Mac Pro :: Set A Wired Mouse To Scroll Down?
Feb 8, 2012My mouse is set to scroll horizontaly and vertically but it will only scroll up on a page, not down. Is there any way I could fix this so my mouse can scroll down as well?

Dec 15, 2009Looking for an alternate wired mouse to the Mighty Mouse thats works flawlessly on a Mac Pro under Snow Leopard.Also an answer from somebody on this who does not get any kernel panics would be good. I ask this because I haveread of somebody who was using a MS mouse which should have worked on a Mac Pro but turned out that the softwareprovided with said MS mouse was calling bad Kernel Extensions and was therefore causing Panics.

Jul 28, 2010I'll try to keep my post short somewhat: I've acquired what appeared to be my most useless piece of equipment: the bluetooth mighty mouse. I am not against wireless stuff per se, I love the keyboard. But the mouse has these annoying problems:
1. Batteries wear out way too fast.
2. Trackball clogs way too easily.
Now I can do without scrolling down, and might clean the thing one day from the insides, but what annoys me is the battery life. And having to buy batteries every other week. A simple workaround would be to buy a cheap wired mouse. But for the sake of thinking about a project, has anyone with some background in electronics tried, or tried to think of the possibility, of modding a mighty mouse and enable it to get some juice through USB?.......................
OS X :: How To Change Mouse Scroll Wheel Lines On USB Mouse?
Dec 16, 2009I recently plugged my Belkin USB mouse into my Black MacBook. All works OK, except that I cannot change the number of lines jumped when I use the scroll wheel.
The "Scrolling Speed" setting in System Preferences > Mouse doesn't do anything.
Any ideas? Is there a config file I can change via Terminal?

Apr 18, 2010I've purchased a Mac mini with the Apple mouse (Mighty mouse) and Apple keyboard and I can tell a difference between how tracking speeds on Mac's compared to PC's, in that with a Mac the tracking speed is less linear and slower if the mouse is moved slower and accelerated if the mouse is moved faster. I'm starting to adjust to this change but can you guys tell me what mouse speeds you have set for your mighty mouse and what screen size you have. Just want to see what speeds other people are using on their Mac's.

- Resetting the pmc.
- Rebooting / shutting down, swapping USB ports.
- Verify HD permissions
- Disabling bluetooth (even tho this is wired usb mouse I've seen people mention this so just before you do!)
- Plugged the mouse into a Windows 7 Machine (sorry its not mine! :-) and YES it works fine!
Also there are no drivers for this 'Imation' wired usb mouse as its plug and play and on the box its states fully supports mac os 10.x brand new.

Feb 7, 2010A friend gave me a wired version of the Apple Mighty Mouse. I use my right hand whenever i'm using a mouse but the cable is way to short to wrap around to the right side of my 13inch MBP.

Jan 2, 2011I recently purchased a refurbished 24 inch imac from the noticed when the computer is idle (black screen), my wired mouse does not work. When I pull the cable out of the usb port on the imac, the computer screen comes on and then I reinsert the cable back into the usb port in the computer to use the wired mouse (wired mouse works fine after I reinsert the cable back into the usb port).Could this problem be associated with the wired mouse or with the usb ports on the imac?

Jul 13, 2009I love the mouse (is it the mighty mouse?) which comes with the imac. The little scroll ball is brilliant especially for say scrolling down in itunes. But I always find that sometimes it won't work in a variety of different ways. i.e.
1) Sometimes it will let me scroll down but not up
2) sometimes up but not down
3) sometimes not up or down
4) occasionally it works both up and down.
As I type this I can go down but not down. I've had this problem on both our older IMac and now our new one. It can't be dust and muck and the ball does rotate. Why can't the ball just work all the time.

May 9, 2010This is the second Mighty Mouse that I have had this happen on, I've tried the usual use a piece of paper and run it around the edge, tip it upside down and scroll the ball about and I've even tried using a can of compressed air but both of my Mighty Mouses still wont scroll down. Obviously I don't want to have to shell out again for another of these far inferior mouses so I was wanting to know if anyone know how I could fix it or get Apple to send me a new one?

Mar 19, 2012I have got a new magic mouse but it does not scroll, the scrolling feature does not show in mouse preferences, it only shows tracking speed and double-click speed. In Bluetooth preferences it says the mouse is connected and paired, but in Keyboard & Mouse Bluetooth preferences the keyboard name is there and it shows the battery level, but shows no name or battery level for the mouse.

May 17, 2012The mouse was working then suddenly won't scroll. Tried deleting the pref and no luck. Tried restoring back to Snow Leopard from SuperDuper and the mouse worked fine. Reinstalled Lion and it won't scroll. Don't have USB Overdrive on the machine. Suspect a software conflict but have no idea where it could be. Haven't put anything new on it recently that I can remember. Hopefully someone has an idea 'cause for the first time in 15 or more years with a Macint9osh I am stumped!
