View 1 RepliesI've a DVD from a Mac mini Late 2009 box, named as: Mac mini Mac OS X Install DVD. Mac OS version 10.6. Disc version 1.0 2Z691-6561-A. I think it's a build 10A432 of Snow Leopard.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got done loading 8gb of ram and my OCZ vertex 2 ssd 40gb. Load Time of apps is amazing. My one question is boot time went from 48 seconds to 33. Should I be getting better. I used carbon copy to clone drve and I'm only using 14 gb of the 40 that's there. I domhave to say these setup screams at certain jobs.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a late 2009 Mac Mini with 2.26 ghz core and 2 GB memory running Lion 10.7.4. I wish to restore my computer to factory settings but when I put in my Snow Leopard disc I continue to get an error message that reads "You can't use this version of the application Install Mac OS X with this version of Mac OS X. You have Install Mac OS X 23.1.1."Â I wish to restore my Mac to Snow Leopard and then redownload Lion from the App Store and start fresh with 10.7.4 on my restored Mac but I am finding it incredibly difficult.

would like to know. 15" model. I've also seen a thread about taking the ODD out and adding another HDD or SDD, but can't find the thread.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have seen mentioned in a few other threads that the total recognized RAM might be superior to the official 4 Gb, just like older minis could see 3 Gb instead of 2. Has anybody tried it yet?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought the base model Mac Mini yesterday, and I am going to tear it open today to put in a bigger hard drive and more RAM. My question is...since I don't need the entire 4GB of RAM, I am happy with 3GB. The system has one 1GB chip in there already, so can I simply just pop in a second 2GB chip for a total of 3GB? I wasn't sure if they had to be installed in pairs or not. Is there any downside besides obviously the memory not being under Apple's warranty?
View 3 Replies View RelatedLeopard 10.5.8 runs fine on this 2.26ghz Mac Mini. BUT every time I try to install Snow Leopard, with about ten minutes left in the installation process, I get a kernel panic. The only thing I can think of that is doing this is either 1. I am driving a 30" Cinema Display through a mini dvi to dvi adapter on the Mini -- reducing resolution but still running it fine (I do this with my 12" Powerbook 1.5ghz as well, doing it now as a matter of fact. It makes the picture huge but fine for me at moment) 2. 3rd Party Ram bought at Fry's Patriot 2 x 2GBs ... but passed hardware tests and no problems in 10.5.8. 3. I have not done all the imovie/garageband/idvd/remote desktop/itunes 9 updates in Leopard. I have done all the other updates to 10.5.8 and don't use these apps, so can't see how this is affecting a Snow Leopard update. Any thoughts? It quits and kernel panics during the Snow Leopard update. It was kernel panicking in Leopard, too, when using iPhoto a few weeks ago. Wondering if it is something to do with the Mini Dvi to Dvi adapter (not dual link) to 30" Cinema Display?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook pro (late 2009) and I'm trying to connect it to a fairly new Samsung LED tv. Ive tried to connect it to the tv with audio with two cables: a minidisplayport/hdmi cable and the audio jack/RCA cable. The video works just fine, but the audio is not working. The computer doesn't even recognize the tv as an audio output device. I found out that only macbook pro's made after late 2010 support audio through the HMDI cable so i was trying to find a cable that will support audio on my 2009 macbook pro.

Last Friday, my half charged Macbook Pro randomly turned off and was unresponsive. No sleep/power indicator light, no start up chime, nothing. The only thing that works is the battery indicator light. I have tried a PRAM reset, SMC reset, everything suggested on this website and in the manual. I'm wondering what I'm looking at replacing here, and what the cost could be.

can I replace my HDD in my late 2009 iMac myself? The current drive is toast and I've heard that late 2009 Apple started using HDDs with thermal sensors.

My CPU fan seems to be running fast a lot on my late 2009 IMac. When I wake my system up in the morning the CPU fan is running at 939rpm. After 20 minutes of surfing I can hear it and it is at 2456rpm. All of the internal temps are around the same.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased my mac and I had this problem once already, but it fixed it quickly with a safe reboot. When I turn it on the chimes go and the grey screen appears with the apple logo and loading bar. The loading bar disappears before showing any progress and goes straight to the apple logo with the gray spinning wheel. I've tried doing a safe boot, along with resetting the PRAM and SMC, but nothing works.

Mid 2009 MBP here. Original disk was failing so I replaced it with a Seagate Momentus XT and Lion refused to install. Formatted the drive correctly and made sure it was GUID partition. Even went as far as removing a memory module because I had heard that having more than 2 Gigs could cause issues during installation. Also made sure that the drive had the latest firmware. Â
Flash forward and I returned the drive and got a Western Digital Scorpio Black and have the same problem: Stuck at 21 minutes. Â
Currently installing with a 10.7.3 USB drive. I've tried numerous times with a 10.7.0 disk as well as the original Snow Leopard restore discs that came with the machine. Is the mid 2009 just incompatible with these drives?

I'm seeing most of the sleeves on Amazon are listed as being for the other Macbook (the unibody aluminum one) I want a snug fit, and the power adapter shouldn't be factored into this decision, as I don't want a messenger bag, I will carry my Macbook in my backpack, so we're good there. Price range is under $40 USD including shipping. I was at the Apple store last week, and I looked at the Paul Frank ones, I don't need a designer case, I want one that will protect it, and that's about it.

I phoned up an authorised Apple reseller in my city (not a proper Apple store) a few weeks ago and they confirmed the necessary part number was MB363ZA/A, and this is what they would install for about 35 (price including purchase of the card).

I bought a displayport to minidisplay port cable and connected to my iMac 27; nothing is happening. My laptop says no displays detected and the iMac does nothing when i press command-F2...i've also tried command-F2-Fn. It doesnt even seem to respond to command-F2. Also under the keyboard shortcuts menu there are only two shortcuts for displays and its to dim and brigthen the display. The iMac and PC are both up to date with software; OSx 10.7.4 Lion.

It seems that the xBench results for the new 21.5 iMac (base model) are about the same - and maybe a tad bit lower - than my late 2006 20" 2.16 Ghz iMac (score: 140.8) My Geekbench score is lower - c.2900 - it seems, but not by as much as I thought.
Can this be? Is my machine just as fast as the new base models? I've always found that my 2.16 was a bit pokey, sometimes take 15 secs to launch Entourage or Word and 5-10 secs to launch Safari. Opening documents takes a while as well. I was thinking of upgrading, but these speeds are not encouraging.
i just bought the imac 21.5 inch with ati radeon 4670 and the base spec. after few hours of playing with this new toy. i realise that when you press the shutdown button, it will put the imac to sleep instead of showing the shutdown/restart option that i have on my macbook. Is there any way to make it work like a macbook power button. secondly, whenever my imac wake up after sleeping, the fan will run faster and automatically went to sleep again. this issue just keep repeating itself. i have no choice but to shutdown the imac and boot up again. Thirdly, i try the machine on WoW and i realise that the sound is rather choppy
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a late 2009 model MacBook Pro and lately I've noticed that it sometimes - seemingly at random - restarts itself when I tell it to shutdown (through the Apple menu then Shut Down)
Anyone encountered this or know how to fix it? I haven't had any other problems except for a month or two back it did an update then stuck on a blue screen with a little loading icon like you get under the apple when it starts up normally. After half an hour of waiting, I performed a hard reset, and it worked fine.
So my macbook is just a few days old, but i think i found something weird with the dvd drive. Its my first mac, so i dont know about this. But is it common that i have to push the whole dvd/cd inside the drive before it know its a dvd/cd there, its just a tiny bit of cd/dvd to spot before it takes it and sucks it inside. I thought, when over the half of the cd/dvd in, it sucks the cd/dvd inside automaticly. Seems weird i have to push it all inside before something happens. Is this normal? Also it makes alot of noise at the start, when it sucks it in
