Recently had operating system crash. When Apple got me back up and running, my library and playlists were gone. Fortunately I have them on my ipad. When I next sync with the new itunes where these songs are not present, will they be lost. Is there some way to "upload" them from my ipad to itunes?

After having weeks of airport issues, the Genius Bar folks decided that reinstalling my operating system was the only opin to fix what they think is a software issue. After restoring all my data using my last backup and doing all software updates again, I am getting an error when trying to open itunes - 'the file itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes. Would you like to download itunes now?. The two oprions I am given are 'quit' and 'download itunes'. If I chose to download itunes it tells my there are no updates! I have also plugged my ipod into my laptop and it doesn't recognize it. What should I do?? I am totally lost. When I ran the updates last night it showed itunes updating, so I am unclear as to why it isn't even opening.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife took the imac to the apple store and to diagnose the problem with the slot card reader they erased the whole computer. I restored everything from a cloned backup of my entire HD that I made the day before using carbon copy cloner, but when I launch iTunes all of my playlists are gone. I have tried to remove the "itunes music library.xml" and itunes Lib.itl files and reimport them by "Importing PLaylists" multiple times and it hasn't worked.
Also when I do this procedure the itunes layout of the Artists/Albums/etc converts to a new format with a much smaller font and I can't seem to change it back to the way I was used to seeing my Music (with the 3 wide columns of Genres/Artists/Albums at the top with a light blue background color). I tried recopying the entire itunes folder from the backup and that restored the itunes window to the way that I had it setup previously but the playlists are still missing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use iTunes 10.6.1 (7) on Mac. I spend some time googling and searching for solutions for my problem, but everything is either outdated or simply doesn't work. I have a smart playlist with all songs that are matched on iTunes Match, but which are below 256k bitrate. I want to delete them from the library, so I can download new 256k versions of them. This is supposedly possible by using Option + Delete, but that doesn't work for me. I also tried all kinds of other combinations like SHIFT + Option + Delete or CRTL + Option + Delete and none of them work.

If I'm playing some music from a playlist, and I decide I want to delete it from my entire collection, I can't don't it easily. Deleting it right from the playlist doesn't remove it from my library. I have to go hunt it down in the main "Music" folder which is a pain in the ass, especially with multiple tracks. Is there some way, when looking at a track in a playlist, that I can delete it from my entire library and put it in the Trash?

This connects at startup and the hard drive icon is on my desktop logged in as admin. I loved the Genius Recommendation Panel on iTunes 9 and found lots of new songs and artists when using itI cannot believe Apple removed it from iTunes 10 and replaced it with a social networking site with the awful title "Ping"
So I replaced iTunes 9 last night, only to find that it wouldn't accept my iTunes library. I managed to reload the songs, but I have lost all my playlists, star ratings, play counts, etc. Its all gone.
What is the minimal configuration (operating system and memory) for installing iTunes 10.x on a G4 eMac?It already runs on Tiger 10.4.11 with 718MB of RAM.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAttempted to create a shared folder today and almost had it working. After a discussion on here, discovered I can share libraries by using fast user switching.
Now when I load my Itunes, every song is blocked out "Unable to locate original file" when clicked on. I have tried Time Machine to no avail.
A few days ago, I opened iTunes and a notification appeared saying my Library was "damaged," and then proceeded to reopen with about 500 songs missing. I went through my iPod to find a few of the songs that were on it that were erased from my Library (I haven't synced my iPod since it happened for fear of losing the songs for good), intending to simply re-import them into my Library - but the files were nowhere to be found. I opened Finder and searched for quite a while, but I couldn't find a trace. Â I've tried opening iTunes while holding down the Option key and choosing a Previous Library, but the most recent of the Previous Library .itl files is the same one - the one missing 500 songs. Â

I maintain my ITUNES Library on an external hard drive. Recently I had a power outage. When power was restored I clicked on my ITUNES before I turned my external drive back on.
More the half my library is now missing. When I click on a song I get message that file cannot be located.
I went to open my itunes and it said "itunes needs a library to open" then it would only let me choose a library that was dated to last july. I clicked on it and it opened my library from that date. I am really mad because it will now only open that library and im missing almost a thousand songs that have been downloaded since then. Why can i only open a previous library? Are all the songs, movies, and other settings that i have changed in the last 6 months gone?

Utilities test so Apple called in the computer and I had to have the hard drive replaced. The technicians reloaded the system from a 1TB external Western Digital hard drive; I had backed up the everything on it using Time Machine.
Unfortunately, the iTunes application cannot now locate my iTunes library. I create a lot of slideshows on Aperture and use music from iTunes on the audio tracks. The titles on the audio tracks are now inaudible and are preceded by a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside.

This opened iTunes so I highlighted and dragged all the other 'artist-named' folders on the iTunes interface and in doing so, I succeeded in accessing all the files.

I go to the backup library and the latest backup is from 12/07 - so I am missing over a years worth of stuff. View 3 Replies View RelatedI accidentally deleted my entire iTunes library. What happened was that I intended to delete all the songs from just one artist but for some reason, my iTunes deleted everything in my library which I have collected over the past 6 years. It gets worse because:
1 - I can't get my files back from my iPod because it died about a year ago
2 - I agreed to move all files to my recycle bin (at that point I had no idea I was deleting my entire library) and when I went to check the bin, none of the files were there
3 - I attempted a system restore but all it did was to return my folders with no files in them
4 - I tried to use a couple of undelete files software but none of them found the deleted files.
I'm really desperate to get my files back.
I just recently purchased my first mac (Black Macbook W/ Free Ipod Touch) about 2 weeks ago after growing up using windows and after getting used to a mac life i am loving the switch. I have the mini DVI to VGA adapter so i can hook my mac up to my 40" Samsung LCD and would like to get audio coming through my home theater for movies as well as just listening to music as the laptop speakers just dont cut it. Does air tunes play whatever audio comes from your mac or just specifically your iTunes library?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy upgrade seems to crash iPhoto and I have not been able to get iPhoto working. When I started iPhoto for the first time after the iLife update it had the usual "this library must be updated to work with this version of iPhoto" (that might not be the exact wording). Thoughtlessly I approved the dialogue as usual. The upgrade process made it through the first quick progress bar, but nearly immediately after starting the second progress bar iPhoto crashed. After restarting my mbp and opening iPhoto I got the same result. I even went so far as to reinstall the new iPhoto. Based on previous issues I tried holding option-command while starting iPhoto to get the rebuild dialogue and again the rebuild crashed iPhoto. Has anyone else been having the same issues or have any insight on how to resolve the issue?
