OS X V10.7 Lion :: System Preferences Stuck On "Loading ICloud..."

Apr 27, 2012

When I click on the iCloud icon in System Preferences window, "Loading iCloud..." is displayed at the top of the window, and the system basically locks up. The color disc is spinning, and I cannot open other applications, force quit anything, or shutdown the system from the menu. I have to physically punch the button, and then restart the system.  I'm also having a problem with Aperture in which it locks up shortly after it opens, and it is showing "Updating Mobile." I cannot gracefully quit Aperture; I have to Force Quit it from within the Activity Monitor.

OS X :: System Preferences Account Pane Broken / Not Loading

Feb 1, 2006

Alright, this is possibly the strangest bug I've ever encountered on my mac. Right now, in my System Preferences, the Accounts pane won't load. Every other pane, including custom ones, works fine. But if I click on the Accounts pane, it chills there saying "Loading Accounts". If I click it again, it pulls up an empty pane. Also, under the Sharing pane, if I go to SMB sharing and click "configure accounts", nothing happens. I assumed it was permissions, but that didn't fix it. I did a full disk verification too, and that didn't help. The pref pane is there, I have read permission for everything, and the .nibs all open up in Interface Builder fine.

OS X :: System Preferences Window Is Stuck And Unresponsive?

May 5, 2010

My system preferences window is stuck on the left side of my screen. I can only view half of it and can't move it. I also can't select anything on the sys pref window. Please check out the image.

Somehow I opened up Mobile Me and got a separate pop up and I am unable to close or move that as well.

I have OS 10.5.8 and using a Microsoft Natural wireless 6000 mouse.

The solution was to delete the com.apple.dock.plist. I tried that and restarted, but nothing changed.

In case it will be helpful, I have included the chain of events that led to this problem:

- First, my mouse stopped letting me double-click to select a word or any text. I altered the settings and things just got worse.

-I reset it to default set up and restarted. That didn't change anything.

-I opened the system preferences window again and it was unresponsive. I cannot click on anything. When I click on my mouse icon, a menu appears with a "Remove" option.

-I repaired my disk permissions and restarted. No change.

-I opened the sys pref window and moved it. Then the cursor was stuck to it and as I moved the cursor around, the sys pref window moved with it. I couldn't click on anything anymore and had to do a hard restart. When it came back up, I clicked on restart and waited.

-When I opened the sys pref window again it was stuck on the left side of my screen and only half visible. Since then, I haven't been able to click on it to move it or select anything. I have no idea how I was able to open Mobile Me.

-My computer is pretty much unusable until I can solve this. My mouse is so messed up that I can barely use it.

ICloud Won't Let Me Sign Out Of System Preferences

Mar 22, 2012

I've recently installed Lion and moved to iCloud. I have iCal set up with iCloud and it syncs with my iPad.In the iCloud System Prefs Pane, which I'd not looked at before, I have Calendars ticked, but when I click on Sign Out, I get a message telling me: "If you stop using iCloud for Calendars and Reminders, calendars and reminders stored in iCloud will be removed from this Mac."This seems to me to indicate that the message generator can't see my tick next to Calendars. Or is it that one isn't meant to sign out in this Pref Pane.?
