Mac Pro :: How Long Should It Take To Download OS X Lion

Jun 22, 2012

I realized that the reason I couldn't get iCloud up and running on my MacBook Pro is because I hadn't upgraded to OS X Lion.  So I purchased the new version in the App Store and started the download.  By the next morning it was still downloading. And when I got home from work today, still downloading.

OS X :: Why Is It Taking So Long To Download A Movie

Sep 20, 2009

I had codes for a movie to get from the itunes store. I started downloading them yesterday for 1 movie and the extras to that movie and it needed 20+ hrs for it to finish. Is that normal? I got 7 hrs to go with one download completed. I have a macbook pro if that matters.

OS X :: Zip Files Taking Long To Download On MacBook Pro

Feb 2, 2010

I'm at a university and I've had a MacBook Pro for about a year now. The OS is Mac OS X 10.5.8. The processor is 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. The Memory is 4 GB DDR2. When I'm at the University we use a secure wireless network. When I option click on the AirPort icon, I get the following readings:

0:26:cb:82:8d:80
Channel: 11
RSSI: -68
Transmit Rate: 130

Because it's a university-wide system, I have no idea what the router information is. When I asked our IT staff about it - a group of part-time college students - they just shrug and tell me everything is working. I can download movie files in an instant. Zip files, even the most basic ones, take about half an hour. This is true even when the movie and the zip file is on the same website. A movie file, six or eight times the size of the zip, downloads much faster. I've read through this forum and others. I followed this suggestion: I deleted my AirPort setting and reinstalled it under "wireless". This did not seem to change anything.

MacBook :: Taking Too Long To Download YouTube Videos

Apr 8, 2012

I have noticed that it is taking too long to download YouTube videos. I have tried a few things: emptied cache, reset Safari, downloaded OnyX and cleaned everything up I could. I also reset my wireless router, but those have not worked. I have also updated Adobe FlashPlayer, Flip4Mac, and checked for new updates from Apple. With all of that, nothing has seemed to work. Not sure what to do next.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Won't Download - Software May Have Been Tampered With Or Corrupted During Download?

Apr 12, 2012

Says the software may have been tampered with or corrupted during download.  I am NOT some computer hack, just a regular guy who bought a simple product to download and it doesn't work.  Total BS and waste of my time.  I'm not interested in saving my download to an ext HD, or partitioning my HD, or some other funky work-around.  I want to know why this software will not load straight away as advertised? I have S/L, v 10.6.8 and the required RAM and disc space.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Apps Quit After Long Sleep?

Jun 22, 2012

Typically, a short sleep does not affect the apps I have running.  So if I step away from the machine and it goes to sleep, when I wake the machine in a half-hour or so, the various app windows are still there and I can keep working.  I use Mission Control to keep three desktops: one for Mail, one for Safari and one for general use.  When the machine goes to sleep at night, Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner do their backups (around 3:00 am).  Then when I wake the machine in the morning, there are no running apps.  Mail and Safari seem to have quit and those Mission Control desktops are empty. how I can keep those apps running?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: MacBook Air Not Reconnecting To Wireless After Long Sleep

Mar 3, 2012

First off, apologies if this has been addressed in a previous post; went through a few pages and saw nothing that helped. I have been having problems with my i5 Thunderbolt 11" MacBook Air - running Lion 10.7.3 - reconnecting to my home network, which is listed as a Prefered Network, after being in sleep mode; especially after a long sleep, say overnight.

I know it's not my network because my 2.8 Core 2 Duo 15" MBP - running 10.6.8 - never has a problems reconnecting. I see other posts refering to a WiFi Update for other machines, but not the Air. And this was purchased with Lion, so while a re-install might solve the issue - again something I saw suggested - I would rather avoid the hassle.

I've checked with the "Apple people" at Best Buy - the closest thing I have to an Apple Store here in South Texas - and they say the recent update should have fixed the problem.   [URL]..

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Restarting Computer Takes A Long Time?

Jun 23, 2012

My computer crashed last night. When I started it back up, the permissions on one of my internal drives in my Mac Pro that I store data on had changed. This caused some problems when trying to open applications with files stored on that volume (i.e. my Adobe Lightroom catalog). I fixed these issues, and then restarted my Mac. When I did, I saw this:

I've since restarted my computer a few times, and it's doing this every time.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: My MBP Takes A Long Time To Find Network Printer

May 9, 2012

I am new to Macs. I recently setup a router (D-Link 655) and attached my Lexmark E260dn printer to it using a static IP address 192.168.0.100. I added a printer to my MBP but when I print something it seems to take an unusually long time to find the printer. The printer dialog says "looking for printer" until it actually starts to print. I added the same printere to my aging Windows XP system using the install CD and it works as you would expect. Files begin printing immediately. What might I be doing wrong from the MBP?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Java Based Applications Taking Long Time To Load

Mar 27, 2012

For quite a while, any Java based applications on my Mac have been taking a long time to launch. When I start them, the icon just bounces on the dock for about 2 minutes and then once it stops I force quit it, start it again and it loads fine. I have the same problem with both Minecraft and Angry IP Scanner so I'm near certain that it is not application specific. All other applications load almost instantly and there is plenty of memory available (8GB installed) for them to launch. Just for reference: all of the updates available on Software Update are installed as well.
