OS X :: When Scroll Down (using The Mouse) Just A Little Bit At A Time, The Screen Will Jump UP?
Occasionally, when I scroll down (using the mouse) just a little bit at a time, the screen will jump UP, before scrolling down. This happens quite frequently, but not consistently. It's incredibly annoying.
I thought it was the mouse, so I replaced it with a new one (used to have a Microsoft "Comfort Mouse," now I've got the Mighty Mouse), and it's still happening. My guess is it's some kind of software issue.

Mac Bluetooth :: Mighty Mouse Acting Jerky And Jumpy / Cursor Seems To Jump Around Screen
I seem to have developed a problem with my cordless Mighty Mouse in the past few days. It's become really erratic - seems to jump around the screen. When I'm moving the mouse to a certain position on the screen, it will just "jump" way over to one side for no apparent reason.
I cleaned the mouse, changed the batteries, checked all the settings. I made a few changes in the Keyboard and Mouse control panel and saved the changes (just to update the preference file) and then reverted back to the old settings. I've tried a different surface (you'd think that would be the main problem - the surface it's on - but that's not the case). Restarted numerous times. Ran YASU. Nothing changes - it just seems to be really "jerky" and "jumpy" all of a sudden.
Has anyone else had this happen and do you have any suggestions on how I can fix this problem? Is this maybe a defective mouse? I've had the mouse for 3 months now.Maybe this is a system software problem? I haven't changed anything on my system in a few weeks - no updates or anything at all.

Hardware :: Mousepad Recommendations - Jump Around A Little Bit?
I just bought an iMac with a wireless Mighty Mouse. I'm using it on an old table right now (until I move into a new place). It's an older table and there is some loss of luster when I'm using the mouse at causing it to jump around a little bit. I'm looking for a mousepad that'll look good and perform well. I'm thinking, if it's out there, an aluminum mousepad would be pretty cool to match the iMac.

IMac Intel :: Ripple Effect When Using Mouse To Click On Scroll Bar And Scroll?
I have tried 4 new 24" iMac's and ALL FOUR do this! When you click on the scroll bar and scroll down or up, there is a definite "ripple" in the window of what you are looking at. It's as if you put a steel rod under a sheet and pulled it up and down.
It only happens when using the mouse to click and scroll. Not with the track ball, not with the arrows, not with the keyboard. I updated Safari, tried using Firefox instead, installed all the OS updates, but it still happens.
So far no one in Support has a clue. The display models at the stores didn't do it, but my guess is they are from an older shipment...so maybe this is an anomaly with imac's shipped after April 10.

OS X Leopard :: Mouse Perpetually Trying To Scroll Down
I have a MacPro running Leopard 10.5.8. Yesterday the mouse began behaving erratically. It seems to be perpetually trying to scroll down. It also won't allow me to select anything. The keyboard appears to be unaffected. I have tried 2 other manufacturers mouses and the same problem persists. I can only conclude it is some sort of software issue. The problem does not exist when I'm in Bootcamp running Windows XP.

IMac Intel :: Mouse Will Not Scroll Down Ever
I've been having troubles lately with my mouse. You see whenever I'm in Safari it'll track, but won't respond to clicking, so I'll try to click on something but it won't respond. After I quit out of Safari it'll only track, and do nothing else. The only way it'll work again is if I restart the computer. When this happened I replaced the mouse, and it still didn't work. Any suggestions or experiences? Also, do you guys have any diagnoses another mouse problem of mine? Strangely it won't scroll down at all.
Details: -Downloaded new Safari about 4 or 5 weeks back.
-Mouse won't scroll down ever (since first day I've had the mouse)
-I haven't updated my mouse or keyboard software

OS X :: Why Mouse Scroll Ball So Intermittent
I love the mouse (is it the mighty mouse?) which comes with the imac. The little scroll ball is brilliant especially for say scrolling down in itunes. But I always find that sometimes it won't work in a variety of different ways. i.e.
1) Sometimes it will let me scroll down but not up
2) sometimes up but not down
3) sometimes not up or down
4) occasionally it works both up and down.
As I type this I can go down but not down. I've had this problem on both our older IMac and now our new one. It can't be dust and muck and the ball does rotate. Why can't the ball just work all the time.

OS X :: I Cannot Get Swipe, Scroll Etc On My New Magic Mouse?
I've just bought a new Magic mouse for my Macbook Pro and although I've paired it using the Mouse preference pane I cannot get the scroll, swipe etc functions to work just the basic pointer and and click functions. I've run system updater and everything is up-to date - what am I doing wrong? I cannot get the options to configure it to even appear.

Snow Leopard :: Magic Mouse Does Not Scroll
I just got off the phone with an apple tech after I set up my magic mouse with the new software and found it didn't scroll, at all. It points and clicks though. The tech told me that it won't scroll until a new firmware comes out for my imac (2008, fall). Did he not know what he's talking about or have others had the same experience with the mouse? It seems weird to me that apple would release a mouse that didn't scroll with a computer less than a year old. I'm using 10.6.1 and downloaded the magic mouse software.

IMac Intel :: Mouse Will Only Scroll Up And Sideways
My Mac Mighty Mouse (hardwired, not airborne, and not the new MagicMouse or whatever the digitally stimulated mouse is called) will not Scroll down. It will scroll up and sideways. But it won't go down, like that evening sun, or whatever Elton John was singing about. My iMac is 2 years old, and I'm now on my third mouse. The Original and Warranty Replacement 1 both had problems recording clicks and tracking; I'm on WR2 now. With the last mouse and now with this one, after a while, the cursor on screen does not track downward when I spin the trackball. I've done all the tricks: used the black lint-free cloth, rolled it on a white piece of paper to dislodge anything, and cleaned it with alcohol.
Often, when I turn the mouse over and roll it on the wheel, the cursor responds properly and without hesitation. but when I turn the mouse over and use my finger, nothing happens. Don't get carried away with parallel interpretations: this isn't an entendre about other things! When I try to fix it, I make sure my hands are clean, I have just run the mouse through a bath of alcohol, and I often tap the mouse on its side to dislodge any small specks of dirt on the inside. The best that happens is that the cursor tracks properly for the first test or two, then stops tracking. As I said, it's still tracks properly in the other three directions, just not downward. Is there some special kind of chiropractic therapy for this damned thing? Or do I need to turn it in for Warranty Replacement 3?

Mac Pro :: Mouse Only Allow Scroll Down After SL Upgrade
I've had my Mac Pro since Feb of 2009. For Christmas I got the Snow Leopard upgrade and installed in a few days ago. Since then the scroll button on top of the mouse will only allow scrolling down. Previously it allow up and down scrolling. Is this possibly some setting that I have missed or could it be that the mouse needs some kind of maintenance. I've been an Apple user since the days of the Apple II and all the mice I've ever used eventually built up a lot of internal crud. This mouse, being optical, does not seem to have any way for the user to open it for cleaning purposes.

Desktops :: Mouse Is Getting Dirty And Failing To Scroll
I bought my iMac about 2 1/2 years ago. The mouse I got with it (mighty mouse? $50) has constant problems re getting dirty & failing to scroll properly. As I have discovered on Apple's own site, this problem is not rare. For a while I could turn it upside down & just play with the scroll button till whatever was stymieing it resolved itself. But now it won't scroll down at all (other directions OK). Based on the Apple reviews I am reluctant to replace it with the same model. Is the Magic Mouse ($70) a better value? What are the advantages? Or would I better better off getting a cheaper non-Apple mouse? I'm not into having to do a lot of regular maintenance or popping the mouse open to clean it. I also think a $50 or $70 mouse should not be "disposable".

Hardware :: Mighty Mouse Only Can Scroll Left
I bought a new wireless mighty mouse. After using it last night and playing around with the features, I noticed the scroll ball wouldn't scroll to the left for the most part. Occasionally, if i pushed on the ball, it sometimes would move a bit, but not at the level of ease it scrolled right or up/down. Today, I returned it and got a replacement. I am experiencing the same problem, only with scrolling left. I have read about scrolling issues after use, but not right out of the box.

OS X :: Microsoft Mouse - Click Scroll Not Working
I'm using a microsoft intellimouse (USB to keyboard) on an iMac (late 2006), OSX 10.5.8
I recently connected my mighty mouse to the keyboard and changed some settings on the middle mouse button. Later I reconnected my microsoft mouse, and tried to change the settings back. Now, everything works as per usual, but my middle mouse click-drag scroll doesn't work
I can scroll by using the wheel up and down just fine, but if I try to click-drag, nothing happens. Is there any way I can fix this?
