I'm trying to move emails from the "On My Mac" section from one mac to my new one. I've successfully transferred the folders from ~/Library/Mail and they show up, but the folders are empty when I open the mail application on my new mac the folders are empty.
I have two folders in my trash which I cannot empty. No matter how many times I try these folders will not go away. I have open the "info" link and marked them read and write without success.
I just bought a MacBood Pro and used the migration assistant to transfer my files from my PC to my mac and now I cannot find my files. They are not in the corresponding folders where I thought they would show up.
When I want to save a file that somebody has attached to an email, I open the file - but I can only save a version (which I presume saves it back to the email). So I create a duplicate, and choose Save. In Save all I can see of my documents are the most recently used folders - and I can't see any subfolders. Frequently the folder that I want to save in isn't shown - and I can't find any way of revealing it. And if it is shown, I can't see any of the sub folders - so I have to go through the performance of saving it in one place and then opening the folders in Finder and moving it around - a ridiculously long winded task.
I'm a iMac novice (I've moved from Windows). When I write new emails, sometimes (and ONLY sometimes), it keeps them in the outbox for indeterminate periods - up to many hours. I can still receive emails while there's one in the outbox, so it can't be a connection problem, and I've got only one account. Outlook Express has a "Send" button, and I'm regretting losing that facility with the iMac.
mac online did a complete resetting and reinstallation on my iMac.
in this process they lost my mails, fortunatly there is a backup in Time Machine but i can not find the mails that i left on the left column in mail under "in my mac" where do i find them and how can they be restored again?
I have recently given up on anything PC and moved to Mac. Mostly I am very happy with my decision but a couple of things niggle me and I don't seem to be able to change them.
In imail when delete an email from any of my mail accounts or the inbox, imail automatically selects the next newest email. I would like it to select the next oldest email. Is there anyway of changing this?
I know this is quite petty! but I'm just used to it working that way in outlook and keep deleting email I want to keep.
I'm helping my mother who has an old mac laptop. I'm not familiar with macs so please bear with me. Her email has stopped working. She's using OS 10.3.9. It's apple's email app. I notice that when trying to send it sometimes says that it timed out on port 25. She seems to receive items but can't send. She's sent things to me which haven't gotten through. She used to have a percentage bar and a sound when mail was sent which has stopped. She has full bars for her wireless connection and safari browses the internet fine. What should I be looking for?
After my experiments with Applescript and Automator there was some folder created with another folder inside consist of first folder consist of second folder consist of first folder and so on. Placed it to trash and tried to empty - but without results. Tried emptying with option key, tried secure emptying, tried rm -rf ~/.Trash command and also cd ~/.Trash sudo rm -r `ls -a` and also other variants with rm - no results. There are no any error messages (like "files in use"), just nothing happens. 10.5.8. Disk permissions are all ok. Shot of trash with folders opened to some deep.
I cannot delete empty folders from my Trash ( mac 10.5) I read all the threads in Macforum. Tried every possible code in Terminal, external programs that were advised. I found using ls -alO that one of my folder is hidden that's about it. But I have 5 folders in the Trash ( Zero KB), not deletable!
I'm trying to install OS X Lion on my 27" iMac.I've erased the HD using Disc Tool in recovery.HD shows no errors.I've tried Internet Recovery (it loads up, but wont start the installation)I've tried creating a recovery usb on another similar iMac, and use it on this. Same error, only differance is it keeps "loading" when installing, but nothing happens. Same error in log. When I try to start the Reinstall I get an error in the installation log that goes something like this:
Install Mac OS X Lion[354:9c03] Couldn't find app store version, falling back to hardcoded Can not connect to /var/run/systemkeychaincheck.socket: No such file or directory Apple Care suggested: Trying another network (doesn't work).Install with the original Snow Leopard DVD first, then upgrade (can't do that, the DVD is lost and a DVD from another friend is not working) What can I do to get around this error?
When I go into my iTunes folder (on windows ) all of my music folders are empty. There is an artist folder and an album folder for all my music but each one appears empty.
When I right click on the main iTunes folder it tells me that I have 26gB of stuff so it must be there somewhere (and I haven't set them to be hidden files). When I am using iTunes and go onto 'Get Info' for a song, it tells me that it is in the iTunes folder. Also, when I search for a specific song title in Windows, the file is shown.
Was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or knows of how to rectify it.
I've been obliged to reinstall ALL my data.On a brand new hard drive, I did a clean DVD install of 10.6.5, and then a clean Software Update install of 10.6.8, in my MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo, with 4 MB of RAM.I have NOT been able to rely upon my Time Machine backups (long story).Instead, I've been obliged to do a raw copy of all my data from an external hard drive.Everything seems to be back where it was except Mail 4.5.Mail launches fine, it can see all my accounts, it can pull down new mail, and I can see all my Mail folders, as evidenced by this screen grab:The problem is that ALL my Mail folders (Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash, Junk, etc) appear to be empty.
So, for example, the Mail folder called 'Newspapers' shows that it has 20,418 unread messages within it.However, when I click on the 'Newspapers' folder, I can't see ANY messages, either read or unread.Instead, I just get a blank white screen. All my Mail accounts are running on standard POP configs. No IMAP complexities, or anything like that. I've installed EXACT copies of these three folders, all of which worked fine before I was forced to reinstall all my data:

For some times now I have problems with finder. First I thought it was a problem accessing the network but I also have the problem with the local folders!!
After logging to my account, it works well for some times and then suddenly (may be after accessing machine on my network - Synology NAS) finder begin to show all folders as they are empty!!!
The funny thing is that if for instance I do a "file/open" within an app or do an attachment and so access a "windows like finder" it works!!
But if I use the finder ... folders are empty (shown as ...).
The only thing to get everything back is to restart the computer (and many times I have to hard stop the machine as the finder is not working anymore and my mac mini don't want to restart. I keep the desktop background and nothing happened!!
The strange thing is that it seems I don't have the problem on my MacBook Pro!! The mac mini was a clean install!
I ask for forgiveness since now if I'm posting something that already exists and I couldn't find, but I wasn't able to find any helpful resource to fix my problem. I've always used Mail and I like it. I have three addresses, one of the provider, the other two belongs to my personal domain. They've always worked fine. Since two months they suddenly stopped to send e-mails. The error says there's a problem with smtp server. I tried to change smtp settings, I've edited mail settings, tried to set up another account and tried to download another app for mail: always the same problem. My mother, that has a mac too and an e-mail account with our provider, doesn't have any problem. So I tried to copy those settings on my MacBook Pro.. nothing.
On itunes, I have my account/library and my wife has hers. For some reason her library disappeared. Her folder is still in the music folder along with mine, but her music, apps will not show up in itunes and her account name also is gone when opening itunes with option c I can see both accounts and when I choose hers and itunes opens everything is blank if that makes sense.
She is afraid to do a sync because she is afraid she'll loose the apps, music and other items from her itouch. I don't want to mess with it because I'm nervous about messing my library up as well trying to restore hers. Is there anything I can do to get her library to load in itunes and not distrurb mine and resync her itouch and my iphone? I didn't see any answers to this specific 2nd account issue and I hope the description of the issue is clear.
I just bought a new iMac with OS X Mavericks, and when I transferred my data from my old iMac with Snow Leopard, all my mailboxes appeared, but they were empty. How can I get back my saved emails?
Is there anyway to sync the Mac Mail app and Yahoo! SBC Global server with each other? Like on the iPad, you can move files and such, and it syncs with the server. Can I do the same with my imac?
I have lately gotten notifications that my i-cloud account have been used logging in on a browser. Since I could not truly verify that this was me doing so I did check for updating my password. Two things happened.
1) The e-mail returned to me from i-cloud to reset was empty ? (Is there currently a system problem?
2) I then tried to go through security questions process - but i-cloud tells me my birthdate and year is invalid.
This whole issue makes me insecure about the integrity of my i-cloud account or whether there are system problems creating this at this time?
I am having issues receiving e-mails from one person especifically. domain digiboo.com. Is there a filter or wirewall witin the e-mail application that needs to be disable?
After the latest iPhoto update a week or so ago, my ability to e-mail from iPhoto has stopped.I get an error: "Your email did not go through because the server did not reply.Check your Internet connection. If the connection is working properly, the email server may be down. Try sending your email again later." This is not the case, standard mails work fine and I have removed and added 2 different types of e-mail addresses in iPhoto and its the same (one a .me and one a sky.com) I have diabled the firewall (just in case) but still no joy.
System Preference is locked and no action possible with it. Time Machine has been restored and System Preference is still locked. I have reinstalled Lion and I need to retrieve only my mails from Time Capsule. Could you tell me where mails are located on Time Machine?
