OS X V10.7 Lion :: Outlook 2011 - Syncing Contacts With Address Book?
Apr 6, 2012my problem is that I have decided to use a workaround to get my Address Book contents into Outlook 2011. I am not concerned with further syncing at this point. I just want to get my addresses into Outlook and hope a better fix is offered at some point. About the only way I could figure out how to do this was to export my Address Book as vCard. I then imported the vCard file into Gmail and then exported that as a CSV file. It contained 550 addresses. I opened it in Excel and it contained 550 rows. Great so far. I then Imported into Outlook 2011 and chose import a text file. When the mapping window opened, it showed over 890 files instead of 550 and the fields were not mapped correctly.

Apr 17, 2012I'm able to create groups just fine in Address book. However when it comes to using them in Mail, they won't work: I type the first couple of characters and Mail offers to auto-complete, so it does know about them. When I hit return at that point *nothing* appears in the address field, it just stays blank.

Apr 21, 2012I updated to Lion on my desktop a few months ago and I swear now I can't read older Microsoft word and Excel documents correctly on this computer using Office 2011. The document opens and you can see all of the data in a preview window (from finder) but once it opens fully the data/words are not there. I have Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro I just purchased and installed the Microsoft Office 2011 and it opened the excel document I was having trouble with fine.I can't find many links for Office for Mac issues.Â

May 20, 2012how to specify which of several email addresses should be used for a member of a group. It starts by selecting the menu item "Edit > Edit Distribution List." From there it explains how to select the desired address for a specific person. All well and good...Â

Try as I might, doing various combinations of name or group selections in the address book window, I cannot seem to get the "Edit Distributuion List" item to be un-greyed. Effectively, the program is not allowing me to do the edit function I need to do on this one group member.Â
Am I missing the secret handshake in this process? Why should it be this hard to do this simple function?Â
Which raises the larger question of "What did Apple do to the Address Book application in general?" This issue is only the tip of my iceberg. The whole app seems to be harder to use than before.Â

Apr 17, 2012Used Migration Assistant to transfer stuff from old MB with Leopard to new MBP with Lion. It transferred Office 2011 which is fine, but one problem, I completely forgot that I used my last of the 3 software registration keys on the old MB. Now I can't open Office 2011 because it keeps asking for a registration key. So I though this would be as good of a time as any to try Pages and that's what I'm doing. Now I want to delete all the MS stuff but I can't find an Uninstall file anywhere in any of the MS files. Even if I do find an Uninstall file will it let me run that file without the software being registered on this computer? Do I need to remove all the MS stuff manually?

Jun 9, 2012has anyone had an issue with office mac 2011 excel and osx lion? i make excel spreadsheets with pdf storyboards on them, and too often the excel file will not reopen. instead i get a corrupt file notice. i choose fix file and the file opens without the pdf files. sounds like a pdf/excel issue to me. it is maddening.

Apr 3, 2012I'm sure there is a work around to this. I recently upgraded to a new iMac and when I insert my Microsoft program CD, it doesn't autorun. You can browse the file set but there isn't an apparent autorun launch that I can figure out. There is an autorun.inf file.

The mac tells me to reinstall my microsoft office but when I do, with the office 2008 disc, it tells me I have MORE RECENT SOFTWARE and to use that. I did it on line and cannot find it again.Â

Nov 22, 2009On a day-to-day basis I run: Adobe PS, INDD, and AI, Microsoft Entourage, Firefox and iTunes. Just recently, after an upgrade to Leopard, I added Things and Simplify Media to the list.The problem that happens before (on Tiger) and now (on Leopard) is command+tab switching stops functioning and Expose hot corners and shortcuts stop working.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a Finder crash because before, on Tiger, I could quit+restart Firefox and everything would be back to normal. Almost as if some shortcut had causes the system to act differently or there was some app dissonance?
But now, with Leopard, nothing I quit will cause these two features to act properly until I do a restart. Both features (command+tab switching and expose) are very necessary for my work flow. I have checked SysPref to make sure keyboard shortcuts are default and Univeral Access to make sure assisted devices is turned off.

Feb 24, 2012Address Book in Lion was working for me initially, but at some point within 10.7.2 and into 10.7.3 it began to malfunction. It shows all the addresses. If I search, it ignores this completely. If I single click on an entry, it does not show the details of that entry, but still displays the first entry details. If I double click the entry, a new windows pops up with the actual details for that entry. I have tried deleting the db and various pref files to no avail. Sync with iCloud is enabled.
