OS X V10.7 Lion :: Why In World Would Apple Make Track Pad LESS Useful In OS Lion
Mar 18, 2012
Why in the world would Apple make the track pad LESS useful in OS Lion? I hate that I can't g back to the top of a web page with a singe swipe. And of course all the other gestures are totally reversed. IMHO, this was not an improvement.
When I switched to ICloud I thought my Apple ID and password would work for Apple store. It turns out they have a different Apple ID at the Apple store with a diferent password that I do not remember. HOw can I make the ICloud Apple ID and password work for all other platforms?
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
I am a small business owner (professional service company) considering the switch to mac from the pc environment.I have multiple professionals in my office and we utilize a server which authorizes different users to log in to different folders. The server also stores our customer database which each of our users logs into in order to work. Our server also provides each of the connected computers in our office with access to the internet. It has a firewall which helps to limit security issues. We have outlook as our mail and the e-mail is stored on our server. How would I replicate all of this (or better yet, improve upon it) in the world of mac?
Just wondering if it's worth getting a machine with 8Gb of RAM over the standard 4Gb for things like video editing, aperture etc. Can most of today's apps even use 8 gigs of memory? I assume the biggest advantage would be for running a virtual windows machine within OSX and things like that.
I am using MacBook Air with OSX Lion. I need to input Chinese characters using the track pad and I have set it up in the Preference > Language.Â
I called out Pages, started the track pad inputing area. I write on the track pad, it can display the stroke I write on the pad and suggested the characters. Then I choose the charater for input. However, nothing was input to the pages. The curser did not move. If I input using the keyboard, it is OK to input what I type. It just did not respond to the track pad.Â
Info: MacBook Air (11-inch Late 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
have a new macbook pro.... the track pad is being weird ... i can't click and drag something, and i can't select anything on drop down menus. I can do these things no problem with my pen and tablet, but not with the track pad. this is inconvenient to say the least.
my track pad suddnly stops working and then after a few hours its starts working again. its like in a week it does not work for some random days for some couple of hours. and then when it starts n its just amazing as if there is no issue. and when it stops working it does things on his own it minimize application, open them and does a lot of things.
My Macbook Air (running lion) is consuming a large amount of bandwidth. Yesterday 20GB of data were uplodaded. I don't know which program(s) is doing it. I'm not doing any of the obvious things that might lead to such usage: I don't use torrents, watch internet movies, etc. Even when I'm doing nothing, or have the browsers closed, I'm uploading between 32 kbs and sometimes 3 mbps. Activity monitor shows total network usage, but it doesn't break it down by program. Is there a way to make activity monitor do that? I've installed little snitch, but no program that it tracks is taking up enough bandwidth to account for the usage I'm seeing.
I'd like to be able to hook a mouse up to Macbook Air and have it scroll properly, without breaking the scroll direction on its trackpad (or my magic pad). In other words, I want to disable "Move content in the direction of finger movement when scrolling" for mice, and enable "Scroll direction: natural" for trackpads. These seem to be the same setting, though, as checking/unchecking one has the same effect on the other.Â
How can I do this, as I'd love to be able to easily switch to a mouse, without having to mentally reverse the direction of the scroll wheel.
Right after OSX update on May 15, 2012, the pairing of my wireless trackpad to the desktop is no longer working. First the bluetooth found my trackpad. After clicking "continue", the box showed: "No trackpad found The pariing attempt was unsuccessful, click "continue" to try again. I've been trying for several times. Still not working!
Just created an imovievideo from iphone4..720p..The imovie editingprogram is super..fast.. easy..and nice designed.PROBLEM when it came to do an DVD .standard disc.In pro version of FCPX i think there is a fast way to do a DVD-disc..NO new IDVD in appstore..Using a brand new imac21 with Lion preinstalled.Perhaps it will work if i download 30 days free FCPX...but whit this very nice and easy imovie..there must be a easy way to burn DVD.Easy if you make a film for your children and theres dvdplayer.
I am from Pakistan and studying masters in korea, I am thinking to purchase a macbook pro. but when i visited the macbook store website i got a shocking difference in price! Macbook pro 13-inch: 2.4ghz core i5 price on apple store is mentioned as $1,199.00.But for the same model with exactly same specs on apple stores' website of korea the price is 155000Won (aprox. $1357.8).why is this price difference in purchasing macbook from korea and other countries? is this because of only korean keyboard prints?  So i am not a korean, and i don't need korean keyboard then is it possible to get the macbook from korea in same price as it is mentioned on website $11909!?
basically my wallpaper image flashes and any windows I have minimized to the Dock expand whenever iTunes changes tracks. It's not a huge problem, but it can be a bit of a pain (there, it just happened again, I had to minize stuff in order to get back to this window).
P.S.: I listed the topic under Lion because it never happened before I upgraded to it.
Apple on Monday released a finalized version of Safari 4, which the company is billing as the "world's astest and most innovative web browser." Available for Mac and Windows PCs and introduced as a beta in February of this year, Safari 4 features the Nitro engine which runs JavaScript up to 4.5 times faster than its predecessor.
"The successful beta release helped us fine tune Safari 4 into an even better, faster version that customers are going to love," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "Safari is enjoyed by 70 million users worldwide and with its blazing fast speed, innovative features and support for modern web standards, it's the best browser on any platform."............
I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch late 2011), that runs Mac OSX 10.7.3, and I was wondering if there was a way to get the bar across the bottom of Finder windows, that says: "7 items selected. 13.25 GB remaining", or something like that.
How can I get the mail app to stop prompting me to set it up when I log in. I have no interest in using the Mail app, and if I could I would delete it (alas it is a required application and I cannot do that). I use google mail and outlook as a client, and I would really just like the Mail app to leave me alone. I have changed all the file associations, and I have checked that mail is not one of the "start on login" apps under my profile.Â
I would liek to make an iso image of OSX Lion but as i seem to recall i downloaded the upgrade from the App Store. Can i do this? i do i need to go back to the last set of physical discs i have an make one from there. If so, how do i create an iso of the OS from those multiple discs?

Ever since installing Lion, my MBP has been very slow and I cannot make any admin changes. In any event where admin privileges are needed, I hit the padlock on the bottom left of the window. It asks for my password. I enter it and it accepts, but the padlock is still locked. . . My username is listed as "Admin" in the users list. I can't add another user because I cant unlock that privilege. I've verified and repaired disk permissions and verified disk with no errors. The installation of Lion was on a clean Hard drive, not an upgrade. Considering going back to SL at this point.Â
I would like to leap to OS X Lion, and have two Macs at OS X v10.5.8. 1. Do I have to purchase OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, and then purchase OS X 10.7 Lion? 2. Do I have to do this twice? i.e. separately for each Mac?

I have an iMac (2008) and a Mac Mini. I heard somewhere that you can connect two macs together and use the processing power of both to make a more powerful machine. Is this true? How do I do it?
Info: iMac (24-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.7.3), and a Mac Mini
I am using Lion on a new MacBook Air, and after migrating my old data from my old MBP, I noticed that Mail no longer makes sounds for new mail or sent mail. I did some research and found something related to IMAP settings, but I use POP, and still don't get the sounds.
