Is there a way to clean up the mighty mouse? My scroll wheel no longer works right.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI love the mouse (is it the mighty mouse?) which comes with the imac. The little scroll ball is brilliant especially for say scrolling down in itunes. But I always find that sometimes it won't work in a variety of different ways. i.e.
1) Sometimes it will let me scroll down but not up
2) sometimes up but not down
3) sometimes not up or down
4) occasionally it works both up and down.
As I type this I can go down but not down. I've had this problem on both our older IMac and now our new one. It can't be dust and muck and the ball does rotate. Why can't the ball just work all the time.
Does anyone know an easy way to pull apart the mighty mouse to repair the scroll ball? It won't scroll down (won't make the scratchy sound as if the sensor inside is clogged up or something).

View 12 Replies View RelatedI don't get this. We just purchased on wireless mighty mouse and one wired one came with our imac. We have had them for about 5 months (not long by my standards) and all of a sudden, within days of each other, the little ball scroller broke! One mouse is for my husband's computer and one is for mine, so they are being used differently, not for the same purpose or reason.. However, I'm sure we both use them a lot but doesn't every one? I will never purchase another one again. I dont care how much better they look than a basic mouse. I have never broke a mouse. I have one that came with my very first computer around 16 years ago and it still works!

my Mighty Mouse has broken after having it for about 4 weeks. Just now it just stopped scrolling down and can only scroll up. how to open these things to clean them or how to mend the scroll ball.
View 10 Replies View Relatedguy's i need your opinion, for the longest time I was using a wireless might mouse and was using the rubbing alcohol to clean it. I add a small drop from the cotton ball, let it get in there and then use a lint free cloth to wipe and sure enough it worked. Well trick stopped working months ago and neither direction was going threw, so I went back to using my plug in. Long story short, last night I opened the wiresless one. Took the ball out, clean the track wheels, and got up, right and left to work but down is no go. The wheel is spinning, but it's not sending the signal. I'm guessing the wheel isn't making contact to the pin, or is it possible I shorted the pin out with the alcohol?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but my scroll ball on my Apple Mouse (wired) will no longer scroll upwards since applying the OS 10.7.4 Supplemental Update on the 1st June 2012.
I have a Mac Mini with a 27" Thunderbolt Display running 10.7.4. There are no software updates available and I have tried all the settings available in the system preferences.
The scroll ball on my mighty mouse scrolls forward sideways but not back anymore, just happened right now too. Has this happened to anyone before and how do I fix this

View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm using a wireless Mighty Mouse with a Mac Mini (the newest model) and am running 10.6.3.
The scroll wheel can scroll up just fine, but scrolling down, it literally only scrolls down a fraction of a pixel (if that's even possible) per finger flickr/scroll.
I opened the Mouse panel from System Preferences and adjusted the Scroll setting, but no luck.
Suddenly I can't scroll down using my aqua scroll bar. I can scroll up just fine. This is true whether I'm in Firefox, Safari, or any sort of document-making applications. System preferences is set to 'scroll horizontally and vertically.' It's not the end of the world, but it's klunky and annoying. Could someone please remind me of something very obvious that I'm obviously doing wrong?

Sometimes my Mighty Mouse allows me to scroll up or down, and at other times it only allows me to scroll up. This seems to be a hit and miss situation, and I have not been able to identify any activity that causes it to malfunction. Perhaps some others out there know what's going on, and how to set it straight.

This the second Mighty Mouse I've owned and the last one had this problem too.
Is this a common fault? The settings in System Preferences are fine.
I just received a used magic mouse that I bought, and it paired alright in terms of whether the machine (macbook late '07, running 10.5.8) recognizes it and I click just fine (both primary-button and secondary-button), but I can't seem to get it to scroll, in any direction. Am I missing something or was this just somebody offloading their faulty mouse on me?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just bought a new Magic mouse for my Macbook Pro and although I've paired it using the Mouse preference pane I cannot get the scroll, swipe etc functions to work just the basic pointer and and click functions. I've run system updater and everything is up-to date - what am I doing wrong? I cannot get the options to configure it to even appear.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is the second Mighty Mouse that I have had this happen on, I've tried the usual use a piece of paper and run it around the edge, tip it upside down and scroll the ball about and I've even tried using a can of compressed air but both of my Mighty Mouses still wont scroll down. Obviously I don't want to have to shell out again for another of these far inferior mouses so I was wanting to know if anyone know how I could fix it or get Apple to send me a new one?

I have got a new magic mouse but it does not scroll, the scrolling feature does not show in mouse preferences, it only shows tracking speed and double-click speed. In Bluetooth preferences it says the mouse is connected and paired, but in Keyboard & Mouse Bluetooth preferences the keyboard name is there and it shows the battery level, but shows no name or battery level for the mouse.

Now i have OS LION, my mouse scrolls opposite to my old OS SL when i scroll up, screen pages go down... I can see why they did this, but I dont like it. How do i edit the mouse to scroll the old way, so down swipe means screen pages down, not some mirror image
