I have recently upgraded my iTunes to version 10.6 on my MacBook Pro and have since been having issues. Evey time i open the application a error message pops up stating 'iTunes has unexpectedly quit' and gives me a error review. If i could avoid backing up my library and reintalling the software that would be pferefable.

This has just started happening recently. I believe it may have something to do with Fluke; however I have totally uninstalled iTunes twice and it keeps happening. This seems to happen when iTunes is "Determining Gapless Playback Information".
Error log below as I cannot open iTunes at all! Crashes immediately upon opening.
Process: iTunes [12051]

Identifier: com.apple.iTunes

I have a 15-inch MBP (2011) 2.3 GHz, Core i7 with 8 GB of memory and a Vertex 3 MAX IOPS SSD. I'm running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4.As you can imagine, this is one quick system. When I first installed Lion (I did a clean install on a brand new SSD when Lion came out), my shutdown time was literally under half a second. Then a few days later, as I installed my usual apps, I noticed that the shutdown time suddenly went to 20 seconds with the usual grey screen and spinning wheel. I figured that one of my programs must be causing this, but could never figure out which. After living with this for months, I decided today to use Activity Monitor to try to quit some processes to see if my shutdown time would go down. After a few tries, I noticed that just starting and quitting Activity Monitor brings my shutdown time back to half a second..
I repeated this over a dozen times. I start my system and immediately shut it down: it takes 20 seconds to shutdown. Then I start it, run Activity Monitor and then immediately quit it, then shutdown: it takes half a second to shutdown.I can obviously live with a 20-second shutdown time. I don't shutdown often anyway and the system is super fast otherwise. But it's still nice to get to the bottom of this.

This is weird. A few days ago iTunes 10 started causing my computer to go crazy every time I launched it (didn't realize it was iTunes at this point causing the problems). The computer would slow to a snail's pace and eventually completely freeze. Then a day or so later iTunes stopped launching all together. It bounces in the dock, stops and then has to be force quit. Most disturbingly after one of these unsuccessful launches, when I try to shut down, the computer hangs and basically freezes requiring a hard shut down with the power button. A few reinstallations later, no change

Dialog appears and says" This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language. run the English version."I click OK and the dialog drops me to the Desktop. Nothing else happens. I tried iTunes 10.6 when it was released, which resulting in a crash every time I connected an iOS device so I 'downgraded' to 10.5.3.I thought maybe this was the fix. I guess not. "Downgraded to 10.5.3 again.

I have always been able to solve any issues with a search and have not been this stumped before. So the problem iTunes (10.6.3) has started freezing every time I open it, it happens after about 10sec and also freezes the finder and any other apps that are open I regain control for 1 or 2 sec every 15 - 30 sec during this window I can quickly quit iTunes and then every thing unfreezes, if I start a song playing as soon as I open iTunes it will continue playing throughout the freeze. System is iMac i7 2.8 21.5 inch Mid 2011 OSX Lion 10.7.4What I have tried  - All apple updates installed and up to date - Shutdown - Restart - reopen (Same result)- Repair disk permissions Restart (Same result)- Delete all iTunes .plist files (Same result)- Deleted iTunes Library Genius.itdb (Same result)- Deleted iTunes Music Library.xml (Same Result)- Create new user with empty Library (Same result)- Start iTunes in Safe mode Option and Command keys (Same result)- Deleted all plugins (Same result)- Deleted iTunes and installed 10.5.3 (Same result) - Deleted iTunes and reinstall (Same result)- Booted from Recover HD and ran repair disk and permissions (Same result) - Boot up in Safe mode Hold Shift key   THIS WORKS NO FREEZE -Used time machine and restored whole system to 2 weeks earlier (Same result)-Re installed OS X Lion from Recovery HD (Same result) So basically the only thing that has worked is Safe Boot/Mode but this is not really a solution.Â

My last.fm application automatically launches when I open iTunes, because it has a plugin in iTunes.I have a nice lyrics application called Get Lyrics that automatically downloads lyrics as I listen, and I'd like it to automatically launch with iTunes as well.I don't want it to launch at login, only when I open iTunes.

For the last several days my iMac will freeze a few minutes after launching, then proceed to freeze my entire iMac, forcing a hard reboot. I ran Activity Monitor when launching iTunes and noticed that before the trouble started simply mousing around or scrolling could take up 25% of my processor. Then it would jump up to 80-105% then it would fall to 0% and the system would freeze. If I then immediately used 'Force Quit Applications' I could force-quit iTunes... but only after the system itself had frozen for 10-30 seconds before finally giving me the pop-up asking to make sure I wanted to force-quit. (iTunes Helper never seemed to take any processor power.) iTunes 10 is definitely the culprit.Â
My setup: 2007 Core2Duo iMac 4Gb RAM, iTunes with 29,000 songs running 10.6.8 with latest updates. I have 185Gb left on my 750Gb drive. I've run Onyx to clear out all caches, and I've even trashed iTunes and downloaded a fresh copy from Apple and reinstalled.Â

For some reason, iTunes 10.1 will not fully launch. When I bring up a list of the Task Manager processes, I can find the itunes.exe process- but the program doesn't ever run. I've tried a lot of methods to get this to work, including installing an earlier iTunes version, but when I tried to open the earlier iTunes, it wouldn't accept my iTunes library, stating that it was from a newer version of iTunes.
I've also tried a system restore, but the restore function could not be completed and now I am completely lost on what to do- including replacing the core audio toolbox.dll file Any suggestions?

I did a standard weekly on-line software update on OSX (10.4.11), don't remember which one, but it was a small one, java and something else. (so no OS update, just software update).Result is that i can't launch Safari, UnrarX and iTunes anymore (and who knows, maybe a few other apps that i didn't try since the update).

I'm using 10.4.11 on a PB 12" and recently updated to iTunes 8.1. Ever since, iTunes will attempt to launch, getting past the "loading music library" prompt but then crashing immediately following. I've reinstalled the program, and also updated quicktime, but no avail. I can post a crash report, but here are the things that stick out to me:
Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x6c6f6c00

It first started when I tried to add music files to iTunes by draggin them into my library. It began processing and adding them to my library, but then crashed. After this, I tried reopening iTunes, and it crashes on launch. This now happens every time. I can't open my iTunes.
I've tried deleting the added files out of my iTunes folder, and I'm still getting crashing.I've even tried re-installing iTunes -- no luck

Before anyone says anything: Yes, I did do my research with MRGoogle before creating this thread. Most of the questions people had ever never answered (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=791337) or the posts where from 2+ years ago and not that relevant to the newer releases of iTunes.
Anyway, I decided to do a bit of song searching on iTunes today. I have a bunch of songs from the DDR series that I wanted to find the original, full versions of. So I opened up iTunes (which took about 30 seconds to load, mouse cursor pinwheeling the entire time) and opened up a playlist of said songs in a separate window. In the main window I opened up the iTunes store and started my search. To pass the time, I played the playlist in the background while switch between the two windows to check song tiles, artist names, and the like. While searching for songs, iTunes would randomly start pinwheeling for ~5 seconds, music still playing in the background. The same thing happened when I tired to change to a different song in the playlist. I tried to open TextEdit so I could copy down the songs I couldn't find in the iTunes store and the system pinwheeled yet again. It 5+ seconds to open TextEdit. Even when I'm running Firefox with multiple tabs and windows open, it opens instantly.
I know my machine is a bit old (Early 2008 MBP 2.4 C2D) but its not ancient. I'm running 4GB for crying out loud. I've had similar issues in the past that got so bad I stopped using iTunes all together for awhile. I've tried installing iTunes, uninstalling iTunes, even going so far as to remove most of the iTunes-related fumes from my Library. Nothing seems to help.
I'm at a loss to why this is happening. Originally I thought it was a corrupt library or something, but I've rebuilt my library and it was a temporary fix. Anyone here have ideas about what I can do?

I have had Lion since the day it came out, and this is the first time I've encountered this problem. All of the applications that I have downloaded and installed before yesterday worked perfectly. Then, out of the blue, any application that I install or update (not from the App store) refuses to launch. It either bounces forever in the dock or does nothing when it is clicked.Â
The only system changes I have made are installing Photoshop CS6 Beta and Steam. So far, I've tried:
- Permissions & Disk repair through the Lion recovery partition
- Removing and re-downloading the apps
- Running in 32-Bit modeÂ
I'm running 10.7.3, with all the latest updates installed, on a mid-2011 Macbook Pro. Restoring from a TM backup is not really a viable option currently, since my backup drive is 50 miles away and unavailable for the next week and a half

2011 Core i7 iMac with Lion. Noticed yesterday that system prefs won't launch. No spinning beachball, does absolutely nothing including no launch animation. tried resetting the SMC, followed by booting into disk utilities and doing repair permissions. Then did a reinstall of Lion, again from the disk utilities boot. Not sure if I was at 10.7.3 or 10.7.4 before all this, but reinstall got me back to 10.7.3, updated to 10.7.4, problem persists with both.Â
I just noticed this is only with the main admin account. There is one secondary account on the computer that my kids use - if I switch to it I am able to access system prefs. Â

How to automatically launch work contexts? By the term context, I mean:
- When I'm working on website design, I always need to have Coda application on the right, a browser on the left.
- When I'm developing with XCode, I need XCode on the right and iPad simulator on the upper left and at the bottom left, I have the documentation, etc.
I'd like to be able to by one click to launch all of that correctly placed on the screen etc.

Safari 5.1.4 update downloaded into Lion 10.7.3 on a Mac mini earlier today. Won't launch. Creates a report saying it is 5.1.2."Reopen" just repeats a report (many sent from different accounts!)As far as I can see other apps still work including Adobe CS4 and Firefox.Cannot enter safe mode to try it there by using shift on reboot as suggested for Lion. Not sure what extensions I have for Safari but very few. Definitely Ghostery (wouldn't be without it).Have looked at "get info" and it is running (or, to be more precise, not running) in 64 bit mode. Tried 32 but that didn't work either so have restored to 64. I have run out of ideas, short of abandoning Safari and waiting for the next update.

After upgrading to Lion I see a check box at shutdown to refrain from opening web pages currently open in Safari. I did that, unchecked it, but they still open. How odd they would make this a opt out scenario - is there a way to make this permanent? I liked the old way where you could go into History and do it during a new session.

So everything installed on my Lion iMac works absolutely fine. However, I recently tried to re-install Appfresh (an application updater), so I used Appcleaner to uninstall it, grabbed a new download, dragged it to Applications as normal, double-clicked it.. nothing. The icon sits in my dock, and the indicator pulses, continuously, but the application never appears. It's not in the Force Quit menu, and Activity Monitor has no trace of it either.Â
I thought, okay, something up with Appfresh. But I've since tried a couple of other apps, and a game (Botanicula), and the exact same thing happens. I've done nothing new in the way I've installed them, opened their .dmg files, and dragged the application into Applications, completely normally, but they all do the "sit in the dock and nothing else" thing. If I left-click them once in the dock, they vanish, and that's all I hear of them. I've tried Disk Utility to do both verify and repair permissions to both the disk and the partition, but that hasn't solved the problem. I'm running the latest 10.7.3 with all patches to remove Flashback, etc.Â
