Just downloaded MacKeeper onto my 2011 MBP. Suddenly when I open safari, every page stops responding almost immediately after loading. The pages load from the bookmarks, so I know that the connection is good. Once a page hangs I can open another page, which then also hangs.

Anyone having problems accessing gmail in Safari today? When I try to access the sign-in page, it tells me that "Safari can't open the page [URL] because your computer isn't connected to the Internet." I am clearly connected to the internet. Also, my Mail.app cannot connect to my gmail account and neither can my GPeek widget.
However, I have no problem accessing gmail via Firefox. I have noticed this problem a few times over the past 2-3 weeks, but though it was a google issue. Today was the first time I thought of trying to access gmail via Firefox, and it does, which points to Safari. Of course, now that I've finished typing this up, I can access gmail via Safari with no problems.
I have never had a problem before but, recently, my gmail isn't working with the mail application. I can see sent messages, but the mailbox no longer downloads mail from gmail. My inbox looks empty on the application even but, I logged into gmail on google and all the inbox messages were there.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am using a MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 with 228 free GB of 500 capacity. I am updated on iTunes with 11.2.2.
When ever I am on the My Podcasts page in iTunes and scrolling through my subscriptions I am consistently getting the pinwheel and am reading that the application is not responding. It is not affecting my ability to use other applications like safari or browse the internet so whenever this issue comes up I simply change applications and check back to itunes a couple minutes later to see if it has since gone away. It usually only takes a couple of minutes but it is geting increasingly frustrating as it happens consistently. I have noticed that it happens particularly more often or faster if I am scrolling through my podcast feed too fast.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.

using my white macbook, everytime i fire up safari it opens the last webpage that i visited, eg facebook or the login page of my bank account.
i have checked in preferences pane - ensured that the new windows and new tabs open with "homepage" and set the homepage field to [URL]( i even manually typed it in and selected "set to current page" to make sure it was ok ). then i go onto facebook, quit safari, re-open it and .. it's the facebook page again!
i reset safari and this has no effect. it didnt always used to be like this, just recently.
ps - so i used no capital letters, i broke my shoulder last week
I'm trying to make an extremely simple HTML page using TextEdit (saving it as an .html file) and none of my code seems to be working. It simply displays the code i typed in without having any effect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had this MacBook 2.2 about three years or so. I have been using Safari Version 4 Public Beta (4528.16) for some time. It has been working OK, however recently I found a problem: Browser comes on as normal, it opens the email page but then, it stops responding to the clicks. I can not write a "new" message or anything else.
To deal with such situations I had some time ago installed the Camino 1.6.6,It works OK, a week or so ago I saw a prompt to upgrade my Camino to 1.6.7.
I did what one normally does, I down loaded it , pressed the button to 'install and run' it, but instead of doing what I thought it should do ,a dialoge box came up to tell me that some error has occurred, I should get in touch with the person who owns the computer. Well it did not say that in those words but it meant that.I am the person who owns it, uses it and I had put in the correct password, when it required.
It has happened a couple of times. I assumed It will resolve itself as glitches do,but no it has not. I have just tried it and the issue persists. Why has the Safari gone sour, and why I can not update the Camino 1.6.7.?
Safari gives server not responding but only to one site.
The site is [URL]
It was used very day until it stopped yesterday but I can access the site on my PC network no problem. Its only on my Mac network that it cannot be seen even though all other sites are accessed OK.
Since the last update my Safari 4.0.3 crashes a lot. Like 3 or 4 times a day. Either that or it shows the spinning beach ball, meaning Safari is not responding and needs to be force quit. It looks like it's happening when a page is (re)loading. This looks a lot like the continuous crashing that happened to Safari 4 when it was just launched (was that in April, or May?). That was then reason for me to switch to Firefox. If this keeps up I might do that again. Or maybe to Chrome.
(I'm still on OSX.5.8).
Safari is no longer responding because of a script on the webpage.....Do you want to continue running this script or stop?" This comes up on every single webpage I try to load. If I click STOP, it just keeps popping up, and I can't do anything else.

Also when i click a link in vimeo it freezes up as well. I have to force quit and then re open the broswer. I use firefox to get around it but sometimes that acts up too. Do they need to release a new patch or something? I jsut want to know why did this start acting this way. All my software is up to date jsut to let you know and accessing safari on my ipad works jsut fine as well. I am using a imac to try to access my email and thats where the problems seem to be.

I've stumbled across some kind of glitch an I was wondering if anyone could shed light on it. Here are the symptoms...
Macbook Pro 17"
OSX 10.6.5
Safari 5.0.3
The whole page in Safari will go a bit insane (see pictures, glitching images change every half a second or so) whenever I click on the 'reply' text box when reading an email. As soon as the text cursor loads, glitch out. Interesting symptoms are that this happens sporadically, 3 times in 3 months, and although it recurs after refreshing the page, restarting Safari, or restarting the computer, it passes with time. Also interesting, when I went to take a full screen screenshot (alt+cmd+3) the computer produced a fully black image (makes a convenient black background incidentally) although when taking a partial screenshot (alt+cmd+4) it works fine.
During the past few hours I've tried to load gmail and youtube in FF and Safari multiple times, but every time I do I get the spinning wheel of death. The pages will load and whenever I try to click on something I will get the wheel.
Yesterday I was on a myspace page and I received a message saying something about how the Adobe page scripts for that page were being unresponsive or something? I'm not sure exactly what it said...
Anyways, is there any way I can get this resolved? It sounds like it has to do something with a plug-in or an update.
This is a pretty weird problem I've been having on and off for the past few months... Every now and then, when I type a URL into Safari, it loads a completely different site... For example, [URL].will load [URL].. This usually lasts for around 30 minutes or so, and then it goes back to normal. The URLs affected vary... right now, when I try to load [URL]., Safari loads an error page from Yahoo! (but the URL in the address bar is still [URL].). If I try to go directly to Gmail by typing in mail.google.com, Safari says "cannot connect to server". I attached a screenshot of what happens when I go to [URL].
