I'm trying to install Lion and keep getting a message from the app store saying it requires 2GB for install and that I don't have enough - however, I have over 110GB available! So what gives? My Mac info says I have 1GB RAM (not 2GB)...I'm gathering from another post this is the issue. Is that correct?

Got a message that my Time Machine was low on space. What is the best way to take care of this? New to MAC. I assume I would want the initial backup to always stay in place so I could go back to original? Is there a way to delete one time slot or even maybe a week or month? IMac Quad.

Whenever I try to drag files to it, I get an error message saying there is not enough free space. There is nothing on the drive. I tried reformatting with different formats and it still does not work.

I'm a new bird to use Mac OS. This is my 1st Mac.
Initially I'm very satisfy with my Macbook performance, fast response. But after some time, I notice it running is a very very slow operation, even worst that my Samsung laptop.
I was install some software, like OnlyX, CleanMyMac, MacScan 2, MacTuneUp, SpeedTools Utilities Pro. I hope this things can give back my speed, but it doesn't sound that way.
Sometimes, the system it show a message, the content of the message is saying that, my startup disk is low disk space. So, I immediately using CleanMyMac to uninstall some software, finally it able to recovery over 7G. But the system is still the same, running at very slow respond. Especially when I open the Google Chrome (last time very fast), it take about 1 min to loading! Sometimes the message regarding the "startup disk is low disk space" is still popup.
When I open the Finder, I notice the disk space at "Macintosh HD" and "user" is ZERO byte (but sometime it could be >1G but sometime is lesses).

When I hit Reply in Mail and start typing, my message obviously appears on the first line. The annoyance is that the message I'm replying to is on the second line when I want there to be at least a line's space between my message and theirs.So I end up having to hit return and then cursor up every time just to put that space in myself. Is there a way of having this there automatically?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using the Mail (5.2) app in OS 10.7. I have my Inbox sorted by decending date, i.e. newest mail at the top. When I delete a message, Mail currently selects the message above, i.e. the one that had arrived after the deleted one chronologically. Since I work through my emails from newest to latest (usually), I will already have seen the newer mesage. What I want to see is the next message on the list, i.e. the next one, which arrive before the deleted one. My question there is: How can I advance to the previous message rather than the next one (chronologically) after deleting a message?

I purchased a Macbook pro with a damaged screen for very cheap from the IT guy at my work. When I got the computer all of his information was all over it. I don't have much prior experience with a Mac, I've used a PC my whole life, but I'm interested in video production and editing and I love the Final Cut Pro interface so I've wanted a Mac for a long time. I have the Macbook hooked up to an external monitor and external keyboard and mightymouse.
I decided to get rid of all of his junk so I put the OS X disk in the drive that he gave me and it came to a screen asking me to select a langauge, I selected english and then the message came up "cannot install mac os x on this computer". It then gave me the option to click "ok" or "restart"... I clicked OK and it took me to the OS X disk utilities. I used the drive utility to (atleast I think) wipe the drive, because I figured that was the reason. I wiped the drive using the "Mac os external journaled" setting and about an hour later it finished. I rebooted the computer and the same thing happen, selected langauge and got the same "cannot be installed" message.
I read somewhere tha it could be the after market RAM in the computer. I opened it up and it does look like different RAM has replaced the original 2gigs that were in there bringing it up to four. I don't know if theres a way around this, or even what brand the original RAM would have been. The brand name on the RAM in it now starts with an "A", but I'm an idiot and can't remember the full name.At this point I'm just stuck and was wondering if anyone had any ideas.Please pardon my "noob" status with MAC's - I'm not one of those PC users that hates Mac users, I'm "pro choice" when it comes to computing.
With each fresh install, my hard drive space shrinks. I am using my first Mac and I do not know if this is common nature or if something is wrong.

I have a Macbook (from 2007) running Tiger OS X 10.4.11. I am trying to install BootCamp onto the computer, but Tiger did not come with Boot Camp installed. Because of this I had to download Boot Camp 1.3 Beta. This is old, and has expired, but I changed the system date to be 2006 and this has made it work. When I am partitioning the disk, this message comes up: Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again. I have already Backed Up and the computer is already formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), but this message still comes up. Disk Utility has Greyed out the Erase section for Macintosh HD so I cant re-format it.

I tried using the guide (the sticky at the top) to re-install OSX on my MBA 64Gb to save space, but I don't have the option to take off a lot of the stuff I don't need.
For example, I don't see an option to not install Garageband, or the Printer Divers. Anyone else have this problem with the new MBAs? I get the option to not install Additional languages, but that only saves me 1.22GB.
Can someone tell me how I can uncheck some of the of the other stuff that the guide shows here:

I tried installing Sims 3 on my MBP but for some reason it stops at 569 out of 600 files so I force quitted and tried again and got the same results and force quitted subsequently too. I did that about 4 times. Sims 3 would put about 6 GB on your HD and I found out afterwards I had about 24 GB missing after that attempted installs. How can I remove that 24 GB?
Running Snow Leopard btw.

My ideal would be to start from scrach - although I want to keep my itunes and iphotos files as well as my documents. Is there a way to reload back to factory settings then add selected programs and folders from timemachine? I am in the process of timemachine backing up everything now.Â

Ok so after going through 400 issues on the install I now am succesful. I used 32GB Partition. 12GB = Windows folder. Logically I should have almost 20GB left. But no! I have 6.89GB left! Donde esta 20 GIGS? My programs folder has only A few hundred MB in it. I have to get this space back or I know I have to go threw the whole parition/install/configure process again.

I had to do an erase and install on it because of an issue that came up while using the migrant assistant. So, after doing the erase/install it says that I only have 216 gb of space left? And thats without the applications CD that I have to put in which will be about 4 gb. I believe when I first turned the computer on before doing the erase/install it had about 235?

So I'm wondering, assuming I only need the OS install and the third-party application takes up minimal space, and I will not be installing anything other than whatever comes with the truckload of windows updates, what is the suggested partition size for Win7 (x64)?
Also, is there anything special I need to do (TRIM?) regarding my SSD?
I can't install Java update, not via 'software update', nor via download from Apple support site. Always get error message at 'writing scripts', even with the camera update. Same thing happens when trying to re-install Adobe flash-player, which I had uninstalled after virus threat. Seems I can't install anything anymore.
