OS X V10.7 Lion :: User Picture Disappears After Shutdown
May 13, 2012
Has anyone noticed a missing User Picture after Shutdown?
I've had the same one for well over a year and then last week I noticed on start up at the User screen the picture was missing.I went into system preferences > users/groups > and pulled down the drp down menu besides the picture square and chose a small avatar picture to use. All seemed good. Shut the Mac down and then restarted again and it had gone again. Tried another picture and same thing. always had a picture from my library and not an Apple system one.
I have two users setup on my late 2011 15" MBP with OSX 10.7.4. Occaissionaly when I utilitze Fast User Switching and switch to another user, the background picture will disappear and revert to the default blue background. I do not know what causes it or triggers it. So far I've fixed it by resetting the background back to the desired picture.

I want to change my user profile picture to a custom picture on my hard disk - but can't seem to figure out how. It only gives me the option to choose from the default pictures ...

I just noticed that my User Account Picture does not appear on my Login Screen in OS X 10.7.4 Lion. It never has and I just noticed on another Screen shot of someone else's login screen that their login picture is showing. I kind of like it. Can anyone tell me how to get it to display there? My computer was originally set to autologin when I first got it but I set it to require name and password.
I create a wi-fi network to use computer to computer. When I shutdown the IMAC the network disappears. When I go to ctreate again all the info is there for the network I created, but the network does not appear. If I name it again I can use it but then again it disappears when IMAC is shutdown. Is there anyway to save it? I have ude the apply button and reclosed the lock, but same results.
When I first turned on my computer, it had me take a user picture for my login in OSX. It's a really good picture of my friends and myself. I was wondering where this picture is located so I can get a bigger version.
My iMac 27 late 2010 does not shut down when shut down in the normal way. I have to shut down with the push button. I have tried disconnecting all the usb connected hardware still no use. Can any body help.I have OS Lion 10.7.3?
I have this photo for my user display picture, and i've got it cropped because I only want part of it as my display picture.I have to keep resetting it all the time, and its beginning to annoy me a lot.I think its everytime I turn my computer off by holding the power button for 5 seconds (I think) for when my computer freezes or something. Please tell me how to stop this happening & why its happening. If you need the info about it then here it is:Processor 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 DuoMemory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MBSoftware Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)13-inch, Mid 2009
I was wondering if anyone can help me locate the original user picture I took when I first started my Macbook Pro.I accidently changed it to a photo i took on photobooth and I can't find it anymore. The old one still appears on ''Messeges" as my picture but is nowhere to be found. I've looked in the Library Cache, User profile pics, etc.
im trying to change my main user picture when i log into my imac. i know the procedure but everytime i go to restart my pc or boot it up its the same old display pic of mine. im using mac lion.
Is there any such thing as a tool or utility that allow a logged in networked admin user to restart/sleep or shut down a server from another terminal or workstation? It'll be kinda useful at times.. I ain't so much bothered about starting a remote system.
i just started using dropbox to sync my files. i tried uploading a 1GB file and it worked. however, while i was uploading it somehow 1.5 GB of RAM or so became used. i checked in activity monitor and it doesn't say what's using so much RAM in the list. nothing has changed in terms of memory usage in activity monitor, but 1.5GB of ram of is still being used.Â
For the last two weeks, when using Safari, the top bar which shows the word Safari, File etc (can't remember what it is called) disappears unless I move my cursor up to it. I have checked Safari preferences and System preferences and can't figure out how to stop it from disappearing. I suspect it is a check box.Â
I have tried to check the "view" option to hide/show and neither solves the problem.Â

since a few weeks, we regularly experience that the sound volume control does not show up in the screen title bar, and we cannot play music in iTunes or in youtube. I don't know if this is since i attached a usb Time machine backup disk or since when i upgraded from 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 The only way out is rebooting and then this works again, The sound volume control is back and i can listen music.Â

My address book flies up above the top of my screen when I open it. It will appear when I hit F3, but then it disappears again when I click on it to open the page. Â
I can move the application to different desktops, where I can see the very bottom of the window, but am unable to use the mouse to drag it down to where it can do me any good.Â
On a frustrating meter, it's probably a five-and-a-half, or six. It's been like this for several weeks, and I probably ought to get this figured out before too much longer.Â
My software all seems to be updated. I've force quit the application, rebooted the machine, and nothing seems to be giving me any satisfaction. Â
For some strange reason when I open Apps or Finder windows within OSX 10.7.4 on my MBP the menu bar at the top of the screen disappears randomly then reappears again. I've attached an image.
I purchased App for MacBook. It is alternative to lock screen.Â
I set password etc followed instructions (no need of lecture me) and it has locked me out of my MacBook and the password I set up does not work...Â
Im just wondering if there is a way to delete this App without having to log in as the only other account on my MacBook is Guest. I can't use my Mac at all with this app as it will not allow me to enter my account
I just made a clean Install, and I cannot reinstall Final Cut X that I purchased while running Snow Leopard. How can I get it back without buying it again ?

I'm having some difficulty sending email from my account due to a mail server issue and it would be relly helpful if I could read the error message that drops down and quickly disappears when I attempt to send a test email. Is there any log that captures this so I can read it?
this is not a matter of Outlook changing the default email application to itself, after an Office installation, the Mail app has completely disappeared from my Mac. Searching from Spotlight -and even from the command line- finds nothing. The app just disappeared. did Office do this? Nothing else changed before or after the installation.
I am getting a pop up error message with a yellow triangle and yellow exclamation point in Safari but it immediately disappears after it appears. This happens so fast that I cannot read the error message. A java applet for my bank's website is not running properly and knowing what the error message is might help solve the problem.

As stated in title, the desktop picture will randomly revert to a picture I had up there months ago, usually when I run the battery all the way down on my unibody MB, but also when I change display settings when i plug into an external monitor.
Do I just need just reset the PRAM or is there something else I'm missing.
BTW, I have searched and I know I only have a few posts...
