OS X V10.7 Lion :: Finder So Slow After Upgrading
Jun 20, 2012I came from OS Snow Leopard on a fairly basic Macbook Pro 13 inch model, and upgraded to Lion. I use Finder a lot, and something I noticed immediately was how SLOW finder is now in OS Lion. Does anyone else seem to be having this problem? When I use the space-bar to preview something it can take up to 10 seconds for me to load a preview, where it used to be instantaenous in Snow Leopard. I also have problems moving around in finder, like going from Downloads to Desktop, there's a 5 second delay minimum.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Finder PDF Services Missing After Upgrading
Feb 7, 2012I used to have two finder services set up so that I could select a number of image documents and have it convert the images to a PDF, or that I could select a PDF and convert it to images. Since upgrading to Lion when it came out, these services have been gone! In the meantime I've set up these automator actions as applications that I can drop the input files onto, but I would really love to have my services back. (I just now fixed my "PDF Improver" service that I used to have, would it be the same in this case [ie moving the old service to /Library/PDF Services]?

And when I create my own recent files saved search, it's hit or miss as to whether it actually shows my recent files. I found the 10.5.1 version by googling it, but cannot find a 10.5.0 version for download anywhere (seems to be a requirement before the 10.5.1, much to my newbie chagrin).

May 13, 2012I recently upgraded to OX 10.6.8 (MacBook Pro). Now Quark Xpress and Microsoft Word can't find the fonts. They both see the same list of fonts. The fonts are all windows true type fonts (.ttf). The list of fonts available does not include all the .ttf fonts in the library. There is no font folder anywhere that has only the fonts that these two apps see in it. The apple apps I tested see all the fonts in the library. Â How do I make the fonts available to the non-apple applications?

Jun 3, 2009I am about to switch over to a 17 MBP this August, and I was wondering how good Finder is in Leopard.
Msft's find/search feature was absolutely atrocious in XP and Vista--but if you have used Windows 7 you know that their new search function is absolutely brilliant. It works much like Mozilla's Thunderbird finder, where results are almost instantaneous (even before you finish typing the word) and very very accurate.
Can the new finder in Snow Leopard compete with Windows 7?

OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Finder Window Freezing When Attempting To Find?
Jun 19, 2012I have a fresh install of 10.5.8 client on a PPC-based G5 tower. Having an odd issue where, if I open a new Finder window and do a find (command-f), the window gets "stuck" (doesn't change to the "find"-based window, gets stuck at whatever it was when I hit command-f). The rest of the desktop and computer responds as normal, it's just that single window that gets stuck — it's almost like it the desktop/GUI won't update the drawing of just that window. I can open new Finder windows and do everything else — but the only way to get rid of the stuck window is to kill Finder and let is restart. I've tried re-applying te 10.5.8 combo updater, created a new admin user, etc. — all the standard troubleshooting stuff.

OS X Mavericks :: Finder -> Doesn't Find Files In Root / Library
Jun 3, 2014I wanted to put the "Epson Printer Utility 4" application in my dock bar. So in Finder, I selected File > Find, and set it to "Name" "begins with" "Epson Printer".
Mavericks found the "Epson Printer Finder" application in [Root] / Applications / Epson Software, but it did not find "Epson Printer Utility 4" in [Root] / Library / Printers / EPSON / InkjetPrinter2 / Utility / UT4. As a test, I also tried File > Find for the "World Clock" widget in [Root] / Library / Widgets - also not found.
Both files are fully visible to me, and I have have Admin privileges. I set my Finder preferences to "Search This Mac" when performing a search. I can't find any other preference to have Mavericks really, truly search ALL of This Mac, including the root directory folders.

Apr 14, 2012I just upgraded to lion and now i can't drag and drop files from my desktop onto my macintosh HD icon. i get the error popup window "The item (filename) can't be moved because "Macintosh HD" can't be modified" then I need to click on the "Authenticate" button on the popup window, type in my password for the system and then it will add it to my mac hd.
i'm sure i just have something locked or set wrong, but i've never gotten this error before. does anyone know what i need to change or do so i don't have to authenticate each time i want to drag/drop something onto my HD?

May 11, 2012Just upgraded my macbook pro from Snow leopard 10.6.8 to Lion 10.7.2, after upgrading I instantly installed the software updates and now my version is 10.7.4. However the i noticed the computer was getting hot fast and im sure its not a problem with the indexing and spotlight because that finished hours ago. Please help, do not want to melt my computer down. Before on snow leopard istat detects my temperature as 30 degrees celcius to 40 when im just surfing on firefox, now on lion istat shows 60-70 when only firefox is open and 50+ when nothing is open.
