I'm looking for a way to restart a native system service automatically if it ever gets turned off, specifically the screen sharing service. We have a shared Mac Mini running Lion, and sometimes the remote users get click-happy and shut off screen sharing in the middle of the night. I'm not sure if AppleScript or a plist is the way to go, or if there's an alternative solution I don't know about.

I'm trying to update my Macbook Pro to the new 10.7.4 I have downloaded the update twice (no interruptions during download) and when i click to restart the computer to install the update, the update dosent install. I keep getting an error message saying the download is corrupted, when the update tries to unpack to install. Â

I ran the 10.7.3 upgrade (via Software Update) to upgrade from 10.7.2 on both my iMac and my MBP. Worked fine on my iMac, but the install on my MBP stuck during "Moving items into place...".Â
After waiting for about an hour I rebooted the MBP and it stuck on the grey Apple screen with the the spinning clock hands (do they have an offiicial name?), Â
I rebooted in Safe Mode and everything looked fine, but with no Internet connection (my iMac had an Internet connection, so no router problems). Â
I rebooted again (normal boot i.e. not in Safe Mode) and downloaded the Combo Updater on to my MPB (Internet access now fine - also 'About this Mac' shows the OS level as 10.7.3). I am now running the Combo Updater on my MBP, but it has once again stuck during "Moving items into place...". It says the remaining install time is about a minute - it has been stuck here for about 15 minutes, with no movement on the Progress Bar.Â
At what point should I give up and reboot? What should I try next? Should I have applied the Combo Updater when booted in Safe Mode?Â

Has anyone else experienced problems with the USB ports on a wired keyboard since you installed the latest Apple system update? After I ran the update, the keyboard USB ports are getting just 100 mA total; they can't even power a simple flash drive anymore.
I searched the Apple forums and noticed several users complaining about the same thing. The update seems to have made the keyboard USB ports absolutely useless.
I'd love to see CNET look into this; and if the underpowered ports are a common issue, I hope enough people complain for Apple to acknowledge the error and fix this in a subsequent update.

I just reinstalled my operating system, and I'm in the process of migrating files from my external drive back to my internal.I'm trying to use iTunes, but it keeps telling me I need QuickTime v7.5.5 or later, and the version I currently have (with no software updates available) is 7.2.1.How can I get the later version of QT so I can continue to use iTunes? But in the mean time while using the mini I'd like to run my 30" dell at native res, and a 24" dell at native res. Would the vid card on the mini handle this? View 13 Replies View RelatedI finally narrow down my computer issue and it is not related to Spotlight or either the Time Machine, it is something else that is crashing and causing the drop of speed. I have enclosed the crash report and the activity monitor to give a better idea of my computer.
My system resources:
- HD with over 300Gb of space
- 8Gb of RAM (most of the time 4Gb RAM free)
I have plenty of computer and resources and it isn't a issue related to hardware but software. There is something in the processing that still going on that I do not know.

I'm selling my macbook pro, going to do a fresh format before that. But my mac install disk comes with 10.5.6
I want to update it to latest 10.5.8, in order to do that I need to log in an account to perform the update but for that the buyer will not experience the leopard first start up music. How can I update it without creating an account so the buyer can feel like getting a first hand on it?
