OS X V10.7 Lion :: Repair Boot Partition But Don't Have 'Recovery HD'

I was doing a routine maintenence and Disk Utility is telling me I have a few block counts askew. Everything seems to be working fine ( on the surface of things ) but like to be anal and would like to do a repair. However, I don't have a Recovery partition and the App store has decided that I haven't purchased Lion although I did, I can show you the bank statement. I installed a new hard disk not so long back ( I guess this is the reason why the App store decided I didn't purchase Lion!? ) and reinstalled from a Time Machine backup it wasn't seemless but I'm techy enough, to make it work, just not a big fan of spending my days learning terminal commands.I have a mid 2009 MPB so can't do internet recovery, the Recovery Disk Assistant won't let me create a Recovery Disk on an exernal drive since, yes you've guessed it, I don't have a Recovery Partition.
Am quite happy to reinstall as long as it doesn't compromise my data but can't find the 'restore my purchases' button on the app store else if there is a less than obtuse ( and none-sketchy ) method of creating the partition HD.

I give up. I can't find the answer to this. So, I'll just ask and hope.I have a mid-2011 mini that was upgraded to Lion. However, it had a Bootcamp partition running Windows 7. Apparently, whoever upgraded my machine didn't create a recovery boot disk before upgrading. So, I have no recovery partition and apparently no ability to create a recovery boot usb without one.

I'm on a 2008 model Mac Pro 8-core system for work. For whatever reason it doesn't have a recovery partition. I read that if I don't have a recovery partition, I can't make a recovery USB bootable drive....so how do I make one? And no, I cannot reinstall the OS on here, that would be beyond detrimental to what's going on here. (too many details to get into)Â
Alternatively, can I make one with my 10.8.5 MacbookPro at home and run it here on my Lion system?Â

Everything is working ok but i would like to know what happened to the recovery disk Also i was wondering if i could reinstall my apps from a time machine backup if i had to reinstall lion from internet reinstall

I have a Mac Pro 1,1 with 6 GB RAM and a 1 TB HD. After installing Lion, every reboot fails to work properly. Instead of simply booting the machine, it goes into the Recovery Partition and runs Disk Tools. Once in Disk Tools, I Quit, select my HD as the boot drive, and reboot again. THEN it runs the normal System off the HD. It seems a flag of some sort was left turned on that makes the machine thinks it's mid-install.Â

Time machine reported an error and couldn't back up, so I ran disk utility on the time machine drive and got this message. Â
"error: couldn't repair the partition map because a new EFI system partition couldnt be created."Â
Then I hit verify disk and got the message Â
"Error:Â partition map check failed because no slices were found."Â

I am trying to download the Lion .dmg image using the Lion Recovery partition. My connection is flaky, and keeping a connection for the number of hours the downloader indicates is pratically impossible. Everytime If restart the download, the installer throws away what I downloaded previously. How can the downloder be made to resume a previous download? (This is a pre-installed copy of Lion, so the App Store is not an option)

I installed a new hard drive to expand my disk size for a late 2009 MacBook Pro 15". I used time machine to "clone" the machine to the new drive. However, I noticed while trying to set up Boot Camp that I no longer have a Recovery Disk partition with Lion. How can I set this feature back up on my new hard drive?

My iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) came with Lion installed. I deleted the recovery partition when I triple booted with Windows 7, Ubuntu and Mac OS.Â
Is there any way to re-create a deleted recovery partition in Lion? I've read that you can download Lion from the App Store & write it to a USB using the Disk Utility.Â

My new MacBook Pro didn't come with any CDs. Apparently I need the recovery partition to reinstall Lion from the internet. "Recovery HD offers on-disk recovery tools, allows you to restore from Time Machine backups, reinstall OS X Lion over the Internet..." What process should I follow to restore my recovery partition and apply the current state of the machine from a backup? (The process should not involve anything I don't have, like USB memory sticks, Lion CDs, etc....) Supplementary questions which are only relevant if the answer is "you can't" (which would seem to be a major bug!) Or is there a clever method to install a recovery partition onto an existing disk (which clearly has space for it)?
I have searched for it but all the results I found have either not mentioned that it works without reinstalling but look like it's needed, or do say "reinstall". If I install Lion to an external disk, can I boot from that and use the recovery disk assistant tool to restore the partition to my internal disk? (Which I assume I'll need to do to get FileVault to work)?

I have a Time Machine a a multiple partition. The TM disk didn't properly disconnect and now have disk error. I'm repairing disk through Disk utility. It's taking forever to fix. The drive is 400GB.I can stop repair but it's been repairing for an hour.

My MacBook is unable to boot. Whenever I try to boot, the spinning circle and the progress bar appears on the grey screen, but when the progress bar reaches about 40%, the computer shuts itself down. I started in Verbose Mode and tried AppleJack, and it said my harddisk needs to be repaired; but AppleJack is unable to do that. (Error Messages: "Invalid node structure" and "Incorrect number of thread records) I then tried to startup with both Recovery HD and Mac OS X Install DVD and ran the Disk Utility on both of the startups. At the First Aid tab, I selected my Hard Drive (not the Hitachi one, the Macintosh HD one) and clicked on Repair Disk. The error messages I got from Repair Disk were:Invalid volume file countInvalid node structureThe volume Macintosh HD could not be verified completely.
Error: Disk Utility can't repair this disk..disk, and restore your backed-up files. And, lastly, the following popup message appeared:Disk Utility stopped repairing "Macintosh HD"Disk Utility can't repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files. Not being sure how to back-up my files using Disk Utility, I plugged in an external HDD to my USB port and clicked on the Restore tab in the Disk Utility. As the Source, I selected Macintosh HD and as the Destination, I selected one of the partitions I created on my external HDD. I have a 2TB Western Digital My Book Studio FW800 external that has 5 partitions, connected to my 2011 iMac. I had help doing the partitions and don't really remember the reasoning, but one is just for my SuperDuper! backup, one is Miscellaneous, one for movie clips off my camcorder, one for misc scanned photo's and one for my genealogy research. I back up using Time Machine to a Time Capsule and also to this WD hard drive with SuperDuper!Â
Recently I'm getting a pop up message that "Mac OS X can't repair the disk "Genealogy"'. And it needs to be reformatted. It's become a read only disk. When I look in Disk Utility it shows all the partitions as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" EXCEPT for the one in question. I also noticed that there are a lot of files with "date created" being the same date in 1969! These files may be letters I've written or photo's I added to that partition within the last few years.Â
I think I have to completely reformat the entire external hard drive to repair this, but I want to make sure. Because it's going to be a major hassle backing it all up to another external (having to get one first) and then figuring out how to make the files that have turned "read only" in that one partition, back to their original state!  Does this sound right, that I have to reformat the entire external hard drive? And how do I get the read-only files back to their original state.

I have run the Disk Utility verify function against my system partition. It tells me there are minor issues that need fixing up and I should run the repair disk function, by booting using Command-R and using the Disk Utility to repair the drive.Problem is, when I boot using Command-R and select Disk Utility the partition is shown greyed out and the Verify and Repair options do not work.I think this could be because the partition is encrypted. The utility does not offer me the chance to unlock the partition with my passphrase.How can I repair the filesystem errors on this partition?

I recently discovered this old OLD software that was supposedly leaps beyond it's competitors called spinrite. [URL]
It's probably old news for anyone who did any research on finding this type of software but this is my first time researching the matter and coming across this.
The problem is that this software is PC only it seems. I was wondering if there is an equivalent software that could do just the same for my Mac.
Or can this software already run on Mac considering that Mac is now intel based and can run Windows in bootcamp?
The website says that I could remove my HD and place it into a PC system, but I don't have a PC system so that's not an option for me.

Recently my OS X Lion Partition disappeared. I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro. It's partitioned with Lion (10.7.4) and Windows 7. A few days ago when I started up, it booted up to the Recovery partition. I didn't know what was going on at the time. So I booted again w/ option key and it only gave the Windows and Recovery partitions as the options. After searching for a solution, I found a blog that said I can set up Lion on a external drive and I did that. I booted from the external drive and saw my "missing" partition in the Finders window. I clicked on it and it had folders and they were not accessible, in other words it was damaged. I tried to repair using disc utility and it couldn't be repaired. I installed DiskWarrior on the external drive (w/Lion) and I was able to repair the bad partition. I can now see all my folders and files. I tried verifying it in Disk Utility and it says it's fine now. I can access it from my Finders window as if it is normail again. Thing is, I can boot into it. If I press the option key at startup, it doesn't appear. I also can't select it as a startup disk as it doesn't show. I've tried searching but to no avail. Does anyone know what I can do so I can boot from this partition. I'm trying to get this to work so I don't have to reinstall and start over. My time machine back up is too old too (my bad).

I have a Macbook Pro from 2008. It previously just had one partition, with Lion on it. Â
I created a new partition for Snow LeopardÂ
I installed Snow leopard from a retail disk on the second partition. The installation went fine, and I got the message at the end that the installation was successful, and to restart the computer. Â
When I restart it, it just goes to the gray Apple screen, with the spinning gear, and never gets farther than that. The gear is spinning. Â
I can still boot successfully into Lion. Once I booted into Lion, I chose the Snow Leopard partition as the Startup Disk, but the same thing happens - just the gray Apple screen and spinning gear. I've let the machine sit for half an hour in that state, but it still does nothing but the spinning gear.Â
why I can't boot successfully into Snow Leopard and how I can fix it?Â

Today i formatted my entire disk, but made it Journaled, Encrypted. It installed (actually "downloaded aditional files"), and then booted with a cross/do not proceed sign. I booted from the install disk again, got an error telling me to reinstall OS X. I was never asked for my password, and when i started disk utility, the disk was locked.

I have a MacBook 4,1 with Intel Core 2 Duo processor 4GB Ram. It is taking over 10 minutes to boot up past the gray apple screen when I turn it on. First I cleared the PRam (?) then I checked the disk using Disk Utility Verify, and it said the disk needed repairs. So I ran the disk repair and it said it was unable to fix the errors on the HD. Â
I did a little research and tried booting into the Single User mode, then running /sbin/fsck -fy. It said that it found errors but could not fix them. I ran it two more times as suggested and got the same result each time. I then tried rebooting and now instead of taking 10 minutes to boot up, it takes about 5 minutes on the gray apple screen and then just turns off. I started in Verbose mode to try to troubleshoot the error and it appears the last thing to come across the screen before power down is a message "Apple Yukon 2: RxRingSize <= 1024....etc".Â
I decided next I would run the Apple Hardware Tester. The test came back with an error code "4SNS/1/40000001:IG0C-0.265". I am very good at searching the web but I could not find any errors that had the IG0C or IGOC or any combination at the end, but plenty of 4SNS/1/40000000(1) errors with different endings. From what I can tell people are saying anything with 4SNS/1/4000000 is a logic board failure, but this computer was literally just booting this morning until I did the /sbin/fsck -fy.Â

I recently experienced trouble with my iMac Late 2012. As a result of this I was wanting to do the step of reinstalling the OS completely. Complete with Time Machine backup and so on. So far so good.
As I tried booting into recovery holding R nothing happened. Tried again booting with options hold down. It then only showed me my hard drive to choose from. With another Mac I made a bootable Flash Drive which worked perfectly in my MacBook Air. So tried booting to the flash drive with my iMac by holding C and then again with options and again I was presented only my regular hard drive. Â
I already did this terminal thing { diskutil list; echo; diskutil cs list; } | open -f -a TextEdit and the result showed that there is no Recovery Partition installed. Still no problem. I did research and found out that it is possible to reinstall it by reinstalling Mavericks. No the only problem is: It won"t let me reinstall anything. I only got prompted a message that it can't be installed on my hard drive.
So now my question: Â Is there any other possibility to get rid of anything there is on my hard drive and do a clean fresh install of Mavericks?

it's embarrasing to say that somehow it turned out I erased my recovery partition. Some weeks ago I was trying very hard to set up three OS's in my MBP, installing and reinstalling many times Windows 8 and Ubuntu, in one of those reinstalling I saw the recovery partition from Windows, I didn't want this to be visible, but being so tired of trying I erased this partition, I don't remember if from Windows or from Mac Disk Utility or from GParted, but I erased it because I wanted to "see" the partition system very "stable", without any odd partition seemingly "useless" near there. After reading a little I realized it was the partition OS X uses to recover the system, I don't know if to reinstall the whole system or only to recover it. I want to reestablish this partition in order for everything to be fine. How to do it? If possible I know I would have to resize some partition because there is no more 600 MB partition, I was left with an 128 MB unallocated partition. I put some screenshots of what the whole disk partition looks like, in Disk Utility and GParted.
