Why do i keep getting the following on my imac 27" when it does not happen on my ipad or macbook air? "The Yahoo! IMAP server “imap.mail.yahoo.com” rejected the password for user " Getting very frustrated with it. I have tried removing the account and repacing and also changing the password. It is not the password entry that is the problem. Any solutions? All software up to date.

I have an older Power PC Mac that runs OS 10.4. Mail does not accept my password on this computer. So I can neither send or receive mail. While my Intel Mac that runs Lion & iCloud accepts the same pw and works fine. What should I do? There is no update for Power PC Mail application. Is this time to discard this older Mac completely?

I just switched to iCloud from MobileMe, and my Mail program now tells me that my password is not correct. I've gone so for as to delete the account and add it again, and it still will not accept the password. I know the password is correct, it works on this site, as well as directly in iCloud, and on my iPhone, it's only the Mail program that it won't work in.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSomething is wrong with my mail client. Even though I am 100% certain that the password is correct (I get mail on my iPhone and when I log onto iCloud site), my mail will not accept the password. I've tried even to delete the account and set it up again, but that doesn't work either.

I have a Dual 2ghz PowerPC G5.I'm positive the password is correct because I enter it all the time in my other mac hardware/applications. I tried deleting the mail account them re-adding it, it still rejects my password. I can't update any of my software (nothing is available). I've tried restarting the computer.Safari still works. All my other apps still work. I selected PowerMac as the product on the pulldown menu, I hope that's the same as PowerPC. My OS is 10.4.11

I've opened a secondary email account and Mail won't accept the password. I can send OK but not receive. But when I check with bigpond online the test emails are both sent and received but only sent through Mail - tried changing the password many times, quitting app, restart, and even delete that mail account and reenter - all to no avail

I have an Intel iMac and loving it, I bought it last December and Apple mail was just perfect. But recently every day I get an error message saying Yahoo has rejected my password and to re-enter, with an option to save in keychain. The password keeps being rejected but if I go into Yahoo mail on Safari then all seems fine and Apple mail works. I also have an iphone and ipad and these are fine, no password issues at all.
I know there has been a Yahoo update recently and I thought it could be that but then surely the iphone/ipad would also be affected. Equally there has been Lion updates and it all started around that time.
I have tried deleting the password in keychain and starting again, no help. I have deleted the email account and stated again
I have my yahoo email account set up in my mac Mail. Recently I keep getting this message saying that Yahoo.ca IMAP server "imap.mail.yahoo.com" rejected the password. My password is all correct and I checked "Remeber this password in my keychain" but it still doesn't work. This message keeps poping out everytime no matter whether Yahoo is trying to receive new emails or not.
I originally thought it was a probelm from Yahoo, and I had emailed them this problem, and they said they had solved this issue from their end even though I kept telling them my password is still not accepted. The strange thing is that I think I could still send and receive emails (although not sure if I am receiving all the emails since the message kept poping out and that my yahoo keeps on going processing mode and then in the end a triangle with exclamation mark just appeared)
Another strange thing is that I have another Yahoo account on my Mail, yet this one never had simialr problem like this before. It is alsways this particular account I have that is having this problem.I tried changing my password, logging in Yahoo from their website making sure the POP setting has checked. Still didn't solve my problem
I have tried going into my keychain to verify and repair my password from Keychain First Aid. But no problem was found.I have also tried deleting my account from Mai Preference and re-added back on, still doesn't work. The first time this problem had happened to this account, I ended up deleting it from Mail and added back on and it seemed to work, however this time nothing seems to be working.

so after my friend got his gmail account hacked I decided it was time for a new password. Updated it in gmail, on my iphone and iPad and no problems. However friggin' Mac Mail refuses to accept the new password. I even wrote it out in Text Edit and pasted it into both the gmail web interface and mac mail. Gmail web interface works just fine but Mac Mail refuses to accept the new password.
Is there any way I can fix this save for deleting my gmail account and recreating it(something I am want to do since I have a metric ton of messages).
Oy, Apple ignoring these tiny bugs is getting quite annoying....
For what its worth I'm on 10.6.4 and everything else is up to date.
Update, now I'm getting "The server returned the error: Web login required. (Failure)"
but it doesn't clear when I log into the web mail....
After I changed my yahoo password I could not receive new mail how do I fix it?

I am getting a recurring probleme with my Mail app: "The IMAP server “imap.gmail.com” rejected the password for user “myaddress@gmail.com”. I cannot send or receive email through Mail.
What seems odd to me is that I can sign into the web version of gmail and see current email, but email received or sent is no longer happy in Mail. I have been using my gmail, set up as an IMAP account in Mail for months now.
Needless to say I've checked, rechecked, and made sure my password and username are both correct.

Every now and then, like just now, when I opened up mail I get a message, : Enter the password for Account MobileMe. The mobile me IMAP server 'mail.me.com rejected the password for user '______' Enter your password again or cancel. Mail normally comes up automatically as the password is stored. But I enter my correct password again and it still rejects it.This has happened before and usually self corrects in a day or so, but still is seriously annoying. My wife's MacBook Pro did this a couple days ago and still wont work. She has a MacBook Pro, I have a MacBook. They both run Snow Leopard and we both switched over to ICloud a while back.

For the past month or so, any time I've tried to go through the process of installing an app that requires Installer to do the work, when it comes time to enter my admin password, nothing happens. The password box pops up, I enter the correct password (as when I enter an incorrect one it does its "incorrect password shake-thing") and, like always, the admin password box disappears. Normally at this point, the installer continues on to install the app, but instead it does absolutely nothing. I can click "Install" again to enter the password, but, again, nothing happens. I've tried changing my password, deleting preference files, doing a disk repair and permissions repair - nothing.

Problem detected lately: When managing units (Airport Extreme) the Main Password to manage the Airport is not longer accepted when entered (asked by) server application. The password is valid and I am able to have full control over the base station when I am using the Airport utility application. Reseting and complete new installation of the Airoprt Extreme does not bring the wished result of being capable to manage the Airport Extreme thru Server Software.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).
