I have an acoustic guitar, attached to my Mac Mini (Lion 10.7.3) via a guitar pickup by a jack to audio input, with output to external speakers. System prefs are 'Audio line in port' and 'headphone port' - the only choices - but it doesn't even 'see' the input - there's no response from the input volume bit. I can play itunes, dvds, cds through the external speakers, but not hear anything attached via the audio input. I tried through garageband, and set the audio according to instructions, but even with 'hear playing while recording' set, I can't hear it.Â
I had been able to hear the guitar through the speakers before I (unfortunately!) had to reinstall Lion. This may be part of the problem: I forgot (yes, I know - daft!) to install Snow Leopard first. However, I do have it on another partition, which seems to be sufficient as in all other respects Lion so far is working fine.
I know Mountain Lion isn't released, but I know Apple has published quite a bit of specs and requirments already. So my question, which I havent found an answer to...as it sounds a little rare. Would it be possible to send video and audio (think Netflix app, Apple Video app, etc.) from an iPhone to an Airplay Mac running Mountain Lion? I don't have a tv, don't really need one as my 27" LED dispay is just fine. But at times I'd like to send video at times from my iPhone to a Mac. One main reason is Netflix Silverlight messes with some software I have, rendering Netflix streaming impossible on the Mac. I have seen a Mac desktop app that will do this—Reflection app—but I beleive there is a lot of compression that effects quality.

On my laptop, the Airplay refuses to ave sound. First it was just with some web content, now it's all sound.Â
Menu Bar -> Airplay -> Mirroring On
Result:Â Flawless video, no sound.Â
System Preferences -> Sound -> Output -> Apple TV
Result: Selection pops to the last item, Airplay stops displaying on TV. (Airplay on the mac thinks it's still working, but the Apple TV stops displaying.)Â
Rebooting doesn't work, pretty much nothing seems to have an effect.Â

I just bought the brand new macbook pro 13" lowest grade and do a lot of simple recording. My old macbook had both an audio in and out. one labeled headphones and one with the two triangles pointing toward the circle. It was expressed to me that this new one jack could support audio out and in as labeled by apples tech specs. I tried hooking up my synthesiser to the port yet garageband did not recognize an audio in port, nor did the computer.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a (little) problem with my new MacBook Air 2014 (13 inch.) running on 10.9.4 : when I connect it to any HDMI device (Philips monitor or Sony TV through Marantz amplifier) through a mini DP-HDMI adapter, I can't set audio output to HDMI because this option does not exist... However, I have video signal.Â
I've tried lots of "solutions", but nothing is working :
    - Shutting down, restarting, sleeping with and without the cable connected
    - Change HDMI cable
    - Reset PRAMÂ
Finally, I think the problem come from the Macbook because I have an other laptop (a Thinkpad with a mini displayport, with Ubuntu 14.04) and the video and sound are working normally.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe speakers on my Macbook have suddenly stopped working. If you plug headphones in, fine. In the system preferences, 'built in speakers' are no longer an option for audio output. Just 'digital out'. When I try and change the volume of the speakers, the symbol is greyed out, and there's a little "you can't do this" symbol.

could not be sure whether the Admin user - password reset with the CD would be the solution to my question as suggested in previous threads I searched - and have no idea where my start up install CD is
So my question-
I was trying to put parental control to ask for password when my computer starts up. I did something I guess and messed up the info.
I can log in with my own account when I restart my apple - which says now it is a standard account (must have messed that up)- but can not make any changes on system preferences or anything else that requires login and password. It requires Admin info. My own login that I use now used to be my admin so do not have any other info set.
now on system pref - accounts - an account titled "test" seems to be admin but can not even access that and reverse myself to be the admin since I can not unlock system pref. Or cant click on "Login Options" for the same reason.
There are no other users on this computer than me.
What do I need to do to make myself admin again?
Hope this was somewhat a clear question

I put in my Windows CD and pressed continue, it then loaded me up to the windows installation page and it told me that I could not use the Bootcamp partition to put my windows OP on, because the partition needed to be NSF or something like that, so I highlighted the Bootcamp partition from the menu, and then clicked the partition button, after I had done that, it was then able to install windows on that partition. After the installation was complete, my Imac now only boots up the windows operating system without any option to what operating system to be booted. What do I do?

My macbook pro runs louder than my now dead powerbook G4 used to. I'm wondering if there is a way to make the hum softer when I'm doing audio recording? I know it's bad to put something cushy underneath since it will heat up the machine, but I've experimented with that kind of thing, and it does lessen the hum. Are there different feet I can attach? When I choose the Desktop/screensaver option in the system pane, it unexpectedly quits. I can see that my screensaver is set to "Never". It will not let me click on "Desktop". To help trouble shoot the issue, I made another login account with the default settings - and the system pane works. I am able to test the screen savers, ect.Is there a way to copy the files/setting from the new login in to the old?

I recently discovered after installing the new Snow Leopard OS that I did not have a bluetooth option under my system preferences. I own a mid 2008 Macbook Pro (pre-unibody, more info below) and I know that I've used it before. I recently took my computer in to be repaired by Apple because the keyboard and trackpad were inconsistently responsive, and to fix it they simply replaced the entire top panel (with the keyboard and trackpad). I have also checked under the system profiler and it says that there is no information available for my bluetooth...what exactly does this mean? Did they forget to reinstall it? or what?
