I need to reformat a drive and reinstall the OS. I and using Avid Media Composer and it is not qualified on 10.7.3. How can I install 10.7.2 of a new drive?Â

Someone has suggested that I reformat my system to help eliminate problems with my version update. I have an ibook G3 128+512 mg ram 900 mhz white case 12' It had a Mac osX 2.8 verion. I updated to Mac OS X 3.9. I have had problems ever since with firefox versions not working and crashing. I have not been able to use flash or adobe flash because they won;t load. Flash or adobe flash won't load on Safari, either. How do I a reformat. Will this erase my hard drive. Is this the same as a clean install.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed windows through bootcamp and partitioned my hard drive to about a 300Gb/600Gb windows and mac respectively. After a while i decided to remove the windows partition. As I was repartitioning the Hard Drive through disk utility my mac froze and went to a gray screen so I restarted it. Disk utility says that the process finished however it does not recognise the 300Gb I used for windows. i.e. Disk utility says there is one partition, and that the total capacity is about 1Tb.
However the spaced used and space available adds up to 600Gb, its like the mac thinks that it is repartitoned to just 1, but not allowing me to acces that 300Gb. so my question is how do i completely strip back the hard drive to basic factory settings (iv backed up all my data to an external drive) so I can reinstall the mac operating system and repair the drive to make use of its full capacity, then re install from my backed up external drive.

I recently upgraded the HDD on my MBP and did a clone from my previous HD which had Lion installed. However I've now noticed my new drive does not include the Recovery HD. Is there an easy way to re-install the Recovery HD to my drive without messing with my entire install/system contents? I made a Lion boot-disk on a USB key so I have access to that. I normally do a clean install for all my installs and would love to avoid wiping my HD reinstalling all of lion, just to get the recovery disk.

I recently bought a macbook pro and am making the transition from a pc to mac. It's all gone well so far, but I'm not sure what to do with my music. I currently have about 200 gb of music on my external hard drive (connected to my pc.) The internal hard drive on my pc does not have space to accomodate the files on my external.
I do not have the "Copy files to iTunes music folder" currently enabled because my internal doesn't have space. (And I like having the original music files in a separate location as I have over 30,000 songs). I don't know how to transfer my external and music to my macbook, since I will have to reformat the drive (which would erase everything on it, therefore I somehow have to make a backup either on my mac or on my pc. but what to do about the iTunes .xml file and iTunes folder on the internal pc drive??).
After backing up my data and then swiping my hard drive using Disk Utility, my OS seems to have been uninstalled as well. Is there a way to recover the deleted information and go back to the last working configuration? I'm on a MBP IC2D 2.16 w/ Lion.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently tried to install a back-up copy of Leopard onto a USB hard drive, as a precautionary measure if my drive ever did die. I had partitioned my drive into 3. One for the Leopard Boot (Mac OS Extended Journaled), one for Apps (Mac OS Extended Journaled) and one for files (FAT 32).
The installation pooped out on me, probably due to the amount of free space available.
Earlier this week, I decided to reformat the drive into 1 partition. Unfortunately I ran into a spot of bother....

I plan on buying a new MBP this week and I am going to sell my old macbook to a friend of a friend. I seemed to have misplaced my Snow Leopard discs somewhere and was wondering if I could use the new disks with my new computer to reformat my drive? If not, are there any other options short of paying $30 to re-buy SL for this machine?

I have a 1 TB Lacie external drive. it was originally formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted). It also might have been formatted as a bootable drive, but I am not certain. Today I mounted the drive, entered the decrypt key and want to re-format the drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I am using Disk Utility to do this. When I click on Erase within Disk Utility, I get this error: I am using Mac OS X Mavericks. how to fix this so that I can re-format the drive?
