Intel Mac :: Why Safari Not Loading Homepage (Yahoo) Anymore
Jun 13, 2012Suddenly about 5days ago, Safari suddenly stopped loading my homepage, uk.yahoo.com - which has been my Homepage for years. I thought it was perhaps a Yahoo problem, but apparently not, as Safari loads any other page from my favorites etc without any hitch, meaning its clearly not an ISP problem either. I did find a thread that suggested un-ticking the 'Restore Windows' box in the General section in System Preferences, (not Safari Preferences), but I cant see a General tab in System Preferences? Additionally, I have deleted Safari, and reinstalled it, but problem still exists. I'm running OS X 10.5.8 and Safari version 5.0.6.

Jan 22, 2009I was checking out various proxy servers with Firefox, trying to find a fast, reliable server. After testing one, my homepage [URL] came up as an "Apache Tomcat" page. This keeps happening even if I type [URL], it redirects to [URL], which displays the Apache Tomcat page. It says I have successfully set it up, despite never having even heard of it before. I have used the Terminal to check for recently modified files, and have looked through Firefox's preferences. Little Snitch reports no network connections by Firefox as it loads [URL] and displays the Tomcat page. I can still do google searches from the search bar in Firefox.
Below is a transcript from part of the page. I think that there's a UNIX file on my drive that has been modified somehow, but I haven't found it. If you're seeing this page via a web browser, it means you've setup Tomcat successfully. Congratulations! As you may have guessed by now, this is the default Tomcat home page. It can be found on the local filesystem at: $CATALINA_HOME/webapps/ROOT/index.html
where "$CATALINA_HOME" is the root of the Tomcat installation directory. If you're seeing this page, and you don't think you should be, then you're either a user who has arrived at new installation of Tomcat, or you're an administrator who hasn't got his/her setup quite right. Warning: All working fine the last month until security update 3-18-08 totally wrecked system - cannot boot - recommend cloning to separate disk before attempting. Never had this occur with mac update. Many times with Windows.

Sep 29, 2010Software Update just prompted me with an update for iTunes and a Security Update without thinking about it since they are apple updates I did them. After restarting every single application that utilizes a SSL certificate from Keychain is prompting me saying that the SSL Certificate has an invalid issuer. This includes SSL certificates from Apple themselves ( mobile me, apple.com etc.. ). Anyone else having this issue or is it just my computer being massively screwy?

Oct 23, 2009I went out and got the new Nano 16g and had to install the latest version of itunes to get it to work. No problem, everything was working fine for a couple of days. I tried to browse the itunes store today, but it wouldn't work and a message stating that I need the latest version of Safari to access the itunes store.
I tried to download Safari but it wouldn't work, because apparently, I need the latest security update before I can get Safari to download. I have tried to get the Security to download a few times now and a message stating "Security won't download to your computer". This has become frustrating and I am limited with my mac skills and computer skills in general.
I have the older 10.4.11 core 2 duo osx. I think I am choosing the appropriate software options. (Tiger) I have enough memory left on my computer as well.

Nov 12, 2009I have been having a problem with some websites, various ones. The page starts loading and I see the images load but once the page is done loading all of the images disappear and I get the little broken link icons in their place. I have no problem seeing those sites using Safari. Other sites are not a problem.
I have not done anything to tweak the pipelining and I have made sure that the box is checked to load images automatically with no exceptions. Java is also checked.

Dec 29, 2010After testing this on two different networks, same problem. For instance, I'll try to go to Google.com, works fine. Then I'll go to gmail.com, wont work. Go to drudgereport.com, go back to gmail.com and it works. This is happening with all websites. Sometimes they'll work, sometimes they wont. When they aren't, if I wait a few minutes, they suddenly work again.

Jun 19, 2010i bought a 15 inch mbp 8 months ago and will never look back. however, recently my safari browser has stopped working properly. when i try to load pages they will stop part way or not load at all. i will have to reload the page several times usually, just to see one page. i downloaded firefox to see if this would work better but it has the same issues. now i am at a standstill going back and fourth between the two browsers trying to check my email and face book once a day, which is annoying because of how long this takes, especially when it doesn't work at all. i think my computer may have a virus but i don't know a whole lot about computers

Feb 14, 2009I have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.

Aug 26, 2010I noticed that Safari wouldn't load a web page. So I went to my back up browser, Firefox. Well it loaded just fine. So at this point, I figured that it may be my schools crappy WiFi/lame firewalls or something of the sort. Well now I've been on my home WiFi for a few hours and it still won't connect. I've restarted my computer a few times and even reset Safari. Safari Version 5.0.1 (6533.17.8).

Feb 8, 2009Has anyone else noticed that Safari is painfully slow the last few weeks? Mostly the problems are with gmail and facebook, but all sites are slower than Firefox. With both gmail and facebook, I can login fine, but when I click on something (a mail message, a person, a picture), it times out.
I've tried resetting safari several times to no luck. Firefox works fine. I'm having the same issues on my mac mini as well as my MBP. Both have 4GB Ram.

OS X :: Firefox And Safari Page Loading Slow On Snow Leopard
Sep 9, 2009Since upgrading to Snow Leopard (SL). I have noticed a painfully slow access to sites when using Firefox and Safari. Pages used to load almost instantaneous with Leopard. Now when using either Firefox or Safari on SL, It's taking an average of 8-10 seconds to load a page in my web browser. Feels like I'm on dialup. I have the fastest internet service you can get (Roadrunner Turbo Plus), but for some unknown reason my internet page access is painfully slow. I'm really thinking of using Time Machine to set my Mac back to Leopard, but I really don't want too. I figured I'd wait a few days to see if this problem surfaces, and perhaps a solution can be found.
