have downloaded soundfiles ending in flac.fla have tried opening with Toast but get a window saying the file could not be added because it is in n unsupported format.
Have also downloaded files ending in .fla which plays through VLC but again cannot open in iTunes or Toast.
I had a quick question. I have a DVD audio disk that was "imaged", a .iso file. When I open it in OSX, it mounts the image as a drive and I can access the files inside. Using VLC I can play the .VOB audio files.I would like to convert the files to either FLAC or MP3 so I can archive them on my computer and also burn them to CD-R as I can't play the DVD-A outside my computer. So I was curious were there are programs/freeware to convert these files.
K...So I downloaded XLD to convert my FLAC files to Apple Lossless...But for some reason it is not transferring the whole album. Does anyone have any ideas on why this would be happening?
I have an uncompressed FLAC audio file that I want to add album art and lyrics to in iTunes. But when I go to get info, the album art and lyrics tab is gray and it won't let me click on it. I then tried to change the genre of the audio file. When I change it and then replay the song, the genre changes to it's original setting? How do I change this? I'm using a mac.
I just purchased my 2.66 15" uMBP today and it's been a few months since I've owned a Mac and I forgot all of the old applications I had on it. I've currently downloaded Firefox and VLC but are there other apps that you can't simply do without? Also, is there a Mac application that can play FLAC music files?
Look at this picture[URL]the upper case, there is a black covering on the speaker grills. Is that a covering under the speaker grills to prevent liquid/small objects from getting in? I spilled some thick liquid (evaporated milk) on it and scared that some got it but would be more at ease if there was that black covering. I have applecare so can i get them to check it out?
My rev. A MBA has been having this little issue in the picture for a couple of days now. Most of the time at the top, and sometimes covering the left side. It does it on both my cinema display and the built in.
I recently received my CTO MacBook Pro this afternoon, and I was wondering if Apple has applied an adhesive clear plastic sheet over the new MacBook Pro's display intended to be peeled off. Mine looks as though there may be one to peel off, but I want to make sure before putting too much effort into trying to get it off... Anyone else peel one of these of their new MacBook Pro?
My 2008 Penryn White Macbook siplays vertical lines and or vertical grey/black bars on 60% of the display. This happens from when it is powered on until and including when you arrive at desktop. The space the lines occupy does not increase or shrink, they have covered the area from the moment the problem arose.
it is not the common line issue that a Tiger update solved since this Macbook came with Leopard pre-installed. The lines are still there with the hard drive removed and they are still there when I booted a live Ubuntu CD, so I have ruled out software being the cause. Also I have ruled out inverter because I would not be getting any backlighting.
So....
To me that leaves:
-The LCD display panel itself (although there is no physical damage and it has never been dropped)
-The display data cable that connects LCD to the logic board
I am just trying to cover a few scratches that bother me a lot. And before you all play the moral card on me I do not intend to commit fraud or anything just something to make me feel better about scratches I didn't cause. So what type of paint should i use?
Just got my Macbook Pro a few weeks ago.... so I am new to this world. I was wondering if there is a free program or an easy way to convert Flac files to MP3's for my iPod or iPhone?
I need to convert some lossless .flac files to .MP3 for use in iTunes. The .flac files are of lossless quality obviously and well over 1,000 kbps.
I've searched around and read that XLD is the best app for this. Great!
But, when I use it, the output file is a .wav (I want .MP3, how do I do this) and still encoded at well over 1,000 kbps. How do I make it like 256 kbps and .MP3?
I also have a $10,000+ stereo system, using a Linn Digital Streamer. My entire music collection is in FLAC, much of it in 24-bit, 192khz. I'd love to buy the new MacBook Pro and use iTunes to manage this collection (as FLAC is the accepted standard for downloadable hi-res music). Unfortunately there STILL isn't FLAC support in iTunes. Looks like I'll have to purchase a Dell XPS instead.
I have fluke to convert flac files to play in itunes. But since the new itunes updates I haven't been able to get them to play like audio tracks. For whatever reason, as soon as I click one to play it pulls up the video player although the video screen remains blank. Fluke worked on older itunes versions, is there a new issue I don't know? Anyway to fix?
I dragged a folder containing about 13 sub folders of complete albums into iTunes before I realized it was all flac and I can not find it anywhere on my Mac so I can convert it or use Fluke to allow iTunes to play flac. Anyone know what I can do to find it, because I cant find it using the search feature?
Pretty much my entire music library is stored in FLAC format, this is something that itunes does not support, so does anybody know of a program like itunes that will file and move around my FLAC files for me.At the moment I am playing them through VLC, but that isn't too practical.
I am using the pair with an early 2008 Mac Pro octo 2.8. Previous card was a 8800 GT, and previous monitor was a dell 2405WFP. No issue there (other than the 8800's fan noise). With the new setup, I occasionally get a whole screen flicker for a split second, and just now when I woke the display from sleep I got multicolored snow covering the entire screen, like this:
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo...eat=directlink (iphone photo, all I had handy)
Has anyone seen this with either the EVGA card pushing some other dual-link 30" display, or the 3007wfp-hc driven by some other card? I don't really have an easy way to test this myself, as it is pretty intermittent the two arrived around the same time, so I'm not sure which is the cause, but I haven't seen any problems like that in XP so I'm leaning towards the card (drivers, perhaps). I don't spend much time in XP, though, so I'm still not sure.
There are so many versions of software that claim to convert FLAC files to ALAC for iTunes. I know that many applications are free, but I've had problems with shareware in the past. What about the Bigasoft FLAC converter for $19.95?
I downloaded a Zip archive file, but when I double-click on it to unzip, it turns into another zipped file (CPGZ Archive). I tried the download twice, with the same result. I don't have the Archive Utility?
how to keep certain files from being looked up in ALL My Files finder search?
I have a folder that is Write Access only for me and No Access for everyone else for important files. This file is also locked. You can't click on it, open it, etc with out getting permission pop ups.
HOWEVER! When using Finder's All My Files it will actually show me those files in the locked folder! Plus I can Open them, Copy them etc! I have the path bar view turned on at the bottom and it's so messed up. I can click and open the file from there, but I can't click and open the folder containing it.
Thoughts on how to hide these folder contents from all my files search? I really don't want to hide each and every file, that's why they're in a folder.
I'm running Lion 10.7.2 and have noticed in Finder that the contents of many folders aren't visible. This seems to be for newer files added. For example, I copied a folder from a thumb drive, into my (username) -> (Documents) folder. I see that folder name, but there are no files inside. When I "Get Info" about that folder, it tells me, as expected, there are 30 items, and almost a MB of data. Furthermore, when I back up to SuperDuper, I can actually see what I'm looking for - all files are there in that folder and for every other folder! In addition, searching in Spotlight finds any/all of the files contained within the folder. My problem, again, is that no files, none, not one, are visible in various folders, yet they exist, and are retrievable, via Spotlight. Should I do a disk check, or other recommended procedures?

yesterday night I decided to moving (not coping) about 100 Gb of data (two WMWare virtual images of Windows XP)from an external USB disk to my internal hard disk. The process starts and I see it will takes about 3 hours. I decide to stop the process to start it again just before going to sleep. So I click on x button of the moving window. After few seconds the moving process stops. But opening the source folder I had a very unpleasant surprise: no files at all.I check the destination folder: just few files of about 50 MB (obviously). I immediately removes the external USB disk to avoid other damages.
Upon upgrading to Lion, I can no longer view pdf files unless downloaded and then opened. When attempting to view pdf files in Safari all I get is a black screen. I am able to download most files and then view, but some sites don't have that option.
Another issue that I can't seem to fix and I think first appeared with Snow Leopard is that whenever I open Safari I get a message about my version of Safari doesn't support Community Toolbar although have upgraded my browser whenever a new version is availalbe.
Does Lion have a limit on how many files it can handle ok inside a folder?
In ye olde days, it was a rule of thumb that having more than, say, 25,000 files in a folder was asking for trouble. The Finder would bog down, Open/Save As... dialogs would take ages, etc. When Leopard came out, those problems went away. However, in my shiny new Lion-equipped MBP, I am running into something that looks like this old problem again. If I have a folder with over 12,000 files or so in either the internal HDD or any external HDD and I should happen to drop into it when an Open or a Save As... dialog window opens, the dialog freezes, the beachball comes out and I have to wait for 10-20 seconds before any button or keyboard shortcut responds.
