Nov 25, 2009So to the issue: I tried to send an email, not knowing it was 25mb, and obviously it did not go through. I deleted it out of my outbox, and since then it's been popping up in recovered messages non stop (current count is 96). I've deleted the files from the mail app, deleted the temporary files in the mac mail folder, deleted the contents of the deleted folder, and yet the application still "recovers" the message non stop.
Since this has happened I have not been able to obtain new messages from mac mail because it is busy with whatever it is doing

Mar 18, 2012My Apple Mail hasn't been working since 31st January. Every time I open it the same email just continues duplicating itself in the "Recovered messages" folder so I end up with hundreds of them. This email was the last email that was successfully sent and I was overseas at the time. When I returned home, my email would not update and it has not worked since.Â
I have tried rebuilding and taking mailboxes offline and online. Should I delete the 'mail' folder from my library?

Apr 11, 2012One IMAP account is intermittently losing all mail in inbox except for one message. After doing opening program the receive wheel spins for a long time, but at this point there are only 170 emails in the inbox because we moved all the rest to the on my mac inbox to try to solve this porblem. There are two accounts, both from the same provider, but one of them takes a long time to receive new mail.  The wheel spins for a long time - each time it gets mail.Â
Several times after finishing receive cycle, all the mail that was in the inbox disappears, except for one. I was able to get the emails to retrn by going into settings>accounts> and changing a random setting and then changing it back the way it was. All settings appear to be correct and match the other other account that is working correctly.Â

Jan 22, 2010There is a new bug that has cropped up in the Mac OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard version of Apple Mail, version 4.2. This bug was not present in Leopard's version of Apple Mail. If you drag a single email from Apple Mail out to your desktop, it makes a copy of the email message on your desktop. BUT -- if you drag multiple emails from Apple Mail out to your desktop, Mail does absolutely nothing. This used to be a very quick way to archive and/or export email messages out of Apple Mail, and it worked perfectly fine in Mac OS X 10.5. But you can no longer do this in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Apr 19, 2012Is there a way that Mail can work like MS Entourage or Outlook and more professionally attach files to the message? For example when I attach a picture or audio file its always embedded into the message at the bottom or top of the email. Outlook and Entourage do not work that way.

Feb 14, 2012Before updating software (10.6.8), in Mail, clicking a message in the inbox caused the message to appear in its own separate window-- not just in the pane below the inbox. I'm not sure why this function is no longer available. I guess I could delete Preferences (where?) and see if that does it.

May 17, 2012I just installed the latest SW update...I think it included a security update. After I rebooted I lost the ability to use the "Entire Message" search in Apple Mail.I double checked my spotlight settings and the mail icon is checked and the privacy tab had nothing in it.Â

May 3, 2012I went to make a copy of an important drive and accidentally re-formatted it (re-formatted mac journaled, originally mac journaled). The drive contained a bunch of important disk image files which I need to retrieve whole. I'm fairly confident that the files are still there and only the table information got overwritten, as the re-format took about 30 seconds. None of the recovery software I've seen however, can retrieve .dmg files, or such large files (these are up to 32 gb each in size).how I can retrieve these disk image files?Â

May 23, 2012I've got 2 gmail account in my mac mail. One of them stopped display new mail on 24/5/2012. The last mail that I've got is 23:45pm 23/5/2012. When I try to get new mail for that mail box, the mail ativity shows they are loading 43 incoming messages. However, once the loading is done, nothing shows up.Â
As I said i've got 2 gmail accounts in the mail and the other account is working fine. Â

Mar 11, 2010I once chose not to display message headers in Mail 4.2 in the menu. Now, I am unable to get them back. I get the long ones, but not the short. How can I restore it? I am also using Letterbox. I tried to disable Letterbox, but the choice "Short Message header" is still nowhere to be seen.

Apr 20, 2009When I Reply to a message I loose and images in the original message (including those in my original signature lines. Instead of the image I get <pastedGraphic.tiff> or <image001.png> or <ATT00108.gif>. Any new images (from my new signature lines) are ok. If I Forward a message all these original images are intact and get forwarded, so the problem is in the Reply function.

OS X :: Snow Leopard - Stop Replacing CAPITALS?
Oct 25, 2009I think it's the new text replacement stuff in Snow Leopard that's causing this 'problem'. Every time I type more than one capital using the Shift key, the other capitals are replaced by lower case letters. Now this is useful when you mistakenly started a sentence with two capitals, but I find it extremely annoying when I actually do need multiple capitals. And using caps lock all the time is annoying as well.
Is there a way to turn this off? I like the rest of the hole text replacement thing, and would like to keep that turned on. But I can't really find anything that has to do with 'accidental double capitals' or something like that.

OK so did you type the title of your e-mail or any other unique text that relates to the mail here? Next you need to select 'All Mail' in the search tab. Next add a Folder colum to your search results and see if it shows up there.Â
if you now delete the found mails they will appear again in the deleted mail folder. from there you can delete them again etc. Did you do this and they are gone? And you are on a POP account? Â

I noticed about a week after installation when I went to use stoplight and it wouldn't let me because it was indexing.
