View 1 RepliesI recently upgraded my Safari version to 5.1.5 (not sure what it was earlier) - post that update, many websites (eg Gmail) have become exceedingly slow. They load on the Mac and then the final page takes ages to show. The internet connection is fine (my iPad loads them perfectly still) and I've cleared the cache and reset Safari but to no avail.

System alerts that I have upgrades. These are always an upgrade to OS X and Safari. The system will start the download but never finishes, therefore I have to reboot or cancel the download.

View 10 Replies View RelatedLast week my hard drive broke (with Snow Leopard) and I brought my macbook pro to an Apple Store, the HD was totally broken and they couldn't restore any data. They installed a new hard drive with Lion, when I got home I restored my data with Time Machine, but now Safari and VLC aren't responding, Safari opens but that's it and VLC doesn't even opens. Also the CPU of VLC and Webprocess gets to 100 %.

Ever since upgrading to OSX 10.7.4, Safari has been very slow loading websites that normally are very fast. When I open Safari or load a page I get the spinning ball for as long as fifteen seconds. This is especially problematic when I initially open Safari in the morning after my iMac has been asleep for several hours.

Trying to view a YourTube video on a new current iMac running 10.7.4.Video is embedded in site that I administer, so I need to check the link when I update. Get the dreaded " This video is currently unavailable" tag.The video played fine before the Safari 5.1.7 update, and plays fine on my Air and on my iPod.No other updates or software changes - only the Safari update. So the Safari upgrade broke the part where the browser identifies itself to YouTube so I get the HTML feed instead of Flash? No Flash loaded on this iMac, ever.

The mac seems to take a long time to boot up now and starting any application is not as rapid as before the upgrades. Also, browsing the net thru Safari is painfully slow.. (alsp very very slow in Firefox) I've alredy done a disk utility verify and repair and the Mac HD repaired OK.. Ive since re-booted and still have all the same issues?

Since I downloaded Yosemite, Safari opens, then the spinning ball appears, can not do anything and it generally shuts down on its own or I have to force quit.

I upgraded to Lion which seems to run fine. However, I no longer have access to my imported bookmarks that have several years worth of favorites. I also notice that I do not have access to the Bookmark editor that is supposed to open and allow me to move and arrange bookmarks. I click on show all bookmarks and I have the imported folder, but cannot access any of the bookmarks and the editor does not open. I used the disk utility to repair disk permissions, but this did not help.

Ever since I updated to the latest version of Safari, it has been very slow loading webpages and is also a great memory hog. I have been using Firefox (now) and don't have these problems, but I would prefer to use Safari if it will work.

Since I upgraded to OS X 10.7.3, Safari won't stay connected to the internet, if I am away from the keyboard for more than 120 seconds. My laptop (same operating system, & WiFi network) does not suffer this same problem.

I downloaded the most recent safari upgrade for Leopard (Not Snow Leopard). Every time I try to use it, Safari hangs the entire computer before loading the home page and takes a minimum 10 minutes before I can do anything. I just get the Spinning Pinwheel of Death. I tried reinstalling it but that hasn't worked.

I just want to let you know that I am really thankful for your help.
This is a 3-year old iMac version 10.4.11
I upgraded Safari as recommended a few days ago, and since then, Safari has not worked at all. At the same time, I was warned that my startup disk was full. Following the advice from some other mac help sites, I cleared the copies of my iTunes library to free space. I now have 6.72 Gigs of free space on my hard drive, but my computer is still running super slow. Just about every other thing I click on in Firefox gives me the rainbow wheel.
I ran Techtools and everything passed but the Directory Scan and Volume Structure.
As soon as a friend can loan me a hard drive, I was planning on backing up everything and re-installing. Is this the best thing to do, or is there something else to try first?
After my Yosemite upgrade, Safari has become very unstable. Constantly shutting down current screen(s) and or just sitting there loading a page until I get a "Safari Cannot Load Page" error due to servers not being found. Even on the Apple website this happens. Very frustrating when doing online banking and all info is lost when you have this issue happening upon an entry.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy iMAC is about 18 month old, and I had a software upgrade notification for my Safari browser. When I clicked on it to upload, a program from dll.ultimatesoft was seen on the screen, and asked me to approve and install. That message will not go away. The drop down box bounces up and down the screen. I re-booted, but it is locked. I tried typing in a different web address, and was semi-successful, till the ultimatesoft screen took over again in 60 seconds.

I am kicking around between upgrading video card in my 1st gen Mac Pro (2 x 2.66 dual core, 8gb ram) from 7300 Gt to ati 4870 vs. upgrading to a newer system altogether...
Newer MP has 2 x 2.66 quad cores, 12 gb ram with the 4870 card.) What kind of improved performance might I really expect or even notice when using photoshop, light video editing, 3d graphics.
I have not included costs because I want to focus on the performance boosts sans cost for the purpose of this discussion.
I have an iMac with Mac OSX 10.6.8 and 2.4 GH2 Intel Core 2 Duo processor.I want to upgrade to Lion so that I can use iCloud to share documents with my iPad.Do I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard first or can I upgrade directly to Lion?

Looking at getting a 13" MPB to replace my aging Macbook. I am aware of the imminent arrival of the next gen next year, but still seriously considering getting a current gen.
Anyway, I am debating between getting the 2.66GHz version with 4GB RAM and the 2.4GHz version with 8GB RAM. I already have a 500GB 7200rpm HDD which I will transplant into it. Some stage in the next year or so I will look into getting an SSD and optibay for it.
I know that if I get the faster processor I can upgrade the RAM at a later date, but is the faster processor worth the money, or would I be better spending on RAM?
Maybe this isn't the correct forum...I'm a newbie. Today, after checking and installing upgrades to my iMac OS X, I'm seeing a pop-up saying 'my existing messages need to be upgraded the first time I use Mail again." I'm not sure what it intends to do to my Mail messages and I'm slightly fearful because many of them are Outlook Express messages that were transferred from my old PC. Anyone gone ahead and done this 'mail upgrade' yet? and did you have any issues?
