I'm considering purchasing the new 11.6" MBA with the 128GB SSD. I'm stuck whether I should get this, or wait for a new 13" MBP..
I am a writer so the computers main purpose would be for my writing and it's biggest positive is that it's small and extremely portable.
I am wondering however, will this MBA I'm looking at be able to run OSX Lion when it becomes available?
Also, anyone who has the 11.6" air if you could perhaps share your experience so far with it that would be excellent.
We're hunting for a small printer for a crowded office space. There's a not much desk space or shelf space.
Only need something to print. No scanning, faxing or other functions! Hoping we can get Canon that is compatible with the inkjet 40 and 41 cartridges as we already have a printer that uses those.
Requirements:
Text documents
Photo printing
So I successfully transferred all my programs from snow leopard except for iWork. It's a volume license so I think there's something wrong with - the migration process? - me?

I have an older Power PC Mac that runs OS 10.4. Mail does not accept my password on this computer. So I can neither send or receive mail. While my Intel Mac that runs Lion & iCloud accepts the same pw and works fine. What should I do? There is no update for Power PC Mail application. Is this time to discard this older Mac completely?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor the past month or so, any time I've tried to go through the process of installing an app that requires Installer to do the work, when it comes time to enter my admin password, nothing happens. The password box pops up, I enter the correct password (as when I enter an incorrect one it does its "incorrect password shake-thing") and, like always, the admin password box disappears. Normally at this point, the installer continues on to install the app, but instead it does absolutely nothing. I can click "Install" again to enter the password, but, again, nothing happens. I've tried changing my password, deleting preference files, doing a disk repair and permissions repair - nothing.

I just recently purchase the larger iMac and and I was told I can make things on the screen larger so that I won't have to strain my eyes. I just can't figure out how to do so. I know how to work it for Safari but the text on the left side of the Mail is way too small. Also where it says File Edit View Etc at the top also needs to be larger. My eyes hurt after 10 minutes because I am straining to see.

I have several home security cameras that utilize Java.I've had them for years. But just in the past day, I've begun noticing a lightning fast popup that comes flying by and leaves so fast I can't even read it. It happens when I first launch one of the cameras in either Safari or Firefox (likely would do the same in other browsers too. I finally had to use a screen recording app to be able to record when the pop up flies by.I then slowly scrolled and paused on the message. It is a standard security message that says, "Do you want the application "Java" to accept incoming network connections?"Â
There is an ALLOW and DENY button but there's no way the popup ever is on the screen long enough for you to even read it, let alone click on a selection. I see lots of other posts about this around the discussion forum and I see how I could go into the Security preferences and perhaps allow network connections there, assuming I can figure out how to point to the correct piece of Java code (System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk???) But my bigger question is why now? I haven't done any updates in the recent past and I log onto to these cameras every day... Granted this popup goes by fast but it is noticeable... Had it been there a week ago I would have noticed it... But no... It just started today. Why? And why would any message that seeks a user choice automatically appear and then disappear within a fraction of a second?

For some reason, Messages Beta suddenly began throwing up a dialog when I receve a new text, asking me to accept it. It just started doing this a few days ago. This doesn't happen with every message I receive, and I know the senders that "cause" this message are fellow iPhone users. Could they be using an old version of iOS?Â

Problem detected lately: When managing units (Airport Extreme) the Main Password to manage the Airport is not longer accepted when entered (asked by) server application. The password is valid and I am able to have full control over the base station when I am using the Airport utility application. Reseting and complete new installation of the Airoprt Extreme does not bring the wished result of being capable to manage the Airport Extreme thru Server Software.

I have an iBook G4 running 10.5.8 and a new iMac running Lion. Migration assistant will not accept Timemachine backups. I can't upgrade the OS on the iBook anymore. I only want to move my music, photos and documents. Can I do this by Firewire?

We are a small business with 2 mac mini's, 2 macbook laptops and another macbook pro laptop who is remote. (the remote laptop is not a deal breaker) We are beginning to have a nightmare with file storage, everyone is saving their own work to their own workstation and it's becoming difficult to share files etc. Basically, our requirements for a solution are:Â
- Sensible file server, allowing all on-site computers to use the server as a main file storage
- Something I can back all computers up with from time machine
- Useful to restrict certain users to certain files
- Useful to have external access to files when off site and via the likes of iPad etc. Â
I've looked in a NAS Raid drive and the OsX Lion Server and also the Time capsule and am just so confused at what to buy. Although the calendar sharing options etc. on the server would be useful, we can also do this via icloud. It's mainly the file access that is such a problem. Â I wonder whether a time capsule would be good enough as a file server - which we then back up to the cloud to secure the data.
I have a mid 2009 2.6 Ghz 15" macbook pro, and recently purchased two samsund ddr3 4gb 1600hz 204 pin RAM. I removed my two 2gb standard Ram from my macbook pro, and inserted the two 4gb Ram. When I turned the computer one it began using its 3 beep sequence as if the Ram fail, so I removed one 4gb Ram and reinserted a 2gb Ram and the computer started. It said I had total 6 gb ram. I am wonderind why It won't accept both of the 4gb Ram.

Before I go and stick this tiny little dvd I have into my macbook and get it stuck in there...what size dvds/cds does the macbook superdrive take? I know the nintendo wii will take the smaller cds/dvds but does the macbook take them?
I know not all slot loading drivers are created equal, but will they work the same way?
When I put a CD in my Macbook Pro, it whirs around for about a minute, but then my computer just spits it back out. The CD's work in other computers I've tried them in and I've tried both new and old CD's with my computer. Nothing works.

i've been thinking of downgrading from my 17" to a 13".the 17" is great, when you actually sit down and start using it.but to carry around, kindof sucks. not because it's too heavy, just too wide.but is the 13" too small? personal opinions for those who own it?i'm going to go to the apple store and try it out for a little while, but even then. extensive use in a home environment and such is a lot different than using it at the apple store.so, owners of 13". do you love it? or do you wish you went with 15" or something
View 24 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Mac book, it's a 13". The battery life is phenomenal and the trackpad is luxurious. However I find it really difficult to see the text on my screen. In the browser this wasn't a problem as I could zoom in, but the text in the address bar, and in all other applications the font is very small. I looked into changing the DPI for my Macbook and couldn't find a solution. I'm zooming in to see things but it looks distorted and obviously horrible.

The last time I used my cd drive was a couple months ago to burn a cd.
The cd didn't come out so I followed the steps to eject it and it came out properly. Since then I haven't used the drive until recently. When I went to enter a cd to burn some songs onto it, the drive wouldn't accept any discs. As if there was something in there but there is nothing.
some steps to get my cd/dvd drive to accept discs again please?
I have a problem with my Macbook Pro 17 inch...whenever i try to insert a CD the drive wont accept it, also when i press the eject key there is no eject emote that appears on my screen!
