Upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion and, in the process, appear to have lost access to my iTunes. After the upgrade, when I clicked on the iTunes icon, I was then asked if I wanted to "install iTunes!" I have found folders that appear to contain the contents, but really don't want to re-build my iTunes from scratch.
How can I reclaim my iTunes?

I have the latest version of Itunes 10.6 and run a Mac Book Pro - suddenly since the update everytime I open iTunes it closes (crashes) and then I get the option to restart - and it just keeps continuing to crash. This means I cannot update any of my devices either.

iTunes has been crashing for months when playing CDs (but it's fine for DVDs and the audio files on iTunes). ppc G5 iMac, 10.5.8. Twice on inserting a CD, again when the CD concludes, and often during playing, or when I try to adjust volume. It did this with a LaCie external drive and now that I've installed a new replacement Toshiba internal superdrive it still does exactly the same thing. After reading about the many bugs with v9.0.1 I obtained v8.0.2, deleted everything to do with iTunes and reinstalled the older version. However, the crashes continue unabated. Have run Disk Warrior, Tech Tools Pro5, reset the hardware pulling the AC plug etc., run Permissions over and over, thrown out prefs files, etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk so two days ago I downloaded iTunes 10. It downloaded, installed, and then asked to restart. All was going good, but when the computer came back on and I went to open iTunes, it would crash before even opening.
So I thought it was strange, but I kept using my computer like I was before the install, and went to sign on to Skype; crashed. I went to open Safari; flash player crashed. Quicktime, same thing. Chrome and firefox as well.
Take a look, all occurred right after downloading and installing latest iTunes. Report crash held 100% of CPU for quite some time. Systems Extension error popped up and could not fix under disk utility.

I have reinstalled my system (via Lion's system restore), reinstalled iTunes, including reseting the library and reimporting media. Same thing. Everything I hit play, or another songs plays at the end of another, the dock & finder relaunches. Everything else is flawless. I have another OS on another drive, for music, which shares the library and it's fine. 10.7.4 OS's & 10.6.3 iTunes.

I had Mavericks previously installed on my iMac mid 2007 and was promoted to upgrade to Yosemite which I did. Now when I try to open iPhoto and it reads unresponsive in red letters on the force quit window. When I select and click force quit computer then freezes. I am however able to open iTunes but when I plug my iPod in computer then freezes.

I have a MacBook and back it all up on a 1tb partitioned external hdd via my airport extreme over my network. This has been working fine for the past 2 months on hourly backups but two days ago when the backup started it would search for the hdd, not actually start the backup and freeze. The screen would darken and a message across the screen pops up saying I need to restart my MacBook. After a hard restart I have to turn off time machine to ensure it doesn't happen again. It would if I didn't turn time machine off. Am I sceptical that this timing is linked to me attempting to update to 10.7.3 at the same time and for some reason it didn't complete the download and install the update. I hear this update is flawed and the timing was the same as when this problem first happened.

I downloaded Dropbox and the Finder has crashed by blinking with the "restore windows"-window. Then I created another administrator account and from here deleted Dropbox. Then restarted and logged in to my normal account. Now Finder wasn't blinking like before but there is nothing viewable on the Desktop and when I click on Finder in the Dock several times it comes up with a window for a splitsecond then closes the window again. Then I can press it several times again and it comes up for a splitsecond and then closes again. When hitting the command-option-esc, the icon blinks here. I've actually also tried the killall Finder in terminal, but even this doesn't work.

Restarting my mac after a crash in Lion (of which there are many) takes an extemely long time. This is most likely due to restoring all applications/docs/etc after a crash to the state just prior to crashing- a new feature in Lion. Is there any way to disable this feature?

They work great, but occasionally on boot they have a fatal "you need to shut down..." error. corresponding to "current thread: Hamachid". i had this a few times and decided that i was done with hamachi and i have deleted it on both machines. About two weeks later i again got a fatal on startup. corresponding to drums.Hamachid!!!so i went in to library-application support and found that Logmein still had a folder with 10 files. i again deleted that folder on both macs (today). My late 2008 MacBook (aluminum) crashed last month. I have fixed many of the items that quit working except: I can no longer automatically log in. When I go to Preferences and then to Users & Groups (Login Options) the "Click the lock to make changes" always goes to page which says "System Preferences quit unexpectedly." On that page it says Exception Type: EXE_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) and Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000000. Is there a solution that does not require me to wipe the computer and reinstall from scratch?

When I make a call through Skype, after a few seconds I have a coreaudiod crash and skype stop responding. I am using Lion 10.7.4 and last version of Skype. All my softwares are up2date. I already re-install Lion ...Â
Could be linked to another issue I already logged about applications crashing [URL]Since Coreaudiod crashed, Safari is going very slow and crashed also 3 times in 10 minutes. I suppose because coreaudio is not there and should? Â
Here is the crash report : Â Â

Ever since I installed Lion last year on another iMac, and now on my current iMac, whenever I hold down option and click the red close button on a Finder window to close all open windows, the Finder crashes. It doesn't happen every single time, but enough to really make me angry.

I have an iMac A1225 EMC2211 that is exhibiting some weird behaviour. After about 5 minutes of using it (cold boot) it will either have a kernel panic, freeze and go into a blue (bondi blue I think) screen, or shut down. I ran an extended AHT on it and after 10 minutes it shuts down (black screen) then goes into a boot loop (screen stays black and system chimes once every 2 seconds). If the system is warm it will not boot (goes to blank grey screen). The consol reports something with the NVRAM (havent had the ability to post the log yet).

I have a macbook pro and I have the OS X lion installed with all the latest updates to Safari etc. Lately my browsers have been acting up. Â
While I can access a lot of websites on my Safari there are other sites which do not load and I get the spinning beach ball before Safari crashes. My Safari also seems to take longer to load. Â
I have the latest Firefox 12 installed. When that starts up on the home page it crashes straight away after the obligatory spinning beach ball. I tried to trouble shoot Firefox but it wouldn't even open in safe mode before it crashed. Â
I also have Opera which doesn't even start up. So I uninstalled and upgraded to Opera Next. It doesn't even start up! Â
I have checked for plug in issues. I have up to date adobe flash player and java - unless there is some issue there. I also checked my DNS and it seemed clean of trojans. But I could or may have overlooked something. Â
I did use 'onyx' to clean my files but the trouble began before I used it. So now I am at a loss to understand why I am having problems with my browsers. Â
I'm not very technical but I have done my best to follow various threads around here to dismiss obvious causes. Â

I recently upgraded to iTunes 9.1.1. After plugin in my iPhone I realized that some weird stuff was going on. I.E., iTunes asked me if I wanted to transfer all my iPhone purchases back to iTunes (I never buy iPhone Apps outside iTunes). After letting it SYNC again (iTunes copied all iPhone APPs back to iTunes) I noticed that my iTunes' podcast list was empty. Further investigation in showing me that files are there (~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Podcasts) but they are not showing in iTunes. I get a screen offering to show me some podcast videos & tutorials).
So, my question is:
1. Is there a way to rebuild iTunes database to see if that fixes the issue?
2. If #1 is not possible. How can I import my podcast list back.
I'm on my way to get insane! I've lost all my files after the last update of itunes. The message is that my itunes library is not compatible with the new version of itunes 10.6.Since I've made this upgrade,I can't recover my ancient files!

When trying to play a movie since the upgrade it states that it does not support quicktime. I have lion and the lastest version of QuickTime installed
