I have 12x3 minute music videos (about 300 mb. each) which I want to burn onto one DVD.
I am unsure of the correct method. I have tried using Toast but it didn't work.
The 12 videos have all been exported using Quicktime conversion and were shot in HDV
There's an empty Audio_TS folder and a Video_TS folder containing VOB, BUP, and IFO files.I tried to use Quicktime but it said they're not video files... but it can play on the dvd player app.It's a video my grandma wants me to edit..

3 days ago I opened FCE to work on some video, and every single captured clip in any project I open simply appears as a gray screen with no audio or image. All clip info like names, in/out markers, etc is still there. I have not had any problems in the past couple years with the program, and have not made any changes to it or my computer recently.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am clearing out my old IMac 10.4 & trying to make sure I am not losing precious memories but I cant seem to find certain home movies without hitting a problem. Some files end in .MOD or .MOI & comes up as file could not be opened & says its "not a movie file". I cannot see the same titles elsewhere but maybe in different formats which would play, I did notice the first time I uploaded them from my old JVC hard disc camcorder, that a named clip would appear it 2/3 different formats but since that was my first time dealing with movie files, I didn't understand it. Now I cannot see where the other different formats are. I have searched but they are all that will come up. There is even one or two which are .DV but again says could not be opened but this time also says "the end of the file was reached".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a project where I have applied a vignette to multiple clips(70+) in the timeline. When I added the effect I first applied it to a single clip, adjusted some of the parameters until I was happy and then copied and pasted the effect onto all the clips.
I was happy until I came back to the project and didn't like the amount of vignette I used. how to adjust the vignette on all clips at once? If I adjust the vignette on one of the clips, copy and then paste attributes it pastes the whole effect onto the rest of the clips and 'doubles' the effect as it where. I just want to paste the adjustment I have made.

I've been using mac for several years but have never had to burn movies to a disc before. I know that on a PC it is quite simple to burn multiple downloaded movies onto the one disk but I cannot work out how to do it on a mac, as the disk space fills up. I've downloaded "Burn" and "Visualhub" but neither seem to be able to do it.

At present I have to import the full length of the video clip into the event and in so doing, I am unable to 'weed' out unrequired segments. Is editing the video clip in the iPhone itself the only option one has or is there any other way of doing it during the import process itself?

I need to strip the audio off of a few ProRes files with the end product being ProRes files; easy enough to do but don't want to degrade the quality of the original video (via any compression etc). If I just hit File/Share/Master File with the video-without-audio on the timeline, otherwise untouched, will it create an original-quality ProRes file essentially the original video without the audio?

I find I want to attach a particular audio clip to a different video clip (given that without tracks it has to be attached to SOMETHING). Is there a way to move an audio clips affiliation to an alternate video clip? Especially without having to drag it out of place to do so?
Which leads to another question: is there any way to freeze an audio clip in place?

Recently my event clips and timeline clips have turned grey and no video imagery shows unless I pass the cursor over the individual clip. I was close to finishing this project and it plays in the viewer but making adjustments etc seems impossible. FCP is updated and I have restart the computer several times. I have used FCP for 3 years and have never had this problem.

I have been editing compound clips and when I get half way through i notice early clips in the timeline are missing. So if there is clips ABCD in a connected clip, it will be now AC and the other clips are now gone. I've pressed undo until i saw when they were deleted and it seems when i'm selecting clips later in the timeline it selects earlier clips and deletes them with the clips i want to delete. This is causing a major headache as it seems to be random, I can't replicate it on demand, but it happens eventually in ever compound clip I create. I haven't noticed it while editing a project.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently burned a couple of .avi and .mpg video files to a dual-layer DVD+R as a data disc (DVD-ROM) using the program "Burn" which is, in essence, a nicer front-end to Mac OS X's burning capabilities.
However, after burning, the video files on the disc are now unplayable. It seems like they are corrupt.
Am I doing something wrong? Do dual-layer discs need special settings to make it work as data discs?
Can I import clips to FCP X at 180 degrees rather than flipping the clips individually once they are imported? I have about 300 clips all recorded upside down and i am looking for an easy solution.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got an OWC Mercury Pro external Bluray burner that came bundled with Roxio Toast 11 Titanium. I'm editing with FCP6 as part of FCS2 and my version of Compressor is 3.0.5 so no "Share to Bluray" template is part of the default options.
The default Compressor options are:
DVCProHD 720p24 (the footage was shot and edited using this codec)
HD DVD H.264 60 minutes
HD uncompressed 8-bit or 10-bit
I've also considered exporting a Quicktime .MOV file and letting Toast do the compressing.
I have never been able to understand the setting up of scratch discs when working from multiple external HDDs? I am using final cut pro 7 to edit 2 projects at the moment, each of which are on separate external hard drives.
I was under the impression that you set the scratch disc folder on the imac itself and obviously set up the projects to direct to that folder. Is this true? Do ALL fcp projects go to same folder?
What I am also confused about is whether or not I should be setting separate scratch disc folders for each project in each external HDD? I need to take my HDDs home to use on MacBook Pro, I'm currently editing on iMac.
I set up scratch folder in one of the HDDs and finished the project and then set up new project and new scratch disc in other HDD and it appears to keep the setting for both projects!?

Im trying to Capture videos from a sony dvd camcorder. im using a canopus advanced DV converter (ADVC-110 is the model #). quicktime version 10.0 is installed on this computer.
iMac 6.1 using OS X 10.6.2so this is what happens. i will attempt to capture a video from the camcorder to final cut express hd and during the capture, the video will momentarily freeze on the computer, however the playback on the camcorder continues. the result is that the video freezes while the audio continues to capture (and during playback as well). any ideas on what the problem could be?
i dont use this computer for any software/music downloading or anything like that so viruses are pretty much out of the question. if theres any other information you may need let me know.
i've connected my DV camera into my computer, its been recognized by final cut, and will let me import (capture). But when i go to import it doesnt divide the footage into clips as its being captured. Is there a way to modify this? Or does it divide after its done importing? Or not at all?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to capture about 30 hours of DV tapes from my camcorder using Final Cut Express on my new iMac and was hoping to find the optimum configuration for doing so.
I'm using the Firewire port to connect to the camcorder. So then the question is: which hard disk to use for the capture scratch? Since the iMac has only one Firewire port, and that's used for the camcorder, the only choices are the internal Serial ATA 7200 rpm drive and an external drive connected via USB 2.0.
I wanted to avoid using the internal drive because it's the system drive and especially to avoid the significant internal heat build-up, but when I connect a 7200 rpm Seagate FreeAgent disk via USB, I'm consistently getting dropped frames.
So I've resorted to using the internal drive for now, and when I'm done, I may copy/move them off to the external drive, but I still would prefer to capture directly to the external drive (without the dropped frames though).
I need to edit together some video footage. I was going to digitize the footage on a PC (using adobe premiere) then edit it with Final Cut Express. I haven't purchased Final Cut Express yet, I'll only purchase it if I know it will work with footage digitized from a PC, does anyone here know if it's possible to use or import windows footage in to FCE? It will be saved as DV Avi files (I guess).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up my sequence so it is DV PAL 1024 x 576 and I can't seem to find the option. My sequence currently says it is 720 x 576.
I can import clips as 1024 x 576 but when i put them in the sequence it cuts the top and bottom out and when i tried to scale them in the sequence window it wouldn't let me but in the source window I can see the edges.
I need to transfer video from my iPhone 5s to my Macbook Air so I can edit with Final Cut Express. I tried to connect the phone to the Macbook...Iphoto sees the iPhone as an external device, but I can't transfer the files.

When I sync one audio file with one video file the video file is always placed in the primary storyline and the audio file is always placed under it. And the new syncronised clip is named afte the video file.
when I sync multiple audio files to one video file. It seems to be random what file endsup in the primary storyline of the new compound clip, most of the time is seems to be one of the audio files. This is troublesom as the syncing acuracy is then limited to the frame as the smallest incrament of adgustment. Also, it menas I have to manualy change the names of my now syncronised clips as the names are not consistant making sorting dificult. (This all results in a lot of time spent fixing this behavoir and realy dampens the advantages of the sync feature.)
the video should not be the primary track in a new syncrosnised compound clip and I can't find any link between my behavoir and the resulting choise of which tile is the primary sortyline track.

Is there any way to synchronize clips from the timeline? I understand that there is a way to synchronize from the Project Library but it makes more sense for me to sync from the timeline. If there just isn't a way to sync from timeline, is there a way to put all the clips from the timeline into the Project Library so I can do it there?

I really would like to get the cheaper, lighter, smaller, more portable 13" if at all possible. However, I need it to smoothly run Final Cut Express (I do some video editing for work) and Logic Express (I'm a full time musician). I travel a lot with my computer and my current 15" 2.16GHZ MBP has always been a bit bulky and heavy, and lags a bit when using Final Cut.
Will I get smooth performance running FCE and LE with the 13", and will it be a capable computer (keep up with updated software) for the next 4 years or so? I'd probably max out the RAM and maybe get a faster processor if I was to settle on the 13". If not, I'm looking at having to get the 15", any suggestions on which 15" model would be the best for me in terms of what I need it for? Would I be set with a lower end 15"?
