I can download MS Office update (a critical one), but it does not install, it shows the download on Terminal, which I don't begin to understand. Where do I go from here?

Installed MSOffice on my MBP with SL already installed. Office immediately wants to be updated with a "critical update" which is 200+ MB. Nearing the end of the update I get a message that says the update had a technical error, and it then shuts down. After this nothing in Office works.
Then I tried to post a message on MS's Mactopia forum and it won't let me log in. So I can't post, and I can't create a new account.I dragged the corrupted Office to the trash (their uninstall program wouldn't work either). Reinstalled Office and everything works. But it's not updated.
Ready to install Office 2011 for Mac. Currently we are running Office 2008 for Mac.
What is the best way to eliminate Office 2008 and to ensure a clean Office 2011 install?
For most Mac programs, I would normally drag the application folder to the trash, and then do a library search for some entries related to the program. Will this work for Office 2008 to Office 2011? I ask because the M$ installers seem to more than simply add the app to your app folder and update the libraries - and don't get me started on the horrors of the Windoze registry errors.

I recently purchased Lion and was excited to install from the app store. Purchased and it appears to be downloading but stops about 3/4 of the way through and I get an "NSPortTimeoutException" error. I tried downloading a simple free app and same situation. I ran disk utility and hard drive is fine. I had no issues with running software update until recently. I thought this may be the problem so I ran software update again. I gives details regarding several updates. When I attempt to install the updates, I immediately get a prompt to restart my computer. I run software update again and the same list of updates come up. The updates are not being downloaded or installed. My Internet connection is fast and reliable.Â

I installed the latest update 10.7.4. After the nice progress bar finished, I just get a nice Apple logo and a spinning wheel of death. Rebooting gives me a new progress bar and a new spinning wheel of death. OPTION-start does not really help, since there is no DVD drive on the MacBook Air Core2 to reboot from.Â

I installed 10.7.4 update and now my screen goes black. It is quiet random at times, but mostly goes black after a few seconds from wakeup. Pressing the space-bar restores the screen, then sometimes it goes black again almost immediately.

I'm wondering if I need to wait until os x Lion is installed before I install this update? Perhaps it will automatically via "software update" after Lion is installed. It looks like the fix is pertains to osx Lion functionality, so maybe it would've already been downloaded via software update if Lion was installed as opposed to snow leopard which is what I have currently.The article says " If you are unsure whether your computer needs a particular update, simply download and open the update installer. The installer will alert you if the firmware update is already installed or not needed." Which update installer are they referring to and where can I get it? I thought it'd be better to update the firmware prior to installing the os, but maybe that's just an old habit I picked upnwhile using windows.

Whether through the App Store or the Apple download page, it starts to download, gets a certain way through, and then just stops. In the App Store, after awhile I get a message that Software Update can't connect to the update server. On the Apple.com download page, it just stops downloading. I don't think it's our internet connection, because the update worked just fine for our other iMac (which is older than the one I'm having trouble with).

I checked on the printer and scanner page that Lion supports my old Epson Perfection 2450 scanner. [URL]. Lion cannot seem to recognize my scanner, I have tried everything. If I change the ID to mine and use my password I get 2 messages:Â "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)" Click OK and 2nd message: "Unknown Error"Â Â iTunes does not exhibit this, and normal sign in to App Store shows correct ID, only the Download Authentication does this. I updated to Lion on my desktop a few months ago and I swear now I can't read older Microsoft word and Excel documents correctly on this computer using Office 2011. The document opens and you can see all of the data in a preview window (from finder) but once it opens fully the data/words are not there. I have Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro I just purchased and installed the Microsoft Office 2011 and it opened the excel document I was having trouble with fine.I can't find many links for Office for Mac issues.Â

Recently just bought a macpro and my roommate had a copy of office. I installed it, but it reached the max capacity of installations already so I uninstalled it and bought a new copy and new product key. Everything works great, but when I am on the same network as my roommate and try to open up a MS application, it tells me that I have reached the max capacity for installations under my roommates product key. The installation process does not ask to me to input my new product key so I am on why it is telling me I am still on his and what I need to do next.
