After you have moved all of you music from your pc to iTunes...how do you maintain the playlist. After 12 hours I transferred all of my music, but don't have the playlists preserved that I have on my PC
I did the entire Migrate Assistant process to transfer all my files and what not to my MacBook. Problem is that I did it on separate occasions and now I have several accounts. How can I transfer my files from the other accounts to my primary account and delete the other accounts?
i am trying to transfer one computer (Mac) says to "verify the passcode" and the other says it is waiting for the Mac to connect. It's been thinking 10 minutes. Is that normal?
I have recently bought a Mac Book Pro and I am trying to transfer my files from my old PC to the new Mac. I have put my files onto an external hard drive but when I plug it into my Mac is doesnt show on the desktop?

I have a few user accounts on my PC and I was looking to only transfer one of them to the new mac I plan to purchase in the next few weeks. Is this possible with migration assistant or are other methods necessary?
When i try to migrate my windows account with the Windows Migration Assistan, in OS Lion 10.7 i only see local accounts like Administrator, but not domains account... I run the migration assistant from the domain account that I want to migrate...
I use a Mac book pro. the HDD is partitioned on which on one part i run mac osx Lion and on the other Windows 7. Presently i do my work in windows 99 percent of time. I want to switch entirely to mac. on windows i use MS Office with outook 2010. i want to switch entirely to Mac and thn remove windows from my computer.
the question is how do i move the outlook data (mails(since 20030 contacts(over 4000), calander, notes et all) and all documents, music, videos bookmarks etc to Mac OSX on the partitioned portion of the SAME HDD? i have read many posts that advise how to do it from a PC to Mac but none that help when all the data is on the same HDD. after migration, i want to delete the partition.
I have a Logitech webcam that I want to share between a Mac mini with lion and a windows 7 desktop. I used to be able to share using a Belkin peripheral switch. But I can't use it in lion because it runs on PowerPC. Any ideas for a replacement for it so I don't have to take out the USB cord on the camera every time I want to switch computers?
I need to reinstall my server becouse it got some issues. The problem is there is a active apple mail server on it. And we need to migrate all the mails and accounts to a new 10.7 installed mac. But since there is problems with the settings in the old one (deep down somewhere), we dont want to clone the whole system, just move the mail database and user accounts.
So I can export the OD directory to the new system. That should take care of the accounts. But does the mail db follow the export? Can I just copy the db files to the new system or will they not work with the new accounts?
Info: Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Lion server. running mail, CalDav
I have one application, for example safari, open and running with multiple windows (with or without tabs) spread over several desktops. How can I switch between the windows only via keyboard? CMD+> and CMD+< let me only swicht between windows open on the one desktop I am currently looking at.
If I migrate my W7 machine to my Mac mini, will Windows make me reactivate the license? Is that even a big deal? If I use the ethernet cable option, will I need just the regular ethernet cable or a crossover cable?
I just bought an iMac and need to transfer files from my MacBook Pro. Question though, in the transfer are files permanently removed from the source computer or are the files copied from one computer to another with the source computer retaining the original files?
I've been shopping around for a new Mac Pro but with the likelihood of new models coming out in just a few months, I can't justify spending all of that money now. My new plan is to buy a refurb and then sell it when the new upgrades are out. I have two questions:
1) How well do Macs hold their value? Can I expect to get most of my money back if selling in a few months? 2) How hard is it to migrate all of my files, preferences, etc. from one Mac to another? I wouldn't want to spend ages transferring everything from the refurb to the '09 model.
Apparently I have a bad file in my user profile. I am unable to use some of my Adobe software and they told me I have to create a new User profile. I created a new User account but how do I migrate my files from one user to another? Will I have to enter a password everytime I open a file if I do this?
I bought a new macbook pro and I'm planning the migration of files to the new machine. What is the best method, with the old pro having firewire and the new one having thunderbolt? I have a lot of files, so I want it to be as speedy as possible. Maybe the firewire to thunderbolt adapter?
I am a complete n00b when it comes to OSX just to warn you lol. Im just wondering, if one did a dual boot of windows alongside OSX, is it possible to access those files on the windows partition from OSX and likewise, is it possible to access those files on the OSX partition from wndows? Also, will Time Capsule only back up files from OSX or from across the whole mac? Sorry if this is a stupid question, as I am looking into buying a macbook and was wondering if this is possible.
I have an iMac Intel Core2duo, 10.4.11 and I've just got a white macbook 10.6 which has a firewire slot. I have no idea how to transfer files from my iMac to the mb - can you help, please? I have not yet started the mb, in case I can use the setup assistant to migrate files. so I'd be glad if someone can tell me [a] HOW to transfer files, [b] HOW to transfer iPhoto, [c] HOW to transfer iTunes and if I need to buy a cable, then what to look for.
I upgraded my MBP internal hard drive to a Samsung 1TB and it crashed for the 2nd time (will never buy another Samsung). So this time, I purchased a WD and migrated my system to the new drive sucessfully. I just wanted to see if anyone knew if the migrate function simply copies files or if it copys sectors of the hard drive. Basically I just want to know if Mac Migrate will copy the crap from the Samsung drive that might cause my new WD to act up - or if that's possible?
I've just ordered another drive since the 160gb I allocated to OS X of my primary drive's measly 250gb of space simply isn't enough. I'll likely change my old 750gb data drive into the new primary and use my new drive as a larger data drive. I'm not really fussed about changing the size of my Boot Camp partition - I just really don't want to go through the hasselhof of reinstalling Vista and updating it etc. If it wasn't for the boot camp partition then I'd simply do a direct copy of the stuff on the OS X partition to the new drive. Any suggestions? I'll happily leave it sitting for a while copying stuff over but reinstalling and updating Vista, OS X and all my applications isn't really an option.
I would like to migrate windows7 Professional 32 bits from my existing Parallels desktop 7 VM for Mac where i have already installed Windows 7 and all my applications (of course, to avoid re-installing all applications, including license issues) to Bootcamp on my iMac 27" Quad-Core Intel Core i7 (2012)
I want to transfer my iTunes library from my PC to my MacBook Pro, and then set up my iPod Touch for the MackBook.
Most of the library is on a USB 1 terabyte drive. I am tempted to plug the USB drive into the MacBook and just copy my music directory over. Then make sure the path is set correctly on the MacBook's iTunes.
Is there a better way? I am wondering if this method will cause problems.
After I have transferred the library, I will deactivate my Windows XP pc in iTunes.
When I look at the "About This Mac" -> "More Info..." -> "Storage" it shows my Time Machine and my system Hard Drive. On the system Hard Drive it is showing Backups at 60GB. Where do I find those backup files to remove them? Or what type of files does that include? Is there a tool to delete these files? I have looked at other systems and have not seen any backups by default on the systems so I figure they should be readily accessible to delete.
