OS X V10.7 Lion :: Invalid Checksum When Burning It To Disc?
May 10, 2012
I've tried downloading OSX Lion from the App Store about 4 times one of them was while it was hard wired directly to the modem using Verizon Fios service. I've tried creating a thumb drive without sucess several times and keep getting a "Restore Failure, invalid argument" error message. The dvd (dvd-r) I was trying to burn I get a "invalid checksum" error message and won't burn also. what I can do to get myself a burned copy of Lion so I can slick my hard drive and start all over?

System Update downloads then fails to install (can't remember exactly what it said but I think something about the file not being valid) - tried twice Did startup with cmd-R and used Disk Utilities to repair permissions (twice), also verified disk. Repair permissions did show:
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired Following Disk Utitlties repair did safe mode boot Tried to use the combo update, but get invalid cheksum - tried three times

I have created a DVD slideshow in iDVD but when I burn it to disc the quality of the images is unacceptable. I have tried different solutions from forums but the results with each thing I try don't resolve the problem.
I have created it in iMovie, Share as a quicktime movie onto my desktop, then moved this into iDVD but the results are still poor. I have also tried burning it through Roxio Toast, and a couple of other disc burning programmes. I have tried it with the images as jpeg's and tiff's on different resolutions, and I have made sure the ken burns effect is off.

I have a new macbook with the latest OS, I'm burning my itunes music folder to a disc. I notice that the folder burned to the disc is slightly larger (in bytes) than the original folder in itunes. It's still the same 4.18GB size, but if you notice the bytes on the burned dvd compared to that on the original itunes folder, the dvd bytes are higher. I even tried burning a second one, after restarting the computer, and the bytes match the original dvd I burned. Why the discrepancy between the original folder size in bytes on my computer and then one I burned onto a disc?

First time burning on a Mac... getting pissed - should be easier than this. I fumbled around for a while and now have a "Burn Folder" folder on my desktop with 3.7 GB of files I need to burn. When I open the file, click "Burn", it tells me to "Insert a Blank Disc to Begin" Okay, seems like I'm making progress... until I insert a blank DVD-R (4.7 GB)... nothing. It ignores the disc.
If I insert the DVD-R separate from the burn folder, I get a window asking me what I want to do, e.g. "Open Disc Utility, etc." none of which seem to be remotely related to burning a DVD... I thought these things were supposed be intuitive.... grrr.... I can't believe I've been I'm spending this much time burning a #$*%ing disc!

I recently burned a couple of .avi and .mpg video files to a dual-layer DVD+R as a data disc (DVD-ROM) using the program "Burn" which is, in essence, a nicer front-end to Mac OS X's burning capabilities.
However, after burning, the video files on the disc are now unplayable. It seems like they are corrupt.
Am I doing something wrong? Do dual-layer discs need special settings to make it work as data discs?

I've been using mac for several years but have never had to burn movies to a disc before. I know that on a PC it is quite simple to burn multiple downloaded movies onto the one disk but I cannot work out how to do it on a mac, as the disk space fills up. I've downloaded "Burn" and "Visualhub" but neither seem to be able to do it.

Hey there! I don't seem to get through this Issue. I was trying to burn content to a Disc and it failed with the error code 0x8002006E, while the process was almost complete. I came across a few forums and nothing helped much to resolve this problem. Is there someone who knows the exact cause? Is this is a known-issue or anything already being addressed by Apple? Or a work-around to get this resolved? because i also read (did not try) that no third-party applications, as an alternative, solved this Issue. Disappointed! Help! Model: iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) OS: Lion OS X 10.7.4 I have the latest software updates and Firmware updates installed.

I just got an OWC Mercury Pro external Bluray burner that came bundled with Roxio Toast 11 Titanium. I'm editing with FCP6 as part of FCS2 and my version of Compressor is 3.0.5 so no "Share to Bluray" template is part of the default options.
The default Compressor options are:
DVCProHD 720p24 (the footage was shot and edited using this codec)
HD DVD H.264 60 minutes
HD uncompressed 8-bit or 10-bit
I've also considered exporting a Quicktime .MOV file and letting Toast do the compressing.

I have 12x3 minute music videos (about 300 mb. each) which I want to burn onto one DVD.
I am unsure of the correct method. I have tried using Toast but it didn't work.
The 12 videos have all been exported using Quicktime conversion and were shot in HDV

I'm having some trouble with my Macbook. It's running on Leopard 10.5.8. I recently tried to partition my hard drive and while doing so it prompted me informing me that there was an 'invalid node structure'. I could then no longer proceed with the partition. I had planned on updating my OS to Snow Leopard. I wanted to partition my internal HD, so I backed up some files on my external HD. I basically wanted my interal HD to run smoothly with a new OS while minimizing the space used. Now I've come across this issue where there is another message being prompted that says, 'invalid sibling links on hard drive'. I found THESE steps on another forum that informed me that this might restore the hard drive back to a readable/functional state but that didn't work either:
(These were the steps I took and nothing happened except another prompt informing me of an 'invalid node structure')
Boot off the OS X CD (reboot, hold C while booting). The installer will load up, go to Utilities in the menu and run Terminal.Type df and look for the drive that has your Mac system mounted---you'll have to unmount this. On my MacBook Pro, it was /dev/disk0s2.Type umount /dev/disk0s2, replacing disk0s2 with whatever disk your OS lives on.Type fsck_hfs -r /dev/disk0s2. If you umounted the wrong thing, it will complain that you can't repair a mounted drive. Go back and umount the right thing and repeat this step.
I then stumbled upon a few different forums mentioning something about Disk Warrior. I was wondering if THAT would resolved this issue. Honestly, I don't really want to spend much money on buying this but I WILL buy a new hard drive if I ABSOLUTELY need to. I was just trying to see if I can troubleshoot this before I decide to throw in the towel and buy a new hard drive or attempt to try out this Disk Warrior thing.

I have gone through the setup of my newly installed lion server software. I setup a server.example.private host name and have turned on file sharing, and VPN. I bought the server software so I can access my host computer from my IPad and a windows based laptop. When I attempt to setup the profile manager I get to the screen in the directory admin setup that asks for the host name and password, etc. The name and host name are already populated with a generic names and the password fields are blank. Whether I leave the generic fields blank and try and enter a new password or change the generic fields and password to something new I get the same error message every time. It says "Computers host name is invalid. The host name does not resolve to any configured address on this comp. ensure the host name is correct. How do I find out what the correct host name is for my computer?

My Java application has begun spewing out the above error message after I upgraded to 10.7.4. Does anyone know what the problem is? My Java platform directory is:
/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Home/
Perhaps Apple changed something that requires that I get a new JDK version? If so, where can I get it - I don't see a new one?

Whenever I open disk utility, I need to choose between 'calculate image checksum (CRC-32)' and ' calculate image checksum (MD-5)' before I can open disk utility. I always click on either one of them because otherwise disk utility won't open. I am wondering what it means. I called the Apple support about it, but the girl on the phone didn't see it on her computer and couldn't find any info about it.

My sister has former eMail addresses which are no longer functional. They are NOT in the Address Book app. Yet one of them always comes up as the default. Yes, her current address is already in the Address Book app. I'd like some way to permanently delete her two non-functional addresses from system memory.
