OS9/OS8/System 7 :: Collection Of Fonts Crashes System When Opened In Finder?

May 21, 2012

I have an extensive collection of fonts (60,0000+). Several hundred of them will crash my system when I open one of them in Finder (double-click the suitcase). I picked one at random for some serious examination. I looked at my sample with many font tools. My latest tool was FontDoctor (v5 and v7). FontDoctor reported "no problems found" with my font. Yet the crash persists.Any tool that can do a thorough job of investigating and repairing my corrupt fonts.

Mac Mini :: System Crashes When Idle / Getting Out Of Blue Crashes

Jul 11, 2009

I have a late 2009 Mac Mini with 8GB of OCZ 1333 RAM and an Intel X25-M 160GB SSD. Running 10.6 fully updated and installed from scratch.I have been getting out of the blue crashes while the system is most of the times idle. Can it be the RAM? It's reported fine as 8GB 1333 DDR under the system info. The Intel SSD runs latest firmware.

This is the log from the last crash which happened a little ago.

OS X :: System Messed Up Fonts

Sep 27, 2009

I installed a load of new fonts, but unfortunately a lot of them were corrupt, so I had loads of crashes and hangs.I used Font Book to validate all my fonts, but when I clicked the remove button FB always crashed (due to a corrupt font, no doubt...).I tried FontDoctor, which claimed to have sorted out all my problems, but although things had improved FB still reported over 2,000 minor errors.

Intel Mac :: System Fonts Won't Work

Jun 26, 2012

I have a set of fonts that I need to use for a client's logo design.  When I switched over from my MBP to this newer iMac, not all of the fonts in the font book are working. I've  gone to several tech blogs and inquired about the issue and have gotten good advice but none seems to be the answer to my dilemma.  In the FontBook, I can see the following:

New Peninim
Ariel Hebrew
Corsiva Hebrew

But, when I try to engage them in either Photoshop or Illustrator,  nothing but blank boxes seems to come up.

Software :: Missing System Fonts - How To Restore Them

Feb 16, 2007

A couple of weeks ago I had a mess by copying fonts on /Mac HD/Library/Fonts. I Used Lynotype Font explorer to "Clean" my system folder. The problem that I have found is that it has erased (or I Have Erased) some of the files thst should be on this library/fonts folder.

Now Im getting a lot of Not found files. Doing a Spotlight search I connot find the files in My HD. Checking one by one from a list published by someone in this place I have manged to identify at least 15 without even getting to the letter D.

The question is... Is there a way to "Reintall" this fonts from the DVD's without having to reintall my whole operating system?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: How To Reinstall System Fonts

Trouble with fonts from the "Get Go". Now fonts are disappearing in my Adobe CS5 font lists while I'm working. Noticed in my System Fonts folder some fonts I had not noticed before. Is there any way to reinstall my system fonts without reinstalling the entire system. Also all the fonts  in my system folder seem to be Windows True Type fonts. Is this correct?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Uninstall The Last System Update To Fonts?

how do i uninstall the last system update?

It altered my helvetica font in a way that will cost me hundreds of hours re-kerning / resizing / repositioning text in  CAD files for at least 10 large scale projects in progress at my architecture office.

This is an extremely serious & very expensive issue that has to be affecting all architecture firms who use macs the same way as it's affecting me & my business.

Intel Mac :: How To Restore Missing System Fonts

May 22, 2012

I recently installed a couple font management tools and ever since I have noticed that I don't have the full list of default system fonts. Below is a screenshot of what I have. I notice that there are a lot of missing fonts that should be there such as Georgia, Trebuchet, Verdana and many more. Is there a way to reinstall them or restore them? I tried the restore Standard Fonts option in Font Book but says no problems encountered. I also downloaded a program called Pacifist but don't know what to do next.

OS X Mountain Lion :: Can't Find System Fonts On HD

Jun 26, 2014

In My Suitcase 5, I can see a list of OSX System Fonts > Local, (such as Calibri, Calisto MT, etc.). I realized I cannot locate these fonts anywhere on the HD. I see them in Suitcase and they load, but the physical files are nowhere to be found. I did a search in Finder for Calibri — nothing, like it doesn't exist. I went to all 3 common system fonts folders — nothing. I went to Users / Library/ Fonts — nothing.

Where are these fonts, really?

Final Cut Pro X :: Document Could Not Be Opened - Read Only File System

Dec 9, 2014

I recently moved all my fcpx projects/events to a new Harddrive - I thought I did this correctly by copying/duplicating all projects/events from within FCPX.

When I last used FCPX all the projects/events were there - no issues.  Also, when I look at package contents - everything is still there in terms of events and file sizes.

All the library files are on an external hard drive, on an encrypted disk image.  Now a week later I have tried to open FCPX and I get the following error

"The document “MND_Z_FCPX” could not be opened. Read-only file system" and nothing will open.

Have checked permissions - these all seem in order.  OSX is10.9.5

Also missing was some of the icons for random programs (applications, illustrator, pictures etc.) I am thinking I might have deleted some of the systems files? In safe mode the dock and widgets work and the fonts are correct however the icons are still missing.

ITunes :: It Crashes System After Launch?

Feb 10, 2012

For the last several days my iMac will freeze a few minutes after launching, then proceed to freeze my entire iMac, forcing a hard reboot. I ran Activity Monitor when launching iTunes and noticed that before the trouble started simply mousing around or scrolling could take up 25% of my processor. Then it would jump up to 80-105% then it would fall to 0% and the system would freeze. If I then immediately used 'Force Quit Applications' I could force-quit iTunes... but only after the system itself had frozen for 10-30 seconds before finally giving me the pop-up asking to make sure I wanted to force-quit. (iTunes Helper never seemed to take any processor power.) iTunes 10 is definitely the culprit.

My setup: 2007 Core2Duo iMac 4Gb RAM, iTunes with 29,000 songs running 10.6.8 with latest updates. I have 185Gb left on my 750Gb drive. I've run Onyx to clear out all caches, and I've even trashed iTunes and downloaded a fresh copy from Apple and reinstalled.

OS X :: Spotlight (System UI Server) Crashes When Search Something

Jul 24, 2010

Spotlight Crashes when Search Something (SystemUIServer Crashes Actually). Yesterday, I installed 10.6.4 from Updater. After everything is OK, I realized that problem. When I tried to seach something from Spotlight, I got the list without icons and after 2-3 seconds, menu closed and SystemUIServer restarts. Those are the reports from Console.
First I tried with Guest Account - Same Problem
I created new acount-First Search, No Problem, Others have Same Problem (Thats User Account)
I created 3rd and 4th account-Same Problem (Those are Admin Account)

There aren't any file named "com.apple.spotlight.plist" in my account. I deleted "com.apple.systemuiserver.plist" and restarted computer. Same Problem. What I realized after, There aren't any file named "com.apple.spotlight.plist" in all accounts, even they are admin or normal account. (Guest,2nd,3rd,4th and My Account). There are systemuiserver files in all accounts. Its looks like I have problem with system wide. I verified and repaired Disk. with System DVD. I verified and fix Permissions. with System DVD and Onyx Application. I installed 10.6.4 again and restarted again. No file named com.apple.spotlight.plist.

Software :: Two System Crashes - Need To Restart Computer

Sep 30, 2009

I just rebooted my iMac for the second time after getting a system crash (the grey box on the screen that says, "You need to restart your computer..."). After I held the power button, and turned it back on, this message popped up AGAIN, but this time while it was still on the white screen.

Two system crashes... in a row?
-once while using the computer
-again while restarting it

Why did this happen twice? Overall I've noticed my iMac has been sluggish since installing Snow Leopard. I realized it happens whenever I plug in my Line6 TonePort (which is a USB device which switches the audio to go to my speakers via 1/4" outputs). I don't understand why this is suddenly causing the problem, it's been working fine for the last 2 years.
