OS X V10.7 Lion :: Disc Not Getting Repaired / Verified

After 10.7.4, now disc wont repair / verify.

I tried burning a dvd and it said that it couldn't be verified and ejected the disc. Now the computer won't recognize any disc that I try to insert - it just ejects it.Â
Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I've tried six times to burn 290 photos, exported from iPhoto, to a RW DVD. The pictures export OK, the transfer to the DVD seems to go OK but it's when the disc is being verified that the problem occurs. It gets to somewhere around 25% verified then returns the message below and ejects the disc.
I only seem to have two burn settings:Â Max (2.4x) and 2.4x - I've tried both and failed.
As a test, I sent a mere 10 photos to a disc and that worked. Then I tried 100 to a new disc and it failed again. But the discs' capacity is 4.6 Gb.
In the past I've successfully burned several hundred photos onto many discs from the same manufacturer.
I'm not sure what's going on. Is it possible that the disc burner on my iMac is broken.

I've repaired my permissions via OS restore disc...and Drive Genius...and whenever I repair...I never get a "clean" repair log? Any ideas>>
View 1 Replies View RelatedI run "repair pemissions" - it says it has repaired seven items. Without doing anything else, I immediately repeat the repair - with the same result.
I reboot and run "verify permissions" - same seven items are "unrepaired". Can anyone tell me what exactly "repair permissions does"? I'm running OS X 10.7.3 on a 2.16 GHz core 2 iMac
The disc utility says "My Passport" could not be repaired.

I have a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion. Since I have gotten it, I've used Software Update without experiencing any problems - until now. Now, whenever I try to download/install updates, I get an error message saying "The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs." What is going on, and how can I fix this?

I just bought my MacBook Pro and installed the updates... however, when I try to update my iTunes (since it says version 10.6.3 is available) but when it's almost done I get a message stating it can't be installed because the "update cannot be verified". How do I upgrade my MacBook to the latest iTunes?

I'm running a MacPro 10.6.8.Â
When I did the normal software update, it installed the Java update and one other, but had an issue with iTunes 10.6.3.Â
It says 'The update iTunes cannot be installed - the update cannot be verified'Â down at the bottom I see - iTunes partially downloaded 22%Â
I've rebooted and re-run software update several times, exact same issue, it won't try to download it. How do I clear out the partially downloade file and fix this?Â

i purchased omnigraffle for my mac pro several months ago. i just recently purchased a macbook pro and would like to have access to that app.Â
when i recently copied omnigraffle from the mac pro to my laptop, i get the dialogue to use licensed, unlicensed, or purchase.Â
then, went to the app store/purchases and the store wouldn't verify my license. i deleted the app as a possible solution to install through the app store. now, i'm getting the response: 'the product distribution file could not be verified'Â

I am attempting to update to the lastest version of iTunes and receive the following error message: "The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs." Every subsequent time that Software Update runs it restarts the download from where it was interrupted, and gives the same error prior to completion. It seems obvious to me that the partial file I have on the computer is where the corruption lies, and I would like to delete it and start the update from the beginning. The question is, where is the partial file stored, and what is it called?

I'm using a unibody MBP 15" that I had for about 2 years. After being awakened from sleep mode, the hard drive started to "click" for about 3 mins straight (I was on XP at the time, although that's probably irrelevant). I was so convinced that my hard drive was about to die, so I backed up my data. Then I ran a "repair disk" on disk utility to see what's up. There was something about "missing thread record" and "invalid volume file count," but eventually it was repaired.
It now says the drive is fine. So my question is, should I still expect the drive to fail on me pretty soon? I know what I heard, and it was pretty bad. It seemed like a hardware problem that can't simply be fixed by running a program. At the same time, I'm a bit puzzled by the SMART status saying the drive was verified. Is it SMART that unreliable?

It is impossible to purchase Ultra Ram Disk from the App Store. A pop-up window appears saying, "We could not complete your purchase. The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."
View 2 Replies View Related"the identity of xxx cannot be verified" comes up constantly. I keep selecting trust always but 10 minutes later it's back again. My Macbook Pro (2010) hangs up at the grey startup screen. The icon keeps spinning. I believe this may be because the laptop ran out of power during critical software updates. I have been able to reach disk utility by starting up with the original installation cd and holding 'c'. When I verify the disk, I get an error:Â
"The volume could not be verified completely.
Error: The disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk."Â
When I click repair disk, I get the following message:Â
"Verify and Repair volume "disk0s2"
Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume
Invalid node structure
The volume could not be verified completely.
Volume repair complete.
Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required.
Error: Disk Utility can't repair this disk.. disk, and restore your backed-up files."Â
My hard drive isn't fully backed up and I would like to retrieve as many files as possible before reformatting the hard drive.Â
I have heard of being able to access the hard drive through other means (connecting the drive to another computer and/or another external) and being able to salvage files. Should I get Diskwarrior?Â

My old iMac G4 (running OS 10.4) has been running sluggishly with sporadic freezes & "spinning pizzas" for several months. I launched Disk Utility which displayed the following message "SMART: failing". I attempted to restart the iMac but it would freeze immediately after the "gong". I was, however, able to restart from the install CD. I attempted to run Repair Permissions which froze. I ran Repair Disk which reported that "volume cannot be repaired because of an error". I restarted from the Disk Warrior CD. The hardware test indicated that "the built-in SMART indicated everything is normal".Is this all indicative of an internal drive that is behaving unpredictably & about to die?
