Recently, Safari has been acting extremely slow and loading webpages weird.For example, when I went to MacRumors, I get this half-ass loaded version (see picture).
I have to reload it several times to get it to function correctly. I tried resetting Safari and emptying the cache but those did nothing.
I recently changed from an AT&T DSL modem to a Knology Cable Modem to improve speed and overall network capablity. However, ever since I have changed I have had problems with Safary lagging or not loading the websites. It doesn't do it all the time, but periodically.Sometimes it is worse than others.
Basic issue: When using Safari, it stalls when loading a website. Sometimes it will load, other times it will say that Safari cannot load the website.If you wait a while and retry loading it, it may then load it.

Ever since I updated to the latest version of Safari, it has been very slow loading webpages and is also a great memory hog. I have been using Firefox (now) and don't have these problems, but I would prefer to use Safari if it will work.

About a week ago my Mac started loading webpages very slowly (CNN would take over 5 minutes to load). I have downloaded and occasionally use Firefox and it had the same problem.
I checked my internet connection and everything seems fine, my other computer (its a PC) is connecting just fine and loading webpages at the usual speeds.
I found online some instructions regarding Safari loading webpages slow they involved deleting the cache, and then deleting a few .plist files in the library. This seems to work, but with a day or so the problem comes back. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?
Whenever I browse a folder with movie files, I get this window popping up, and it doesn't go away for a little while. I'm thinking of just removing Flip4Mac and finding an alternative.

If I try to enter an address in the bar and hit enter, it just beachballs, and than nothing happens, before it used to just keep trying to load it. Â Â
I than downloaded the combo updater, opened the dmg, and installed over it, restarted and same issueÂ
Prior to the combo update I repaired any file permissions as well. How do I get safari to work properly again? I even uninstalled the clicktoflash extension. Â

Lately I've noticed that when safari loads (Safari 1.3.2 (V312.6)) certain web pages, they either load only partially or not at all. Some pages flash constantly. I'm also seeing a pop up window that states that "safari can't open the page .... because it cannot establish a secure connection to server...."
With IE, certain websites bring up the message "the application internet explorer has unexpectedly quit. The system and other applications have not been affected."
So far, I have attempted changing the firewall settings, security settings to no avail.
I run an internet connection with connexus that otherwise appears to function properly.
Prior to the above, there seemed to be no major issues with my iMAC.
It happens so often nowadays.. When I login to my Facebook, it wouldn't load any images, where it will all be blank..Also, few web pages are not loading in Safari, whereas it loads well in other browsers.. I am using Macbook Pro.. Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4.. Safari Veersion 5.1.7.. Has anyone faced this issue ??

it seems for me that Safari 4 is very slow at loading content. Most of the time, i am on broadband, but when i go over my limit, i get shaped to a much slower speed. (Typical Australia ISP!)
I noticed that while Safari loads a page, on the bottom toolbar, it says....
Loading "Website" completed # of #.
for example, on "ninemsn.com.au" it can take me quite a while for the page to load, as Safari does not load the content until ALL or most of the content has been downloaded.
is there a way/plugin for safari 4 to load content AS SOON as its been downloaded? I would like to see my pages load immediately as soon as the content has been loaded.
I just bought my MBP this past summer and dont know much about it. Every time i try to stream videos rather it be on a "tube-site" or not they "buffer" or are interrupted because of slow loading. I have already emptied the cache and reset safari a number of time and it dosnt help. This issue seems to be getting worse with time, as when i first got it it was fine of course.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince installing Yosemite Mail has slowed to a crawl with a spinning beach ball for 30 seconds or more each time I select a message or a mailbox. I had a very large (about 5GB) mail file that I have used as a filing cabinet for years. The only way i could speed it up was to very tediously delete thousands of stored emails and mailboxes (after copying the old mail file to an external disk). I had this problem on 2 MacBook Pros (1 Retina) and a MacBook Air. I also have a MacPro (2013) and did not have the problem on that machine although I do not keep large mail files on it.Â
In addition Safari takes 10-15 seconds (sometimes longer) to display every web page. Perhaps it is because the preferences no longer let me select display as received and it is always waiting for the full page do download. If that is the problem Apple should put it back the other way - many web pages have the bulk of the information available immediately with some stuff taking a while to finish but the info I need is in the first batch.Â
I have also had problems with Safari quitting with the error report window for no apparent reasons several time a day. In general I find Yosemite (10.1.1 now) is starting to be as quirky and un-user friendly as Windows - it is a giant step backwards!
Web pages open super slow (not just in Safari) on my imac OSX 10.6.8. I use a router and all other Apple devices work fine. Apple store says it's not my hardware. Comcast thinks it's not the DNS.

I just tried cleaning my keyboard/macbook with some baby wipe type cleaners. Great job of cleaning off the macbook but now when I went to boot the machine...the keyboard was all screwy... for some reason it thinks that when I'm just simply pushing down one key, it assumes the command button is being held down... sometimes it thinks that multiple keys are being held and I'm trying to string together an apple command.
my question is this....
1) are there any methods that I can try to fix the keyboard with?
2) I don't have applecare any longer on my macbook, does this mean that Apple will not be able to help me with repair options? does apple by chance take old computers that are broken and give you some sort of credit towards a new one?
3) can I sell this macbook on eBay and possibly get a decent ammount of money for it even with the keyboard issues?
4) AM I JUST SCREWED!?
I was wondering for any of you in the US if the iTunes store has been acting very slow (for about the past day)? It takes forever to load pages and it takes 3 hours to download an HD show when it should be taking 10 minutes tops. I know my internet connection is fine because everything else is working at its normal pace, but for some reason, navigating the iTunes store and downloading has been quite sluggish.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI plugged it into my Mac, made it OS X Extended, and it worked great. It has 500GB on it. All of a sudden it became Read Only, which prevents Time Machine to perform any back-ups. The Mac forum suggested I format it, but that's only for NEW drives first connecting. I've had this for almost a year working fine. It's no longer showing up as an icon on my desktop or in Finder. Disk Utility shows it, but all the options to repair disk are greyed out.

Well, I've noticed that this hasn't been happening lately and some of my other sounds have disappeared too, such as in ichat, the sent message and received message sounds aren't occurring even though the settings are set for them to happen. Anyone else experienced this before? I just want to know how I can get my volume keys to work again so that I can hear them as I raise and lower the volume even if there's no sound coming
View 4 Replies View RelatedI don't really know what is wrong, it's a fresh installation and it's just extremely laggy, liquify is slow as heck, drawing and doing anything is just choppy or buggy. Heck, my MB is more than decent for PS, so I don't know what is going on!
CS4 ran fine with no lag, and CS3 on my old p4 with 512mb ram runs smooth as silk with no lag, even when I use liquify, and even then it's only allowed to use 170mb of it.
I know this is a well known problem and I am not the only one, but I just wanted to know what exactly is the problem if anybody has managed to fix it, and a lot of the menu's and window structures are a bit off/messed up as well, it seems to me that a lot of unneeded yet subtle changes were made, and it's annoying as well.
Parallels 5 on 10.6.2 has been extremely slow to launch for me. The icon will bounce in the dock for about minute, then hang for another a minute or two, then finally launch. Tried reinstalling, repairing permissions, etc. However, it seems that disabling the spotlight fixes the issue, so it's apparently related to that...but I don't want to have to disable spotlight.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use Excel 2008 (I wish I still had my old 2004 CD with me) to do some plotting and it's near impossible. I'm plotting spectrum data off of an optical spectrum analyzer, so we're talking some 3000 data points. I select the data, create a chart (annoying as hell in itself) and once the chart shows up I can't do anything without at least a 10-20second wait, I can't select an axis, move the chart, rename it or anything. Why is this so slow and is there anything I can do to speed things up? Doing such plotting using an old school Excel on an old computer running Windows 2000 was no problem at all.

Also it seems that Safari occasionally hogs more memory and resources after extended use.
After upgrading to 5.1.4, safari is very slowin loading pages or it doesn't load at all.On the other hand, Chrome is fast as usual.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with Safari for the past few months it frequently freezes when loading web pages, sometimes it will eventually load, other times it wont. the blue progress bar in the address bar stops on about 10% with a plain white page it doesn't happen all the time but disturbingly it happens on pages as simple as Google search, not just data heavy sites. other symptoms include having to click links several times to get them to respond and I get the you are not connected to the Internet page when I go to some sites only to try another page from my bookmarks and it will load perfectly.

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard (SL). I have noticed a painfully slow access to sites when using Firefox and Safari. Pages used to load almost instantaneous with Leopard. Now when using either Firefox or Safari on SL, It's taking an average of 8-10 seconds to load a page in my web browser. Feels like I'm on dialup. I have the fastest internet service you can get (Roadrunner Turbo Plus), but for some unknown reason my internet page access is painfully slow. I'm really thinking of using Time Machine to set my Mac back to Leopard, but I really don't want too. I figured I'd wait a few days to see if this problem surfaces, and perhaps a solution can be found.

When i open some websites through safari (3.2.1) like youtube. i get sent directly to spam [URL], and then a link to ebay. I have tried resetting safari including its caches, and still the same thing appears.
Is there a way to get rid of these adds that are blocking my websites?, or what is the cause?
Every once in awhile I'll go to a webpage (usually not the same one every time), and some of the text will be Scratchy looking (for lack of a better term). Kind of like those website verification systems where you have to type in the letters and numbers they give you, but there are lines scratched all over them so that bots can't read the picture and fill in the letters and text automatically. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about: The only thing that I can think of that might be causing this is that I have like 1,500++ fonts loaded on my computer and it might just be getting confused with all those fonts running simultaneously.
