pages, and lose any current downloads.
Now the thing is that this never used to happen, everything was great. It started like a week ago. The only thing thats changed recently, but which shouldn't be making any issue is that I recently installed OSX Lion. I've run Onyx to see if that would solve anything, but it's still the same. I just can't seem to figure out what keeps causing this "web pages not responding" and spinning wheel, and my pages to freeze, and force reload?

i have a early 2008 octo mac pro, with it im using a philips 220ws, the problem i'm having is that scrolling a page be it safari, firefox or a pages doc. it seems to jutter along and doesnt move as smooth as my mac book, and when typing into either msn messenger, pages or even text edit letters seem to lag behind what im typing, ok it may only be for a secon and about 2 letters behind burt it gets annoying worse when back spacing. does anyone else have the problem or possible fix? im not using anything more than than the word processor, safari and msn at a time

I have had this MacBook 2.2 about three years or so. I have been using Safari Version 4 Public Beta (4528.16) for some time. It has been working OK, however recently I found a problem: Browser comes on as normal, it opens the email page but then, it stops responding to the clicks. I can not write a "new" message or anything else.
To deal with such situations I had some time ago installed the Camino 1.6.6,It works OK, a week or so ago I saw a prompt to upgrade my Camino to 1.6.7.
I did what one normally does, I down loaded it , pressed the button to 'install and run' it, but instead of doing what I thought it should do ,a dialoge box came up to tell me that some error has occurred, I should get in touch with the person who owns the computer. Well it did not say that in those words but it meant that.I am the person who owns it, uses it and I had put in the correct password, when it required.
It has happened a couple of times. I assumed It will resolve itself as glitches do,but no it has not. I have just tried it and the issue persists. Why has the Safari gone sour, and why I can not update the Camino 1.6.7.?

Since the last update my Safari 4.0.3 crashes a lot. Like 3 or 4 times a day. Either that or it shows the spinning beach ball, meaning Safari is not responding and needs to be force quit. It looks like it's happening when a page is (re)loading. This looks a lot like the continuous crashing that happened to Safari 4 when it was just launched (was that in April, or May?). That was then reason for me to switch to Firefox. If this keeps up I might do that again. Or maybe to Chrome.
(I'm still on OSX.5.8).

Safari is no longer responding because of a script on the webpage.....Do you want to continue running this script or stop?" This comes up on every single webpage I try to load. If I click STOP, it just keeps popping up, and I can't do anything else.

This has been going on lately with my computer. When I attempt to attach or search for a file to upload online, the colorful wheel of death spins and my Safari does not respond. I have to force quit Safari. I am unable to attach or upload anything because of this. I can search the web fine and everything else is okay.

Just downloaded MacKeeper onto my 2011 MBP. Suddenly when I open safari, every page stops responding almost immediately after loading. The pages load from the bookmarks, so I know that the connection is good. Once a page hangs I can open another page, which then also hangs.

On two different computers, Safari will occassionally (although it's getting more frequent), not load a page. I'll click on a link or a bookmark, it will put the address in the toolbar and the progress bar goes across, but it will stay on the current page. I'll reload the page and get the same effect (correct address, progress bar goes across, previous page) The toolbar has the new address, but the page will be the old page.
Quiting Safari resets it and it automatically goes to the new page upon reopening. Is there a way to keep Safari from doing this?

Often when I click on a weblink, Safari tries to load the new page, but nothing. The web address shows up in the bar at the top, but no response. It happens often. But, even when I'm having trouble, navigating around in some closed community like Facebook works fine, so it's not an internet connection problem. (I thought it was a connection problem at first--poor wiring?--but since I can move around in Facebook, I'm dismissing that.) Also, it happens both when the computers are connected through the routers or directly via Ethernet to the AT&T U Verse modem.
This started when we switched from Comcast cable to AT&T, but there have been numerous Safari updates since then. I don't really think it is a Safari problem. The only PC on the home network doesn't show this problem (but it is an older, slow PC); both Macs on the network exhibit the problem. Happens whether we use the ethernet network or go wireless (non-Apple routers).

Safari doesn't ask "are you sure you want to quit 2 pages?" How do you get that back? Because when im working on an application for instance and I accidentally command+Q another safari page instead of command+W, it all quits and when I relaunch all my information is gone.

I've had constant trouble with Safari 5.0 not wanting to load a page or constantly hanging with what appears to be one or two items left to load from the page. Often, I have to stop Safari and then reload the page to get it to work. I noticed quite a few other people having the same type problem on Apple's support forums. So far nobody seems to have an answer. Anybody have any ideas as to what's going on here?

I have a weird problem with Safari that has been bugging me. At seemingly random times it doesn't load a page. Usually it is the second page of a website I visit. This means that the homepage [URL] for example) loads fine. But when I click on a link on the page (to go to sports or politics), it starts loading and then does nothing. Like this:
The New York Times often doesn't load at all. I have no problems at all with some other sites, like wikipedia or Macrumors. Firefox and Camino do not have these problems.
The problem started when I was still running Tiger and Safari 2 on my MacBook. I since started using a MacBook Pro and moved all my data and settings with the Migration Assistant. The MacBook Pro runs Leopard, but Safari 3.0 has exactly the same problem as Safari 2 had on my Macbook. I tried the following:
- repair permissions
- removed all cookies and set my preferences to accept all cookies
- cleared cache
- manually removed the .plist-files for Safari from the Library
All to no avail. When I log in using the built-in Guest Account on my MacBook Pro, Safari runs fine.

The issue i've been having - which i'll do my best to explain! - is when i load pages in safari, their always off grid..(??)For instance; there will be say, 3 columns but 2 of the columns have started to overlapp?! So basically if i'm reading a news article, all the ads down the side will cover up pretty much everyline so i can't read it. If it's boxes, sometimes a few have shifted and there's only half a picture or half a video.. It's a tedious problem but totally irritating! It never used to be like that and i don't think i've even changed anything! It's probably something really simple, i just don't know how to fix it

My macbook is just over three months old, the other day my wireless internet connection cut out on it, but soon came back. Since then Safari is moving very slowly, every other page fails to load or will take up to a minute. To login to a page such as email or facebook is nearly impossible. When i have a page that will not load, the blue status in the url box usually doesnt go past the // in the http://, and it almost never fully reaches the end of the box Ive tried resetting safari and emptying the cache and it didnt help. I also contacted Comcast to see if it was a connection issue, but they found no problems.

My safari has stopped loading pages, happened 2 days ago. Firefox works fine but safari for some reason will not load pages.
My home page is topsites which comes up fine, but when i click on one of the topsite windows it begins to load and the status bar at the bottom reads, connecting "..." or loading"...". I'm also finding i cant upload videos to youtube or vimeo and my weather widget on dashboard also doesn't load quickly, im guessing its all related. I have seen the widget update but i have not seen a webpage load on safari as it was taking too long.
I cant get a hold of apple support they are closed.

Safari 4.0.4 on my Macbook Pro is incredibly slow. I type an address in the Safari bar, open Firefox, navigate to the same address, have it load, quit Firefox, and have Safari not even loading a little bit of the page yet. Most of the time it loads background colors (like the light gray at the top of this forum) but then slows to a crawl when trying to load the content.
I've tried reseting Safari, not having topsites as homepage, opening DNS, disabling IPv6, deleting a file in the pubsub folder and disabling the fraudulent site warning. All of these things were on the Apple's official discussion forums.
While these seemed to have helped a little, Safari 4 is still ridiculously slow compared to Firefox.
