View 3 RepliesI own a MacMini Server in my home network with Lion Server installed. I configured the DNS Service with a primary zone, providing nameserver (MacMini) etc. Server Admin tool create also a reverse zone 0.0.0.10-in.addr.arpa (my IP Range is 10.0.0.I own also an Airport Extreme Base Station (4th Gen) acting as DSL Modem, DHCP and NAT and creating 2 Wireless networks (private and public network) and it's correctly set up for internet access... In AEBS settings the DNS Servers are 10.0.0.3 (MacMini) and 8.8.8.8...With these settings everyting works fine but all the devices (other Macs, windows PCs, etc.) cannot ping each other... The only machine they can ping is obviusly the MacMini because in the DNS settings i punt manually a machine (A) record...
My question is: is possible to setup Lion Server to dinamically update DNS records using AEBS DHCP entries and reservations ? If possibile i don't want to add all the record manually and I don't want use the AEBS only as an access point...

The recent software update has caused a problem. The update for Air Port Utility was corrupted and did not download. I have run software update several times since then and nothing has changed. How do I clear out the corrupted file so update can start over? (MBP Lion 10.7.4)

The latest upgrade of AIrport Utility doesn't support my Airport extreme, but the old version 5.6.1 says it doesn't work in Lion. How was I managing my Airport before th 6 update? What do I do now? Will I have to get a new Airport?
I have DSL service. I have an iPod Touch and an iPad 1 that I'm trying to connect. I just upgraded both iDevices to iOS5. I've been having trouble keeping an internet connection live for them, but now I can't even get the wi-fi to connect.

AirPort Express doesn't show up in AirPort Utility 6.0. I haven't updated the AirPort utility on my laptop, and can find it there. 6.0 doesn't even has a scan button... I've done a hard reset of the AirPort Express, still isn't showing up.

The only difference is I am on mains power (with the lid closed) because I use a large external monitor.Anyway long story short, I noticed the Airport update on Apples website after searching:[URL]_MacBook_Prohowever when I try to install it I get this:I have the Macbook Pro 17" Early 2008 model the update lists and I have the problem but it won't install!

AirPort Utility 5.5.1 includes general bug fixes and addresses the following issues:
Not importing all settings when importing a configuration. Not propagating MAC address control lists when using an extended network.
AirPort Extreme Update 2008-003 [2.2MB] is recommended for all Intel-based Macintosh computers running Mac OS 10.5.5 and resolves some issues with AirPort connections when roaming in large WiFi networks.

Had to be sometime after my Airport Extreme or OS updated in the last month. My printer is a Canon Pixma 780. I'm unable to print from either computer now. I've updated printfab, tried uninstalling, reinstalling printer, unplugged printer from my Airport Extreme, restarted computer and printer. I'm at a complete loss.

When trying to restart, the computer wouldn't boot anymore but got stuck on the grey screen w/ grey apple logo, without any error message. As of now, I am planning to boot from my 10.3 Install disk and try to restore the system, hopefully without losing any data.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo last month I kept on getting kicked off of my network. My router is about 15 feet away and my wifes Macbook is 100% fine. I would turn off the Airport and turn it on and nothing. Restarted my Mac and nothing, and just gave up. So I made an appointment at the Apple Store and guess what, it worked 100%. So I came home that day and no problems till now, a month later. I am having the same issues and not sure what to do. I have low signal, and again I am only 15-20 feet away. I am saving up for a Time Machine so I can start backing up my mac, so this way I can take it to Apple and if they need to repair it, I'll have my stuff backed up. I am temped to just buy a hard drive just to get this thing fixed.
I shut off my Macbook yesterday in the morning and started it up when I got home and it was fine for a while.
I just installed the latest Airport Express update. It has closed down my network, and I can't get internet connection. I have plugged in an ethernet cable to send this message. The machine that the airport is connected to is a pre intel mac mini. I am sending this from my imac. I am able to see my neighbours networks on airport, but mine has disappeared, and I have three machines that usually link, but they can't see each other. I opened airport utility (don't know what it is for really, but am just desperate) to no avail.

I'm in the market for a new Express or Extreme. I know Apple just announced an event for next week focusing on Macs. Is there any features that either of these are lacking making them candidates to be updated?
View 16 Replies View RelatedThis morning, Software Update came up and said there was an update for my 2008 MBP, this time something with the CPU or something. Upon restarting, gray screen, fan at high speed, do not interrupt it while doing so etc. This update apparently for older (2008) Macs to be able to use a new type of charger that has come out. Nothing I heard off before? When I did the update, it did come up with that gray screen as advertised, and the progress bar ran for just about one second, then it booted again.
Everything went normal, but upon start I noticed the Airport had wireless turned off. In fact, it says: "Airport: Off". I clicked On, but nothing happened. After reboot, I cannot manage to turn it on, not from the System Preferences screen either. I have now plugged in a network cable straight from the router, since the WiFi does not work, and with the cable attached, no problem. But I want my wireless internet/network back!
I downloaded OS X 10.7.4 update and my entire airport network became dreadfully slow. I've been using my iMac as a basestation and my ibooks could find it easily...not anymore...they can find it but the connection works very slow if not at all..

I clcik on the Apple Icon, (top left hand side of screen), click on SOFTWARE UPDATE, it runs for a split second, then: [URL]after which I check my internet connect to see that it's fine. (And I attempt to run SU with nothing else using the internet). [URL] I've checked the forum and found a few people with the same problem. I've tried deleting PLISTs and using 008.008.008.008 DNS address, [URL], but still cannot get it to work. I still have my old G4 Power running OS 10.5.8 connected to the same modem (Netcomm NB6PLus4w Modem which has 4 ports) as my Mac Mini, and it runs Software Update without any issues. So it's not my internet connection and it's not the Apple server, so it's something about the Mac Mini that's not right.

Late Thursday evening, Apple released firmware updates for the 2009 Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme that resolves issues on the new devices. A parallel update also adds Back to My Mac drive sharing support to the prior generation of the wireless base stations.
The updates for both the new and previous Time Capsule and AirPort Base Station (802.11n) are all designated as firmware 7.4.1. The newest revision that had been available to previous models was 7.3.2, and the new 2009 models shipped with 7.4
The updates can be applied using AirPort Utility, typically located in the Applications/Utilities directory on systems running Mac OS X, but only after downloading the AirPort Utility 5.4.1 released this past Tuesday.
What's new in 7.4.1
A support article on Apple's site details the changes delivered by the firmware 7.4.1 update:
For AirPort Extreme (Early 2009) and Time Capsule (Early 2009) that ship with firmware 7.4, the firmware 7.4.1 update:
Resolves an issue in which a client computer may be disconnected when waking from sleepAddresses an issue in which redirecting SMTP port services may disable IP-layer networkingImproves the reliability of Back to My Mac-based disk sharingIncludes recent AirPort security updates
For AirPort Extreme with 802.11n (Fast Ethernet), AirPort Extreme with 802.11n (Gigabit Ethernet), AirPort Express with 802.11n, and original Time Capsule models, the firmware 7.4.1 update:
Enables remote administration and remote access to compatible USB connected drives via Back to My Mac (except on AirPort Express)Improves reliability when backing up to a Time Capsule via Time MachineIncludes recent AirPort security updates
Once applied, the update adds a MobileMe tap in the Advanced section of the AirPort's configuration (pictured below). After entering an account and password, the base station will need to be restarted.
Also included in the update are a trio of security updates outlined here, mostly pertaining to enhancements to the base station's IPv6 stack.
As was noted by AppleInsider in a previous article, the 7.4.1 firmware update adds the ability to access drives attached to 802.11n AirPort Extremes and Time Capsules over MobileMe, but does not deliver the guest networking and simultanious dual-band features of the just-released models because those features require hardware support.
Software Update ran yesterday and I installed the AirPort Utility update (version 5.5.2), and now my MBP no longer connects to my home network when the SSID broadcast is disabled. When I enable the broadcast the network shows up in the list of available networks and I can connect to it, then I can disable it again and the MBP stays connected. But if it's disabled to begin with it won't connect.
I never had this problem before the update, and no other devices on the network are having any issues. Has anyone else had this problem yet, or know of a fix?
Late 2008 unibody Macbook Pro running 10.6.5, all software is up-to-date except for the latest update to iTunes.
Apple released a time machine/airport update yesterday. Since then it hasn't dropped my Wifi connection to my 2WIRE access point once!
Has anyone had similar results?
New Sase Station update. Fixes bugs with MAC address filtering in extended networks, settings not importing bug.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having an infuriating issue with my Airport Extreme, since updating the firmware it will not let me get to the web site for my gaming group, The Valiant Crusaders. The site is perfectly accessible nationwide and if I remove my AeBS and have my machines directly connect to my cable modem, they can get to that site just fine. It's as if my base station has decided to cut off that website and nothing I do will get around that. I even went and did a hard reset on the base station and renamed it etc but it still will not let me get to this site. I can get to every other site I care about with no issues. As far as I know the firewall in the hardware shouldn't be able to be set to do that.
