OS X :: Highlight Incoming Messages In Mac Mail

Apr 24, 2010

Is there anyway to highlight an already read and saved message in Mac Mail? To clarify, when I open Mail I have a window that shows all my incoming messages, both unread and read. Sometimes after I read a message I want to be able to go back and quickly find it. This could be several days later and in the meantime I have 50 more saved messages and trying to find it is difficult. Is there some way to highlight it in color or flag it so I can easily go back and find it? I am running 10.5.8 although I doubt that has any bearing on anything.

Software :: Mac Mail - Excessive Incoming Messages

Sep 8, 2009

I use Mac Mail at home and at work. At home everything works fine. At work, in general everything is working, but every time I start up Mail, it says there are over 1500 Incoming Messages and proceeds to "download" them. Of course there aren't these messages. My two email accounts are .Mac IMAP account and a business IMAP account. These 1500 messages don't seem to be put anywhere, and I can't seem to figure out which account these messages are coming from. The problem is downloading all of this makes my computer slow down a bunch (old mac) and it takes a long time. The problem does not affect my home Mac or my iPhone.

OS X Mavericks :: Prevent Incoming Messages In Mail App?

Jun 28, 2014

I'm not very fond of using the integrated mail app in mavericks. However I love how I am able to compose a message simply by clicking someones email on a website. But my question is, how can I turn off incoming messages from being stored in my mailbox? I would like the app to function where there are no incoming messages or junk in the mail app. The version is a 7.3 and my mac is running on mavericks 10.9.3

Applications :: Mail - Incoming Messages In Large Amounts?

Nov 23, 2009

I have a 13" MBP running 10.6.2 and for some reason I randomly get Mail bringing in like 3,400 messages and i have not been able to figure our why. I have the following Mail accounts:

1. Work - this is pop and I know it can not be this account causing it as I only leave 1 day on server so there is not that many in there
2. .Mac - (mobile me) however i only have 2,784 messages in it so the numbers dont match up
3. gmail - this account only has 26 messages since i only use it for GV and syncing an Android phone

It does this very quickly for supposedly bring in that many messages and when it finished nothing has changed and i notice nothing new in my Mail accounts?

This has concerned me ever since I got a Mac. Sometimes I'll open mail, and it'll say (in the bottom left ) receiving 1 of 15. Scroll across to 15 - but I'll actually only get one new email. I have Junk Mail filtering to just mark emails, not delete them.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Applying Rules To Incoming Read Messages?

May 16, 2012

All of my email accounts are IMAP accounts. It seems like Mail won't automatically apply rules to new messages that appear in the inbox, if those messages were previously read on another device. It seems like Mail will only apply inbox rules to a new message if it comes in as "unread". For example, if I was reading some email messages in my iPhone's inbox, and then I come home and turn on my Mac and launch Mail, all of those messages show up for the VERY FIRST TIME in Mail's inbox. But none of the rules are applied to those messages, because I've previously read them somewhere else. This seems to be either a bug in Mail, or a poor design choice in Mail. Is there any way to FORCE Mail to apply rules to all incoming messages that appear in the inbox, regardless of whether or not they were previously read on another device?

OS X :: Cannot Send Messages With Mac Mail

Jun 4, 2009

All of a sudden I cannot send mail from my main Mac. My other 2 work fine so I know it's program issue. I called my internet provider and they told me i had to contact Apple so I thought I'd start here. She did suggest that I delete my mail account and set it back up. I'm willing to try this, but I can't loose all my mail. So, I have a back up on time machine if I need it, but I'm not sure how to re enter it into mail.

I funnel all my email accounts through my Gmail account, and I use IMAP and Mail.app to administer that account.Gmail offers the ability to send messages using a different "from" field and I want to see if that feature can be replicated in Mail. Is this possible either out of the box or with a plugin? I want to be able to do this without adding a new account with POP or SMTP settings, ideally.

OS X Mavericks :: Crashed Messages App And It Won't Respond Or Even Open

Sep 3, 2014

We all got brand new MacBook Airs to use. My friends and I started using them and messing around to see what we could do, and found out that the Messages app on the Macs was great for sending people obnoxiously long iMessages. Like, say, we'd write a word, copy paste it a couple times, and then copy paste that, etc. until it was long enough for our satisfaction.

one day I decided to spend about 5-10 minutes just seeing how long of a message I could make.,Then I tried to send it. I say tried, because it actually didn't send right away. So, I waited for about 15 minutes, laughing at how devious I was. After the 15 minutes, I started getting worried that I was going to break something by sending such a long message, as it was still trying to send. I tried to fix this and cancel the message by restarting my computer. Of course, this didn't work, and almost made it worse, as the Messages window wont even pop up when I click on it now. I tried restarting and shutting down my computer multiple times, still to no avail. my friend actually received the message, because it told him he had gotten a message from me, then when he opened up his messages app, it just kinda froze his whole computer for a bit, then crashed the messages app.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail App Freeze When Downloading "incoming Mail"

Apr 10, 2012

Its been a while that I've experienced freezing session in my mail app (lion os) so as a natural reaction Force Quit>Reopen was the case. After a while I started to notice that it only froze, as in giving me the rainbow wheel, when it was downloading an "incoming mail". Since i get quite a bit of work related pictures and media filled news letters my mail app goes rainbow wheel quite often. After an incoming mail is downloaded, my mail app goes back to fully functioning. There is absolutely no other problems with it. Its just that when mail is being downloaded i cant use my mail app and its starting to get annoying.

Im running a mid 2009 MBP 13" with  V 10.7.3 and my mail app version is V 5.2 (1257) . I have growl for mail installed as a plug in but i don't think that's the reason for the freezes.

Funny stories are not quite the same without the pics! I can preview & download the images with no problem.
