Sep 1, 2014I have migrated my emails from old imac to new imac and that worked ok. So i have my email folders now on the new imac in a separate user account.
I now want to move my email folders on the new Mac from the separate user account into my other user account. Is that possible?
I could also solve this by migrating only my email folders from old imac into new imac "other user account" but i am not sure if that is possible.

Sep 26, 2008I've been shopping around for a new Mac Pro but with the likelihood of new models coming out in just a few months, I can't justify spending all of that money now. My new plan is to buy a refurb and then sell it when the new upgrades are out. I have two questions:
1) How well do Macs hold their value? Can I expect to get most of my money back if selling in a few months?
2) How hard is it to migrate all of my files, preferences, etc. from one Mac to another? I wouldn't want to spend ages transferring everything from the refurb to the '09 model.

I created a new User account but how do I migrate my files from one user to another? Will I have to enter a password everytime I open a file if I do this?

May 9, 2012I upgraded my MBP internal hard drive to a Samsung 1TB and it crashed for the 2nd time (will never buy another Samsung). So this time, I purchased a WD and migrated my system to the new drive sucessfully. I just wanted to see if anyone knew if the migrate function simply copies files or if it copys sectors of the hard drive. Basically I just want to know if Mac Migrate will copy the crap from the Samsung drive that might cause my new WD to act up - or if that's possible?

We need to save them to folders, preferably on our external drive. Even if we create a folder on the desktop, we can't figure out how to save the file in that folder directly. It said that process was complete (on both the PC and mac), but there was no data on my computer and no music in my iTunes.
PS I also have an Ethernet cable if that's of any use but I don't know how to use it.

Jun 23, 2012Expecting my new MacBook Pro to arrive, looking for the easiest and fastest way to migrate from several PC's to my Mac. Does it make the most since to use a mac formated external disc and copy files from each pc to that then just connect that to my mac? Or should I use an NTFS formatted hard disc and copy from the pc and import to the mac and reformat the hard disc?
I was considering using the migration assistant but with several machines and location of my pcs, think this will take too much time. I do not need to migrate mail, or profiles. I am migrating iTunes library, quicken data, and movies and pictures, with some documents.
