Apr 10, 2012Last week my hard drive broke (with Snow Leopard) and I brought my macbook pro to an Apple Store, the HD was totally broken and they couldn't restore any data. They installed a new hard drive with Lion, when I got home I restored my data with Time Machine, but now Safari and VLC aren't responding, Safari opens but that's it and VLC doesn't even opens. Also the CPU of VLC and Webprocess gets to 100 %.

Feb 2, 2012I got my new Office Mac, and I was hoping to install it. It said Firefox and Safari needed to close. Firefox was a snap (good job guys!), but Safari is doing HORRIBLE. It is not forcing to quit at all, and I don't want to restart or shut down (I bet it wouldn't work.) Now, according to THIS issue... I can't install my Mac Office 2011, and THAT on the other hand stinks, because I need it for school projects.

Jun 15, 2010Many extensions on extensions.apple.com cannot be installed.However, extensions that I installed before, no problem, such as AdBlock, Bing, Echofon. Others, will not install, it will be stuck at installing. And Safari may lose response after a while. I initially noticed that if I try to install YouTube5 which I downloaded myself, Safari will immediately lose response.
Tried solutions:
- Reset Safari
- Run OnyX
- Repair disk permissions
- Deleting all the extensions; extensions I installed before will install, others won't
- Deleting Clicktoflash and Glims

Jul 2, 2010I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!

Mar 6, 2009Is this just how the OS works or is there a setting I can configure. I'm used to being able to alt-tab on Windows and open a window and bring it to the front regardless whether it is minimized.
When I command-tab (or do the four finger thing on Macbook) it sort of opens it. The program bar at the top becomes active for that program but the window doesn't come out of minimize.
Seems odd. Am I doing something wrong? Or do I just need to get used to Mac and learn another way to do things?
